"Our universe grants every soul a twin -- a reflection of themselves -- the kindred spirit -- And no matter where they are or how far away they are from each other -- even if they are in different dimensions, they will always find one another. This is destiny; this is love."

"Huh. . ."
"What is it, Shigaraki?"
". . . Why are the foretold legendary soulmates two teenagers?"
". . . What do you mean?"
"Don't you think it should have been two adults?"
"Well, I don't think age really changes what they are. They will end up growing up and becoming adults. Just because they met four or five years earlier doesn't really change anything."
"Didn't the legend say that not long after the two soulmates met, they would defeat an untold danger?"
"Like the League of Villains?"
"Exactly."
"The legend also said they were going to save the whole world from something. Maybe we're not the untold danger."
". . . Are you saying we're not good enough?"
"Basically."
". . ."
". . ."
". . . You right."
"So what are you planning to do? The mission to destroy All Might failed."
"Listen. I don't know yet. Just give me some time to think. I'm pretty sure those kids will be going for their apprenticeships soon, anyway. Maybe we could plan for something then."
"And how do you know that?"
"You know I have my sources."

You shuddered, the chills going up your spine and down your arms. "What the hell?"
"What is it?" Todoroki asked, slurping his gogurt.
You were both in the break room, deciding Todoroki should get a longer rest for his final match. You knew Tokoyami was an excellent fighter. He had good control over Dark Shadow (from what it looked like), and they made a really good team. But you knew Bakugou was way too stubborn and competitive to lose to him.

He was very likely going to be the one to win, so you were prepping Todoroki for the worst.
You shook your head, shifting in your seat. "I don't know. I just got the shivers for no reason."
"You know, that means someone is walking over your grave."
". . ."
". . ."
". . . Who the fuck says that to someone?"
"You."
"What?"
"You said that to me."
"No I didn't."
"Yes, you did."
"When?"
Todoroki shivered as he sat down in front of you. Noticing this, you asked, "Are you cold?"
"No. I'm actually still quite hot."
"So what was that?"
"I just got chills for no reason."
"You know, that means someone is walking over your grave."
". . . What?"
"About five minutes ago."
You sighed, remembering. "You right." You shifted in your seat, looking at him stare down at the table. "Are you okay–"
"Are you okay?"
You froze, resisting the urge to blurt out the word 'never' so you don't worry him. "What do you mean?"
"That explosion didn't freak you out?"
Recalling what he meant, you shrugged your shoulders in response, "I mean, I knew it was going to happen. It's why I tried putting up walls in front of everyone. Thank god Cementoss was there to do it properly."
Todoroki remained silent, and you were about to ask if he was okay before he spoke up himself, "You knew."
You frowned, confused as to why he was restating what you had told him. "I did."
"You even warned me."
Oh.
"Todoroki, it's not your–"
"You warned me, and I ignored you, did I not?" He was now looking at you, a stern expression hardening his gaze.

"Yeah, but that's not your fault. You were focused on winning, as you should have been. I should've given a more urgent warning to pull you out of the zone. You don't need to worry, Todo. That fight with Midoriya was way more dangerous. You literally almost killed each other. I'd rather have non-life-threatening injuries rather than have two of the people I care the most about die."
"But–"
"AH! No buts. Do you understand?"
He stared at you, his gaze quickly flicking down to your lips before he looked back into your eyes again. It was so quick you didn't know if you actually saw it, but it did spark a recent memory, causing your face to heat up. He gently smiled at you, noticing your red face before nodding his head and saying, "I understand."
You threw up a quick peace sign before saying, "Cool."
He held down a chuckle, smiling and replying to you softly, "Cool."
As you looked at him, you thought back to the kiss. It had been so sudden, and there wasn't really much going on to initiate such a thing. You were beginning to wonder why he did it. "Hey, Todoroki. I just. . . I have a quick question."
"Sure," he said, giving you his full, undivided attention.
"Why did you, uhm. . . Why did you kiss me back there?"
He stayed silent for a few seconds, looking like he was thinking about something before replying with, "I don't know. You were chatting a lot and you might have passed out due to lack of breath. I was thinking of ways to quiet you down because you weren't listening to me, so I thought the appropriate way would be to kiss you. Since I'm your soulmate, I should do that. I also thought you'd be happy with that method."
Your face didn't show what you were thinking, because you were still trying to process what he had just told you. He kissed you just to shut you up, and he thought you'd be happy with it?
So he didn't feel anything from that kiss?
You shook your head, trying to rid yourself of your thoughts. You knew better how destructive assumptions could be, so you decided to clarify, "So. . . You only did it because that was the only way to have me stop talking. And you were only satisfying what you thought were my needs."
He frowned for a split second before nodding his head obliviously and saying, "Yes."
"I see."
This next round of silence was filled with awkwardness. Clearing your throat, you stood up from your seat and said, "Thank you for being straight up with me. Do you want anything from the vending machine?"
He shook his head, "No, thank you."
You nodded your head, mumbling a small 'okay' before leaving the room, feeling Todoroki's confuzzled gaze burn into the back of your head.
When you left the room, you waited until you were able to turn into another hallway completely before leaning against the wall, hitting the back of your head against it.
You had been hoping that kiss meant something. Guess you were wrong.
