I wanted to help rebuild the car, but my team boss told me to take my alone time.

I entered my private room, tears rolling over my cheeks from guilt, the car was so good on friday, the lap I set before the crash looked even better. But now the mechanics had to rebuild the whole setup... A whole rear suspension, a rear wing, possibly a new gearbox and the risk of having a new power unit.

Fuck sake, I'm so stupid, these are the moments I would not want to be me and rather be in the perspective of a fan.

The guilt is burning... I need something to listen to.

I grabbed my phone, still with shaking hands and put on Stay numb and carry a song from Madison, it was a song from her freshly released album Life Support.

The song helped me calm down and I finally came back to my senses...

Once the song was over I felt much better, I picked myself up again and walked back into the garage. The whole team was shuffling around, trying to get spare parts and put em on. I instantly went on to help wherever I could.

It was only a few hours before qualifying would start. I helped removing the rear wing and we took of the engine cover.

Luckily the power unit and gearbox got away with zero damage. Said a mechanic.

Phew, that's two headaches gone.

The mechanics and I spend the remaining hours, trying to get it up and ready for qualifying, we did everything we could.

It took us hours, upon hours, qualifying had already begun and the stress was through the roof,

I haven't even felt the track conditions.

But then our luck came in, Lando Norris' McLaren spun off in turn 6 and went hard into the tire wall. A red flag was shown and that gave the team and I more time.

Y/N, prepare to get in the car, we are going to make it! Said Jeff.

It was only 6 minutes in this session left.

I rushed into my racing suit, put everything on and stepped into the garage.

Suddenly my mind was all on qualifying, I cut off all the thoughts.

The engine was being started and the C5 soft tires were put onto the car.

4 minutes remaining, this will need to be an absolute miracle lap. Said Jeff into the radio.

I got the sign to go and I did, now I needed to warm my tires optimal and make sure my electronics were all set properly.

And recharge on Y/N, work the tires gently and concentrate. Said Jeff, clearly tensed up.

Yeah, I'll do, I just want to thank the team for bringing me out of here, after such a tricky morning. Let's get it boys and girls. I said over the radio while warming my tires.

I entered the final sector...

And recharge off Y/N. Said Jeff.

I made sure my recharge button was off and my tires and brakes were up to temperature, 1 and a half minute remaining.

I exited the final corner, flat out, barely missing the outside wall. Braking late into turn 1, with the lighter cars it was possible to brake as late as at 93 meters before the corner, into 3 gear I nursed through. Perfect on the track limits, now towards turn 3 brake at 90 meters, downshift aggressively.

I ran out as wide as possible without dipping a wheel

Into the gravel. Turn 4, 5, and 6, I got through em perfect and I set the fastest sector.

Sector 2, I've been strong there all weekend and this time I am as well, going nearly 2 seconds faster then the pace I needed to make it to the second session.

Sector 3, I brake late into turn 13, make it to the apex perfect and gain 2 tenths off it. I manage to keep it clean, going into the last turn I gave it all, nearly clipped the exit wall, but I managed to keep it together.

I raced over the main straight and completed the lap.

Okay, we're through into Q2 Y/N! Well done. Said Jeff.

Fuck yes boys and girls, what a team work, thank you! I screamed out of excitement.

I drove back to the pitlane and prepared for Q2.

Q2 went very easy and we got through towards the final top 10.

I was still staying up for this and so far it's definitely worth it.

Y/N is doing amazing wrestling that car around the track, super quick and silky smooth.

They entered the final few minutes of qualifying and so far Y/N was only a tenth down on his teammate, followed closely by Tyler Everdeen in that Mercedes. They are super close to each other.

They all were about to do the final run, Tyler first, then Y/N and then Max Verstappen.

They all start their laps and Y/N was giving it everything he possibly could.

AND Y/N SETS THE FASTEST SECTOR, COULD THE 17 YEAR OLD PORSCHE DRIVER SET IT HERE ON POLE POSITION?! Screamed the commentator.

GO ON Y/N! I screamed, he can't hear me unfortunately.

I bit my nails in excitement, my palms were sweaty, knees weak and my arms were heavy. All from the nerves. My heart was racing nearly through my chest.

The TV director showed Y/N going into the final sector, going into turn 13, with so much entry speed. He then nearly lost it, he managed to catch the slide but it was gonna cost him.

Y/N! I screamed.

A moment later a yellow flag was shown in sector 3.

SOMEONE HAS GONE OFF IN SECTOR 3! Screamed the commentator

My heart sank, Y/N had to lift for it.

The camera switched to Tyler Everdeen, stuck in the gravel. Qualifying was over.

IT'S A PORSCHE 1-2 HERE IN MELBOURNE FOR THE AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX! Screamed the commentator, still in disbelief.

The camera then panned to Y/N, he was driving slowly to the grid, where they told him to park at P2.

They played a team radio of Y/N.

Ahhhh, damn that's it, P2? He asked unsure.

Indeed Y/N, still a very good result for your debut race. Said his engineer.

Where did Max end? He asked.

Max is on pole, followed by you and Tyler. Said the engineer.

Okay, great result nonetheless, who would have thought after free practice, hehe. I laughed.

Y/N stepped out of the car, he removed his helmet and fireproof mask.

That wet messy hair, combined with his facial expression did something to me, he looked way different then normally.

He drank a bottle of water and frowned upon seeing Tyler park up in P3.

He waved his hand through his hair and started talking to Max.

The interviews were being done by David Coulthard.

Y/N, let's start off with you. Nearly put your car on the pole position on your debut, how does it feel? He asked

Uhhh, well I kinda wish it was more, knowing that Max was not improving and that I was, but an amazing result, especially after having to rebuild the car partly. I'm super happy with this one.

A loud cheer was hearable from the crowd and Y/N waved to em.

It was time for me to head to bed, it was already really late. 

I quickly sent Y/N a message, congratulating him on his first successful qualifying.

Then I went to bed, but once again I couldn't sleep.

There was just too much adrenaline going through my head.

I walked downstairs again, picking a glass of water, thinking about my day, it's been a strange day, I nearly crashed my fucking car, somehow not losing the rear end. A lot of tears and anger... Perhaps it's just my hormones picking up extra stress, or I'm being a fucking deluded teenager again...

The strange part is that Y/N had a similar slide, as well and he saved it perfectly... This is getting very strange, or I'm just making too much shit up right now... 

I stared out the window while drinking my water.

Y/N... He looked so fucking hot when he got out of that car, that messy hair, that facial expression... But I can't think of myself in a relation again. And I can't see myself dating Y/N right now, that would never work, we're both in totally different phases of our life with two completely different schedules.

That's a shame, to live on such different schedules, he's a cool person to hang out with, I hope he knows that.

But who did he have sex with? I'm still wondering about that...

There must be plenty of women who fancy him... Whoever she is, I hope she treats him right and makes him happy.

I then got an idea for a song and I instantly wrote it down in my notes app as an drafted song.
