《Learn How To Love》Fry Bits And A Handwritten List

Slowly but surely, Steven brought you back up from the kiss, and soon you stood face-to-face once more.

"Ready to go?" Steven slapped the top of the van affectionately. You laughed at the goofiness of it and nodded before sliding into the passenger seat.

"So where to?" He asked once you had buckled up.

"Huh?" You turned to him, "I thought you had someplace in mind?"

"No," he laughed, "I made a sign and borrowed a car, that's it."

You smirked; "okay, well let's get some snacks and make a list of things to do and places to see!"

"Good idea- thinking ahead," Steven smiled and started the car.

As you left your house and started for the boardwalk, you couldn't help but stare at Steven. Especially since he had to keep his eyes on the road and would never have to know you were staring.

It wasn't long before Steven parked in a general lot and the two of you set off on foot. You weren't super hungry- that cereal did a good job of filling you up- but you were still feeling pretty snacky.

"Okay, we've got..." Steven started listing options off the top of his head while the two of you walked past business after business. "Donuts, pastries, ice cream, tater tots, fries, fry BITS, pizza-"

"Wait, hold on-" you interrupted, "what are fry bits?"

💫

"So THESE are fry bits!" You hummed in pleasure once you had gotten your first bite. Steven watched you smile while the savory flavor melted in your mouth. The texture was perfect- the bits were crazy greasy, but the extra crunch from being at the bottom of the fryer for so long balanced it out. It was the perfect salty snack!

"Sometimes I forget that not everyone grew up on these like I did," Steven shrugged with a smile, stealing a bit from your bag. "That's what I get for being unique and ordering off-menu," he bragged.

"Hm, well now I'm in on the secret," you grinned proudly before popping another fry bit in your mouth.

You both stopped when you reached a picnic table positioned with one side facing the sea and sat down across from one another.

"Alright, now down to business," Steven folded his hands on the table seriously.

"Hm, yes, business," you agreed in a goofy deep voice.

"What are some Beach City staples? We've gotta hit the classics," Steven thought aloud.

"Well, FunLand is a must," you started.

"Oh- hang on," Steven pulled out a miniature pen and paper from his wallet and started scribbling. "We've gotta write this down," he explained.

"You know, we could just type it out in a notes document on our phones?" You offered.

"No way! We're gonna romanticize the hell out of this tour, and that includes all of the indie, coming-of-age, movie clichés," Steven spoke passionately, "including a written list."

You smirked and thought some more; "well it's BEACH City, so..."

"Beach day!" Steven finished your sentence and wrote the idea down.

Steven tuned into the distant sounds of arcade games coming from further down the boardwalk. You spoke at the same time; "FunLand arcade."

"Of course."

"Obviously."

You both made eye contact and laughed.

"Okay, okay, what else?" Steven tapped his pen.

"We could... see a movie!" You offered.

"Yes, definitely!" Steven scribbled excitedly, "I don't know if there's anything good out right now, but at the very least we should check it out."

You nodded and racked your brain for more ideas, but Steven beat you to it.

"Camping!"

"Camping?" You asked, but he was already writing.

"Yeah! It's not a huge Beach City 'thing,' but who doesn't love camping?" Steven's eyes sparkled. He looked so excited you didn't even want to tell him how much you disliked bugs and sleeping on the ground.

"Okay, camping!" Is what you did say with a half-hearted smile.

"We can figure out the rest later as we go along, but this is a good start!" Steven said holding the list so both of you could see;

1. FunLand

2. Beach day!!

3. Arcade :)

4. Movies

5. Camping, camping, camping!

"And while we go down the list, maybe we could eat somewhere different every day so we cover all the local businesses!" You added.

"Yeah, perfect!" Steven glanced at the now-empty bag of fry bits. "Well I guess we got one down."
