《Blue Road》Episode 21 (Part 1)

Richard and Mindy walked on the sidewalk as they headed to their destination. Now that they were human again, strolling around the city wasn’t a problem for them. Mindy looked over as officers patrolled the streets and applied wanted posters on the walls.
Looks like we're still on the lookout. Beads of sweat trickled down her face.
She wiped the sweat with a washcloth and warned Richard that they should be careful and hurry. Richard mentioned that it wouldn’t be a problem, as they were almost there. Mindy arched an eyebrow, not sure where he went with this. Once the duo stopped in front of W.A.S.P., Mindy took a step back and gasped.
“Are you crazy? After what happened last night?” She hissed.
Richard held his hands in defense. “Calm down, I’m sure no one else is here, so we can snoop around no problem.” He stepped closer and pressed his hand against the door.
“The place is probably closed because of—”
The door creaked open. Seeing this baffled Mindy to no end, but it didn’t faze Richard at all.
“Huh, how about that?”
“But why? Who’d leave the door unlocked?” Mindy complained, raising her arms in disbelief.
“Are you going to complain about it? It saves us the trouble of breaking in.”
“Touché, I guess.”
.-.-.-.
Richard and Mindy entered the building and headed to the receptionist's desk. Mindy examined the computer, scratching her chin and nodding.
“I see what your idea is. We can try to download this capsule to the computer and—”
“Oh, that wasn’t what I was going for,” Richard replied. He took the phone from the desk and headed to another room. “I’ll be right back.”
He closed the door behind him as Mindy stood there, waiting. She placed a hand on her hip, tapped her foot, and looked around. After knowing what her boss was like, seeing the workplace Mindy used to work in made her sick to her stomach. She wanted to leave as soon as possible, but also wanted to tear the whole place apart in a fit of rage. Nobody was here, so she could get away with it. Even if someone were here to witness it, they probably wouldn’t dare try to stop her. If only her mom knew, there was no way she’d let her daughter join a place like this. Then again, Mindy couldn’t remember why she chose to work here in the first place

The doors opened again, along with echoing footsteps. Mindy turned to the source of the sound when she heard a familiar voice
“Huh, surprised the door was already open. I wonder if anyone else is in here...”
She looked over, crinkling her nose, as her sister entered the building. “I’m here.”
“Ah, that makes sense.” Lily put her fist in her hand, nodding.
“Why are you here?”
“I don’t feel I have to answer you.” Lily turned away, blushing. “By the way, that new guy that works here, I think his name starts with an R. Richard, I think...”
“Yes.”
“Ok, cool. So, is he here?”
“Why do you ask?”
“Oh, hey, there you are,” Richard spoke as he came back, putting the phone back on the countertop. “Just who I was waiting for.”
“Hi.” Lily waved with a smile. “Yep, I got your message and took some time off to come here.”
“Hold on.” Mindy massaged her temples with one hand and raised another in front of his face. “You have her number?” She exchanged glances between the two. “When did you get so buddy-buddy with one another? Is there something you guys aren’t telling me?”
Richard and Lily looked away. “It’s a long story,” He replied, scratching the back of his head.
Ok, deviating from the main topic at hand. “So, what’s the issue?” Mindy questioned. “Why’d you call her here?”
“It’s not safe to talk about that here,” Richard whispered. “We should talk somewhere private, so nobody tries to eavesdrop on us.”
