《How I Became A Jarl》Legend Of Golden Edge pt. 2

A few men stood behind in the village because they got injured by the rain of arrows but they were nowhere to be found. Bodies of the dead disappeared too. Even the scent of blood wasn’t in the air anymore. When Barnir looked into the sky he noticed that it was time for it. The moon is up in the sky. The howling was heard all over the island. Barnir couldn’t see it but the rest of his men did. Cultists in black armor with black wolves by their sides. Some of them didn’t have much skin and their bones were visible.
[ Astvar ]
“How are those things alive?” Said Astvar as he noticed a wolf with part of his head missing. He had one eye, one ear, and no skin on his muzzle revealing his sharp teeth.
[ Warrior ]
“What are those…”
[ Berfor ]
“Pick up the arrows and shot! SHOT!!!”
While arrows killed a few warriors of the cult they didn’t do much to the wolves. They didn’t even flinch when they got hit. With one command wolves charged the hill. Seeing that Berfor saw no other option than to use his spells. He cut himself and splashed his blood over the arrows. Then he sunk a string with his blood. When he raised an arrow toward the sky the tip began to burn and as he drew the bow the string also was covered in flames. With one hit the wolf was burned into ashes. Before they could get close Berfor was able to kill one more wolf.
[ Berfor ]
“Shield wall!”
Warriors blocked the path with their shields. A few wolves bumped into them almost making them fall. One wolf was smart enough and jumped over the wall. It was going straight at Berfor with his bow. It recognized him as dangerous. Right when Berfor was ready to get bit, Barnir destroyed the wolf’s head with his hammer.

[ Berfor ]
“Barnir! They have those creatures on their side.”
[ Barnir ]
“And I think I know how they got them. This black fog wasn’t slowing us down. It was a different spell. This one devoured everyone who was left at the camp and made it possible to create those monsters.”
[ Berfor ]
“No one left in the camp?”
[ Barnir ]
“Nothing… Not even a blood… AIM FOR THEIR HEADS. THAT’S HOW YOU KILL THEM!”
Warriors used spears as they hid behind shields but a spear to the head wasn’t enough to kill them. Slicing their heads with swords definitely worked as Astvar sliced off one of their heads. They couldn’t hold them any longer. The wolves overwhelmed the warriors and got past them. Before one wolf died it could kill two or even three men.
[ Barnir ]
“If you can’t kill them! Stop them from moving!”
With Barnir’s command, warriors tackled the wolves and impaled them with spears into the ground. The struggle went on and all the wolves were killed but there was no time to rest. One of the men screamed and when everyone looked his way they noticed that the real enemy is there. Pure Sun was outnumbered and in bad shape. While their enemies were casually walking they ran uphill and fought archers and wolves. Shields were useless against them. Cultists had axes and war cleavers that easily destroyed the shields and hands of those who wielded them. Screams were barely clear because of the sound of loud steel colliding against each other.
[ Berfor ]
“We’re losing too many men!”
Barnir covered in the blood of his enemies as well as friends screamed as loud as he could and ran into the enemy lines. Swinging his hammer like a madman while he is surrounded by the cultists. One scratch on the back wasn’t enough to stop him. Astvar followed him with a different weapon than he had earlier. In his hand, he had a dark steel staff that with one swing killed his enemies. Even though it was thin the strikes from it felt like a hammer swinging with full force. One cultist tried to block this attack with his cleaver but it was shattered and sharp bits of iron cut into his face. Once the cultists noticed how dangerous Astvar is they surrounded him.

[ Astvar ]
“Father! Where are you!”
Barnir didn’t answer with words but with a pillar of flames that he created with his breath. The cultists around him didn’t die on the spot. They were screaming out of pain. Some were lucky to only get their skin burned. The worst was for those who were close to him. Their armor was melting into their skin.
[ Astvar ]
“I need to get to him… but they are in my way and I can use this weapon for much longer…” Thought to himself Astvar.
He strengthened his grip and with the staff’s help, he jumped over the cultist to where his father was standing. He was standing but he wasn’t in good shape. Astvar stood in front of Barnir with his staff pointed at the enemies.
[ Astvar ]
“You don’t look good. Can you fight?”
[ Barnir ]
“I’m in much better shape than you. This power is really draining you.”
[ Astvar ]
“I can manage it for a little while longer…”
Astvar’s hands were clearly shaking while Barnir was standing there like he wasn’t wounded at all. Barnir grabbed Astvar’s hand and pushed it down.
[ Barnir ]
“You did well. Rest for a bit.”

Join me on my journey, provide helpful criticism, edits, or whatever suits your mind! I appreciate any and all feedback!!!! We also have a Discord for anybody who wants to talk all things Rise of the Paragon!! Genesis Discord Also, consider joining my Patreon! Fair Warning: Blue Screens, and somewhat overpowered protagonists! The main character's point of view is described in first person. Every other character is in third person. That's just how I've chosen to present my writing style. REWRITE/REVISE is currently in progress. Any suggestions? Comment on their respective chapters!
