《Blood-Forged》Chapter 23

200 and some odd years ago...
Eun’s brow furrowed, “what do you mean seal?”
Uling straightened her spine and raised her chin before answering, “although there haven’t been many demons in the past century my mentor was always certain they’d return in full force and studied their abilities and weaknesses with fervor.” Her eyes drifted away from Eun’s face and she stared at the wall as she spoke. Her lips quirked downwards in a grimace when she mentioned her mentor. “I suspect the leader, this Lord of Demons, to be an Immortal Demon. A subspecies of demon that are nigh impossible to kill so sealing him may be our only option.”
“And how do you seal him?”
From her long flowing sleeves the soothsayer Uling produced a pure white flute. “He needs to be weakened and held in place and then I just need to play a spell.” She twirled the flute then slipped it back in her sleeve.
Over to the side Ves’hil’n sat in a chair with his feet folded under him, likely getting the cushion dirty with his shoes. His knees bounced rapidly like flapping butterfly wings as he slouched over with his chin in his hands, clearly not paying any attention to the conversation. But when the soothsayer produced the flute from her sleeve and mentioned spells, he perked up with eyes wide. He sat up straight and asked, “will you show us some magic?”
The woman who had just put her flute away turned to look at Ves’hil’n with an unreadable expression on her face, “what... kind of magic would you like to see Your Highness.”
Ves’hil’n pressed his lips together into a thin line and furrowed his brow, “you said you can heal, right?”
Uling raised an eyebrow and tilted her head to the side, “...yeah?”

Ves’hil’n reached for Blood-Forged where it rested against his chair. Suspecing what he was about to do, Ka’shin’lai frowned and started to ask in a low voice, “what are you-?”
At the same time, Eun, knowing what Ves’hil’n planned to do stepped forward and scolded in a harsh tone, “Ves’hil’n!”
But neither brother nor teacher was fast enough to stop Ves’hil’n from drawing his blade and cutting deep into his own forearm.
Kliali exclaimed, “shit!” and even Tejara’s eyes went wide. Eun made it to Ves’hil’n’s side a half second too late. He ripped the sword from Ves’hil’n’s hands and threw it to the ground, “what the hell do you think you’re doing, you fucking idiot!” Tejara’s eyes widened even further hearing Eun yell with such emotion.
Ves’hil’n let his bleeding arm be held up by Eun as he tilted his head and innocently said, “well, if she can’t heal a wound like this then she’s not much use to us, right?”
“That doesn’t mean-!” Eun started to argue but was cut off by a somber melody. He looked back over his shoulder at Uling, who had pulled out her flute again and started playing.
“Whoa!” Ves’hil’n exclaimed and Eun’s head snapped back to him to see the wound stitch closed. Eun wiped away the blood on Ves’hil’n’s arm with his sleeve. When he saw that there wasn’t even a new scar left behind, he sighed and let go of Ves’hil’n’s arm.
Ves’hil’n wiggled in his seat and cheerfully announced, “I’m satisfied!”
Eun pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, “I would like to meet this Xora nobleman now.”

The Court of Souls?
Author's Comment: I was asked about reading my work on other sites. The answer is simple: Currently I am not active in any other networks than royalroadl.com. Only here, I correct mistakes and errors. If you read it anywhere else and have to pay for it, or have to deal with an annoying amount of advertisement, You Are Being Betrayed. You would do good if you make other people in that network aware of it. This is a free project of mine for the purpose of having fun. And if people try to make money with it you shouldn't bother visiting their website. The only one whom I actually allowed to have my work on his website is Armaell who invested the time to compile them into pdf. (http://armaell-library.net/author/andur) ——————————————————————————————— Reading Order of the Multiverse-Books ——————————————————————————————— What do we talk about tonight? ~“How about a story?”~ Fine by me. Which story? Hopefully a good one. ~“There was once a lonely child in a world filled with myths, gods and demons. Only power counted there and the weak were worse than cattle. A world where survival of the fittest ruled.”~ Was it strong then? ~“No, but the child had a power. One that made him stand between light and darkness. Nothing could escape him, so he was shunned by his people.”~ What did he do? Did he fight his fate? Did he hide his power? What was it? ~“Oh, he fought. He fought a lot. And no thing could escape his power. It was something that everyone had to live with.”~ So he became a hero and changed the world? ~“…”~ Tell me. ~“Nooo, that's not how the story goes. This isn't a story of a noble man, doing good amidst a sea of monsters. This is a story of a demon who was... kinder than the rest.”~ A kind demon? How boring. ~“I think it would be better if I tell the story, so you can judge for yourself.”~ So tell the story!

Interface
Welcome to the World-City of Thousel, the sixth iteration of life on the planet. These are the recordings of the people of Thousel. Thousel is believed to be the second longest iteration of life, and the overall most prosperous compared to what we know about the past five iterations. Medicine and technology have all progressed abundantly, and the world itself has been turned into one great city, governed and managed by the Governmental-Company Alliance, or the GCA.These particular recordings concern the discovery of a peculiar machine. When two very different people find themselves bound by the fate of one mysterious bot, life in the World-City begins to change… Interface is a cyberpunk webnovel set in an ecumenopolis world where people evolved with electro-sensory abilities. These senses shape the face of modern technology and life in a world where the three largest corporations run what has effectively become the government. Each of these three companies control various aspects of life in the city, and they all constantly vie for domain and power over one another. The world stands at the precipice of biological, technological, and historical breakthrough. After decades of study into microbiology, archaeology, and geology, it has been discovered that sentient life has lived on the planet multiple times over. These past peoples are referred to as the “prior iterations of life,” and it is believed that five great civilizations were constructed before the rise of the modern world. No one can be sure for certain what caused these peoples’ extinction long ago, and the theories range from simply dying off over time to massive tectonic fractures in the face of the planet. Advanced technology, far more complicated than anything the people possess today, has been uncovered in multiple locations. This has lead scholars to speculate on exactly how long each iteration of life survived and how far they progressed as a society. None of the companies have been able to find a way to make this ancient technology work for their own profit. It is as though they are each missing the final key needed to unlock these centuries old secrets. What could this knowledge reveal about the nature of life across every iteration? What power could it give to the one who wields it?Far from the investigation into the origin of life, two kids unlock a new mystery – one that ties their fates to the discovery of an old, mysterious robot. Suddenly, eyes begin to turn towards them as life in the city of Thousel changes wherever they go…

Demonizing Matters
A high fantasy drama about a young woman who finds out a demon secret. This secret sparks a growing conflict between demons and humans. While trying to save her own life and dealing with the unexpected consequences of her actions, she falls in love with a hated demon. We follow the drama of Lita, alongside a cast of several other POV characters, as she discovers secrets (both open and purposefully hidden), makes well intentioned but sometimes disastrous decisions, and encounters prejudices and truths. Demons may be evil… or not. Humans may be good… or not. God is aloof… or not. Publishing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This is my first real work! Super excited to be publishing! I don’t spend a lot of time describing gore, sex, trauma or any other type of scene that would be labeled as mature. I've labeled the story as mature in every way more because I don't quite understand the standard and don't know if I've crossed the line at all (and I'd rather be safe than get my story rejected for under labeling ;)). Mostly I hint, start the scene then interrupt/fade out, and in general let the reader know it happens but without making it too explicit. (I’d love to hear how I did on this! And if it was still entertaining/informative without being traumatizing.) This is what I prefer to read myself so that’s what I write. I’m not apologizing. ;) If I mislabeled my mature content it was by accident. And, yes, the pacing was also on purpose. Beyond that, I welcome any feedback you want to give! Enjoy the story!
