Thaddeus POV

As we made our way back to the pack house, we found dead rogues, littered throughout the woods on our way back.

As the four teams came barreling through the woods, toward the river they took down all the rogues that made it past us.

I made it to the hospital with Xander and made sure he went inside. After that I had it back to the pack house, wanting to make sure Aiden was okay.

Aiden's POV

I don't know how long Thaddeus has been gone, but I haven't moved from my spot on the bed. I sit here, squeezing. His pillow is tight as I can against me. I'm terrified, my body hasn't stopped trembling, and his scent is doing nothing to call me down.

We were attacked by rogues a few times at my old pack. I remember one time a rogue made it into the pack house and no one warned us we were even under attack by rouges. Or at least they never warned me. I was going on about my day, I came out of the kitchen, face to face with one, and he attacked me.

I almost died that day. Some of my wounds were so bad, I actually needed stitches. It was one of the only times the alpha actually sent me to the pack hospital.

I still remember the surprised look on the Alpha's face when he saw me laying there, struggling to breathe and choking on my own blood after one of his warriors killed the rogue and saved me.

I hear footsteps approaching the door, and my head snaps in that direction. I hold my breath, then whimper and hold my pillow tighter as I hear their hand on the doorknob.

For a brief moment I'm relieved, knowing it's locked, but that relief quickly leaves me when I hear the click of the lock and watch the handle turn. I scream as the door opens and yank the blanket over my head

I hear voices, but I can't focus on them, I'm too terrified. I feel the bad dip and I squeeze my eyes closed, even tighter.

I feel the blanket being pulled off of me and I whimper before I'm lifted off the bed and pulled against a rock-hard chest. Strong arms wrap around me before his scents surround me and I realize who has me.

I open my eyes and lift my head to look at him. My eyes land on Thaddeus and I quickly throw my arms around him and bury my face in his neck.

"You're back!" I said, but it came out muffled since my mouth was pressed against his neck.

"I'm back." He said as he stroked my hair.

"It's okay, it's all over." He said as he kissed the top of my head. I took a deep breath, taking his scent in as I laid my head against his chest, listening to the sound of his heartbeat.

Suddenly I remembered the pain I felt earlier. I pulled away and searched his face before I started looking him over. I lifted his arm, looking for the wound I knew I felt.

It didn't take long to find it, as soon as I lifted his arm I saw it.

A long scratch that went from his shoulder blade down, wrapping around his side and down to his hip

"You're hurt!" I yelled as I lightly trailed my finger next to it.

"It's fine, don't worry about it, it'll heal." He said.

I looked at it again and I suppose it does look like it's healing. But it's not fully healed yet, and I pulled back to look at him concerned.

He cupped my cheek as he smiled at me, tilting his head slightly as his eyes searched mine.

"Hey, I'm really okay." He said, then leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine, holding them there for a moment before pulling back all too soon.

"I'm going to take a quick shower then I need to go back to the pack hospital to check on the injured," Thaddeus said.

"Can I come with you?" I asked.

He looked at me surprised and seemed to hesitate for a moment.

"Sure, why not. I won't be long." He said before climbing into his wheelchair and heading into the bathroom. I hopped off the bed and grabbed some clothes to change into.

I was actually excited, I wanted to see if there was any way I could help. That's what the Luna is supposed to do after all, right? If I'm going to be The Luna, I need to make myself useful.

And these people, they've been so nice to me. I'm concerned and want to help them in any way I can.

When we got to the hospital it was pretty busy, there was so much going on. I could see people moving about, going in and out of rooms, or heading off to do something else important.

It didn't take us long to find Marcus. He looked worried as we approached him. But just before we sat down, the doctor approached us and Marcus quickly stood to his feet.

"How is she? Is she okay?" Marcus quickly asked the doctor.

"She's fine. She's recovering now. We did have to go in and do some minor surgery, but she's doing great! She's strong, she's already starting to heal. You can go in and see her now if you want to.

Without another word, Marcus quickly moved around the doctor and entered her room.

I followed Thaddeus throughout the hospital. He made his rounds, checking on all the injured pack members. Making sure everyone was okay, and talking to them.

The ones he did talk to, I watched my Alpha tell them how good of a job they did out there, and told him the rest and took it easy.

I watched Thaddeus in awe, I'd never seen an Alpha be this kind to his pack members before. He really seemed concerned, I was so proud of him.

My old alpha would have never even considered checking on the injured. The only reason it would have even bothered him if a pack member died, would be because it meant he was down another warrior. He wouldn't have cared any less about the actual person, and the fact that they died in May or may not have had someone who loved them.

But as I watch Thaddeus, I see the complete opposite. I saw the pain in his eyes when He saw the few warriors that were in pretty bad shape.

Specifically, the one who lost an arm. I could almost feel Thaddeus's guilt, it was palpable.

When I wasn't in awe over my alpha, I was surprising myself, that I actually found the courage to talk to the people who wanted to talk to me.

Their faces would light up when they looked at me.

"Luna! It's so good to see you!" Was a sentence I heard more times than I can count, as we walked through the hospital. Of course, I was a smiling, blushing mess, which only made them smile and coo over me.

Our last stop was Xander. And what I saw when we entered his room, I honestly wouldn't have expected anything less. He was grumbling, arguing, and fussing as he tried to push the doctors away that were trying to clean his wounds and bandage him up.

"I'm fine! I'm a wolf. I'll heal damn it, leave me alone!" He yelled.

Abigail yelled at him to stop moving around and let them do their job, but it did no good.

He still wouldn't listen, and wouldn't stop moving around. My eyes go wide when Xander's arms suddenly shoot up above his head and he freezes, unable to move his body.

His eyes go wide before they snap to Abigail.

"What the fuck Abigail! That's not fair!" He whined.

"Well if you would stop being a baby I wouldn't have to do this now, would I?!" She scolded.

I looked at Thaddeus when I heard him laugh and shake his head.

"It's good to see someone putting you in your place." He said, laughing.

"Looks like she's got everything under control," Thaddeus said.

"Good job Abigail, I'll see you guys back at the pack house."

Thaddeus said, and Xander's mouth opens as he takes a sharp breath in while looking at Thaddeus shocked.

"You traitor!" Xander yells after Thaddeus picks me up, and places me in his lap, before leaving the room.

"Well, it looks like we're done here. Ready to go home my love?" Thaddeus said and my heart skipped a beat.

Home... My love...
