《The Legend of the North》chapter 74

A feline with long brown fur becomes visible by having its claws on the wall, tilting its body vertically and then beginning to descend through the trunks that formed the walls of the house. His green eyes, as well as the spots that ran along his back, were the second thing that most attracted attention, being overshadowed by the enormous claws that came out of his four legs and allowed him to cling to the wood without any problem.
Ezer wastes no time and releases the first arrow taking advantage of his enemy's moment of vulnerability, but as expected the beast jumps, avoiding the arrow and reaching the ground. Thanks to his knowledge Ezer predicted that possibility, having a method to take advantage of that situation, the same hand that released the arrow also had another waiting allowing him to save time and shoot the moment the beast hits the ground while defenseless.
Landing on the ground takes a few seconds for the beast, leaving it exposed and having no other option but to turn its head to avoid the impact that ends up embedding itself in its chest a few centimeters from the neck. The pain infuriates the feline who, having regained his balance, lunges straight at Ezer showing his claws and fangs.
Given a small window of time, Ezer removes his coat and tosses it into the air between himself and the beast. At the same time, the wind suddenly changes strength and direction, dragging with it the fur coat that hits the beast's head, mowing it down for a few moments.
That was all Ezer needed to insert his dagger with great precision into the beast's neck, both of them falling to the ground due to the weight and strength of their bodies. Although when the animal falls, it does not do so exhausted and without a fight, but rather it strives to get up using its larger body to gain an advantage trying to prevent Ezer from continuing to slash its flesh.

However, even though Ezer's body did not grow to its limit, it did grow enough that it can no longer be considered that of a child. The force that his marked muscles exerted was much greater thanks to all the difficulties he had experienced so far, allowing him to retain the beast and slide his dagger to a point of no return.
The beast stops moving and Ezer sighs, loosening his tense body, the drops of blood that entered his mouth without noticing it caused him disgust forcing him to spit. He gets up taking a few steps and then falls to his knees again, his vision misting slightly, reminding him of the exhaustion of his body and the cries of his muscles affirming it.
In any case, he gets up as he did so many times in the past and approaches the boy with an empty view who did not move an inch despite everything that happened, he hugs him knowing that it is more likely that the heat of his body will reach his heart better than words. The blood that covered him did not emanate from his small body, being dry and indicating that he had no injuries either, Ezer sighs relieved taking the little boy's hand to start walking away from the grotesque scene.
The boy follows him without saying a word and with his eyes lowered. Leaving the courtyard of the house, Ezer straining the muscles in his feet, they come upon the sight of a man hurriedly running towards them, surely attracted by the sounds of the beast fighting.
His walk, clothes and even look made it clear that he was a soldier, but Ezer is able to distinguish something else, clearly that man was the father of the boy who was holding his hand due to the similarities in their faces. Ezer is relieved to learn that the little boy still has a father, though he is saddened to remember the body behind it and what it meant.

“Son! O my son!” The man kneels embracing his son as Ezer instinctively gives them space.
The boy cries again with what was left of his voice and tears, although this time he does it with life in his eyes, by recognizing his relative he was able to feel security once more.
"Thank you, thank you for taking care of my son. Really...” The soldier thanks Ezer, stopping halfway when he notices who it is.
A small movement of his nose, almost imperceptible, but that Ezer learned to recognize thanks to being with Lyaria for so long. A quick look and the sum of all the changes in the man's face and body were enough for Ezer to notice his sudden tension.
“Your son is cold, you should take him to a better place.” Ezer is not surprised by the man's reaction thanks to Lyaria who told him about the strong xenophobia of the town.
“Yes, yes of course. I'll find my wife and...”
“She's in the back, but you should see her alone and be prepared.” The tone of voice and the small gesture of Ezer marking the blood that covered the man’s son, was all that the man needed for his face to pale and tears of fury begin to flow down his cheeks.
Ezer decides to walk away leaving father and son alone whose life from this day on would be completely different, a case that he was sure was repeated in many places in town that same night. However, before he could even take a couple of steps, a heavy pressure loomed over his body forcing him to fall to the ground before he could even think of countering it.
His head is suppress by an arm as well as his shoulders, he could feel a knee digging into his ribs every time he tried to breathe or try to get the dirt and snow out of his mouth.
"Wha-!" He tilts his face in an attempt to breathe better to utter a word, but the moment he does so the pressure in his body increases.
He cannot distinguish who was pressing him to the ground, although was able to tell that several men surrounded him while the boy's father watched this without saying a word.
Feelings of bitterness and hatred arise in Ezer to see how the man who helped a few seconds ago returned the favor by shamelessly looking the other way. For a moment wonders if he would have saved the child knowing that he would only receive disdain, but seeing the little boy again alive and in his father's arms... he repudiates himself for thinking about it, even if it was for a second.
