《Skulls and Crossbones: A Furry Pirate Litrpg》Book Two: Chapter 25

As the ship sailed through the gap between the tall reef mountains, Lucy heard hissing and scratching below the vessel. Her spine turned cold instantly. "Prepare for battle! They're climbing!"
The mermaids slithered onto the main deck and charged toward the crew. Each pirate fought back, swinging their swords and shooting their pistols.
Although the mermaids brought no weapons of their own, the creatures used their claws to block the swords and strike their victims. On their tails, they slid faster, using no feet to move.
Ivy dodged each mermaid’s attack while running to the ratline on the quarterdeck. She clambered directly into the crow’s nest and hid up there. None of the mermaids followed her, but she won’t be safe on the mainmast for long.
Two mermaids slithered onto the stern castle deck and turned their bubble-soulless eyes at Lucy. But Charles and Byron jumped the creatures from reaching their captain.
Lucy has to keep the ship aligned without crashing against the stone walls. They were close to escaping the reef.
Below her, a tail wrapped around her right leg and yanked her off her feet. Her chin hit the floor as the wheel spun to the right.
The ship rocked like thunder after it bumped into the cliff. It stopped, although the sails hung open.
The mermaid coiled her long body around Lucy like a snake. She hissed at the dog woman's face, unleashing her fishy, raw breath.
With her free arm, Lucy stabbed her cutlass into the mermaid’s back.
Mermaid Level:10 HP: 83/100
The creature screamed and released Lucy. Once freed, Lucy slashed the creature until it burst into data.
Mermaid killed! You received 100 EXP!
Lucy spun and blocked a slash from another mermaid. They kept coming, but Lucy had to keep the ship sailing while defending the decks.

She kicked the mermaid back and stabbed her blade in the creature's chest.
Instant kill! Mermaid killed! You received 100!
Lucy raced to the wheel and steered it to the left. The ship turned off the wall and sailed into the open sea.
Relief struck Lucy as she smiled at the moon, gleaming over the blueish-dark seawater. But her crew wasn't safe yet.
So far, no more mermaids slithered onto her ship. Her vessel should be outside their territory.
A scream echoed from the water behind the ship. All the mermaids paused and turned their heads to the screaming call.
After the strange sound stopped, the creatures wiggled their way off the ship, ignoring the survivors. Each one dived off the decks as if something has scared them. Whoever called them, it might be a retreat command for them.
“They are leaving!” Ivy shouted. “They are leaving!”
The crew cheered and danced around. All seemed well until the ship rocked.
Lucy fell to the floor, but Charles caught her. She returned to her feet and glanced around. "What now? We are outside the reef!"
The ship shook again as if a rock struck the bottom.
Charles stared at the floor. "I think something is beneath us."
Lucy grimaced. Now what!

Numbers Continually Going Upward
The world has very politely ended in the most webfiction way possible. Everyone is now leveling up in various things. Problems are arising. Some or all of those problems may be based around how to have a community barbeque when the nearest cow has been teleported to a few thousand miles away, along with the nearest supermarket. Join our protagoinst as he attempts to be a cool person, while everything falls apart. _____It turns out that any attempt to write a parody of the litrpg genre through overuse of the concept of leveling up inevitably fails when it turns out that *that is what the genre is based on*. Still, this was a fun little candy project of mine, and I might write more of it.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.

Riftwalker
Legend speaks that a roaring force of insatiable abyss lies beneath the peaceful overworld. Named the Rift after its chasm-like entrances, this unexplored void has consumed the underneath for eons. What had seemed just a myth crawled out of unreality in the form of eldritch creatures. Reborn as something not entirely human, mankind rejected the boy. Thrown into the Rift by people who feared him, he had to live in a world run by monsters as a newborn. Surviving, however, wasn't his only difficulty as he soon had to decide whether he would save the people who banished him or simply idle as the Rift engulfed all life. As of chapter 9, Riftwalker is on a very small hiatus. I'm very busy with work atm :( Here are a couple of things to expect: Lots of action and exploration! Diverse and refreshing creatures; There are good and evil. Satisfying progression and coming of age. The protagonist stands out but isn't overpowered. There are some litRPG elements, but it's not a determinant factor. The fights are decided through one's combat skill and experience and not stat-checking. Oh, and some other info: There is a bit of gore, but nothing disturbing. Occasionally, there will be images of the scenery and landscape. Chapters will be around 1,5k to 2k words long, and the releases will probably be relatively slow, sorry.
