Special Ep 2.39(pt 4) - That time I was reincarnated into another world and invented ice cream
I marched up to the wooden hut on the edge of the beach. This was the largest building around, and so I knew it must have been the beach house, where you can go to get food, beach toys, or anything else that a day trip might need. That ninja might not have held good to her promise, but I still wanted Ice Cream, and it's not like I could just make some out of thin air. Plus, I still needed to get some fireworks for later tonight.
It wasn't a real beach episode if we didn't set off some fireworks after dark, after all! What better place to buy fireworks than a beach house? I entered into the store. There was a bored-looking [Beach Elf] standing behind the counter, his eyes red and puffy in a way that reminded me of Wanda for some reason. The store was split down the middle, with one half dedicated to dining, with a few small tables, and the other half dedicated to beach gear. I walked over to the various driftwood-woven baskets of beachballs, volleyballs, and sand toys. Hmm... I couldn't find any fireworks anywhere... That was kind of odd.
I looked over at my companions, and was shocked to find them all in various states of disarray. Ciel seemed fine, but Bonbon was turning green and covering her mouth, while Wanda was pale and twitching on the ground, her mouth foaming. Huh? What was wrong with them?
"Are you guys okay?" I asked. "What's wrong?"
"H-Hiro-san," Bonbon gasped, and instantly clasped her hands over her mouth, as if she regretted opening it. "Can't you smell that?" she continued, muffled by her palms.
"Huh?" I hadn't been breathing for the past minute or two to train my HP regeneration up, but I took a deep breath through my nose. I caught the briefest scent of something like boiled dirt and rotten meat before my nose shut down entirely.
"Eugh..." I shuddered, covering my nose. "What the heck is that smell?"
"Oh, that's the soup, bro," the cashier replied. "You hungry?"
I shook my head. "Not for soup. I just want some ice cream."
The elf looked at me, his eyes glazed and unfocused as he tilted his head to the side.

"Ice cream? Bro, what's that?"
My heart stopped. He... didn't know what ice cream was? What kind of sick world was this?! I stumbled to the side, reaching out and holding onto the counter for support. A beach house without ice cream was...
I shook my head. No. I could deal with that. If they didn't have ice cream, I could just invent it, after all. It was probably better that way, if the smell of that soup was anything to go by. Really, I'd probably dodged a bullet, right? I took a deep breath, sending my brain on a thought patrol to gather my thoughts back together. Well, I'd have to have a cool interlude where I invented ice cream. That was fine. More importantly, though.
"Okay, fine..." I replied to him. "How about some fireworks, then?"
He simply stared at me, and I suddenly felt dread settle over me as he spoke again.
"Bro... we don't sell any fireworks."
I gave him a polite bow, nodding my head down.
"I see, thank you for your time," I told him, before turning and running through the door, tears streaming down my face. I stumbled, tripping and falling into the sand as I continued to make incoherent blubbering noises. There was a loud thump from next to me, and I turned to see a dazed Wanda, pale and convulsing. I looked up at Ciel and Bonbon. Ciel was brushing off her hands, while Bonbon was hunched over, bracing her hands on her thighs while she tried to catch her breath.
I glanced back at Wanda, who was starting to settle down, by which I mean she had turned into a pure white silhouette, and was laying limply on the ground.
"We had to get her out of the store," Bonbon explained. "She didn't really react well to the smell."
"That's not good," I observed. "It's probably because she's a dog, so she has a good sense of smell."
I wiped my eyes, sniffing. I was still pretty upset about the ice cream and fireworks and such, but seeing Wanda's hilarious visual gag had been pretty funny, and stating the obvious always helped me feel a little better. Ciel cocked her head, noticing that I was crying.
"Hiro-kun? What's up? You're crying."
"N-no I'm not," I lied, "I just had something in my eyes."
Bonbon looked at me, then glanced over at the store. "What happened in there? Was the smell too much for you too?"
"Even worse... he didn't have any ice cream!"
"Well... yeah, of course not." Bonbon replied. "Was that why you went in there?"
My heart raced. 'of course not'? It was as I'd feared.
"You mean... Ice cream doesn't exist?!"
"Wha? N-no, it exists, it just needs somebody who has [Ice Magic] to make it, so a random shack on the beach-
"Don't worry, Bonbon!" I reassured her, my sadness flying like a seagull into the sunset, chased off by the man with a big stick that was my resolve to show off.
"I'll invent Ice Cream right here and now!"
"I-invent...? Well... alright, if you're going to show off more recipes, I won't object."
"I think Wanda's feeling better," Ciel noted. "She just opened her eyes."
I glanced down at Wanda, who was still unconscious, cutely snoring and adorably flipping off Ciel in her sleep.
"Zzzzz, wan. I'm not, I'm still knocked out, wan. Zzzzzz," she snored. "If only I had a delicious frozen treat to help me restore my strength, wan..."

I smiled, reaching down to give her gentle headpats. It was adorable how she was talking in her sleep.
"Alright," I said, clenching my fist. "I'll make the ice cream... for Wanda!"
This was my resolve. I would show this world the power of ice cream... and I would do it with the power of legal human trafficking! (TL Note: phonetically pronounced as "friendship")
I darted over to the nearest log and kicked it into the air, unsheathing my katana to swipe at it with [Woodworking Basics] and [One Thousand Slashes of Light] to quickly carve it into a large mixing bowl, four smaller bowls, four spoons, a small table, a few stools, and a decorative centerpiece in the shape of a slab cut from a log.
I activated [Kinetic Remodelling] to ensure the furniture and tableware fell into its correct place, before aiming my hand at the largest bowl. I activated all of my magic skills and a few random Magic Artes to cast a spell.
"[Create Food]" I said, shooting twin beams of milk and sugar into the bowl. I shifted the beams, transforming them into beams of cream and egg yolk. Soon, the ingredients were sloshing around in the bowl. Well... most of the ingredients. I still had a few more tricks to pull out! I lowered my hands into the classic [Flaming Energy Ball] martial arts stance, and activated all of my magical skills again.
The wind picked up around me as a blue gel began to form between my hands. It bubbled up slowly, barely the size of a bean, rays of force blasting off of it
Bonbon dropped her notepad, staring at me in disbelief. "I-is that... it can't be..."
I nodded slowly, assuming that she was guessing correctly. "[Create Scrumptious Reagent]!" I finished, surging a blast of MP into the gel. W-whew! I staggered a bit, my head dizzy. I felt... drained. I checked my status:
Name: Hiro ♥ Protagonist
Active Title: [Legendary Hero]
Level: 11
EXP: 4800/5500
Skill Points: 73042
Gold Stars: 53
Gacha Coins: 1,000,000,049
HP: 69425/69425
MP: 250/1337
SP: 9587/9999
FP: 0/1
Wow! That'd taken a lot of my MP! I had to wait for that to regenerate before I could get back to work.
"I... I can't believe it," Bonbon gasped, reaching out towards the reagent with trembling hands. "A [Scrumptious Reagent] is... the ultimate ingredient. Even a single drop can transform a dish utterly! It usually takes an advanced ritual in a dedicated lab to produce them. To make that much would take... months. You can just... you can create one with a spell?!"
"It's not as easy as it looks," I told her, shaking my head and panting. "It... takes a lot out of me. If I cast it... I have to pay the price. I'm not sure how long it will be until I'm back to my full power."
Bonbon's ears lowered, and she wriggled a bit, which was her signal that she was either anxious or needed to pee.
"Hiro-san, that's... an incredible ability, but you..." She gave me a torn look, like a kid being forced to share her toys. "You shouldn't push yourself that hard. You're... we're..." She brushed the loose strand of hair behind her ear, only for it to pop back out immediately. "We're kind of counting on your ridiculous strength. The last time you were out of action, I almost-"
"Okay," I replied, hopping to my feet. "My MP restored. Back to cooking."
"..."
I ran back to the bowl of ice-cream and hurled the scrumptious reagent into it, causing a flashing and bubbling of light. This next part would be tricky. I had to heat up the eggs and cream to make a mustard or whatever, but the ice cream... also had to be cold. I would have to act fast!
I leapt up into the air, shifting myself so that the sun was behind me, blinding the bowl. I activated all of my magic skills and cast [Frost Tycoon - Lvl 10], creating a wave of frost, which I fell into. I drew my board and tucked my arms in, so that I fell through the frost, emerging ahead of it. And now...
"[Blaze Ollie - Lvl 10]!" I cast, using one of my most reliable skills to blast the wooden bowl and table with flames. The liquid inside the bowl instantly started bubbling. I twisted my board, tucking the lip of the board under the bowl before summoning all of my Skateboarding Chi, which I guess I still had on this Badass Gamelike Isekai Fantasy World. Time slowed to a crawl as I pressed down on my board with both feet, before executing my Arte:
"[Ultimate Board Arte: Kickflip]."
A beam of light engulfed us, as the board kickflipped off the table, sending the bowl soaring into the air, scattering its contents directly into the path of the [Frost Tycoon] spell. Beams of purple lightning flashed from the [Scrumptious Reagent] as the ice cream began to evolve, glowing bright white.
I landed back on the table, the force of my Kickflip dispelling the rest of the [Frost Tycoon], blasting it into a gentle summer snow. I held out my hand, catching the bowl as it fell. I glanced over, and grinned a smile.
"Behold," I said, sweeping it towards Bonbon, "[Ultra Delicious Banana Split Brownie Sundae Ala Mode]."
The [Scrumptious Reagent] had done its job well, bringing out the subtle flavors of the ice cream to transform it into a sundae with neat scoops of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream on top of a steaming brownie, covered with hot fudge, caramel swirl, chocolate shavings, whipped cream, and a ripe banana.
"Wow!" Ciel exclaimed, clapping. "That was really impressive, Hiro-san!"
Bonbon was stunned, just staring at me in shock.
"Did you write that down, Bon-chan?" Ciel asked her.
Bonbon slowly closed her notebook, letting out a long sigh.
"Sure... I just need to cast two Level 10 spells simultaneously, use a small fortune's worth of [Scrumptious Reagents], and mix undefined amounts of milk, cream, sugar, and egg yolk together."
Ciel gave her an encouraging smile. "I mean, maybe if you tweaked it a little?"
Bonbon sighed harder, clearly jealous of my culinary skills.
I turned and set the ice cream down on the table. As soon as the bowl touched the surface of the table, Wanda blurred into a seat, waiting at the ready in front of one of the empty bowls.
"Now there's only one thing left..." I mused, as my harem began to serve themselves some ice cream. If the store didn't have ice cream, I had to make it myself. So, if the store didn't have fireworks, well the solution was pretty simple, wasn't it? I'd have to make them myself! And that meant, of course...
"Hell yeah!" I shouted, pumping my fist as my excitement started to get excited. "Time to INVENT GUNPOWDER!"
