There is a place in the world for everyone, that could never be more untrue ....for James. He wanted to be so beneath the earth, he wanted to disappear. In his entire life, James never wanted to die. But today, he begged for death. He was absolutely shattered inside. There was nothing left. Nothing was left.

He was sure that this pain would last forever.

"Betty ... Listen to me baby, wake up." He held her body as he knelt on the pavements of Enos' front porch. "Open your eyes for me sweetheart, the ambulance is coming, you'll be alright ....okay my love! Just hold on for me." There wasn't a single pulse in her body and he knew that because he checked for a heartbeat a million times over. His bloody hand held her face, caressing her cheek as tears rolled down his cheeks in rivers. As the rain washed them away, more of them came falling down.

Enos was just sat on the floor by the open door. He couldn't even move , he couldn't hear Hayes crying, he couldn't hear the rain pouring, he could've feel his own heart beating, his eyes were only fixed on Betty's lifeless body.

"Where's that god damn ambulance?" James cried. "She's dying can't they see that?"

She was dead. He was the one who couldn't accept what he saw and felt with his hands. She was as cold as ice. As pale as the rain clouds.

A small crowd of by standers stood across the street and stared at the bloody scene unfold as police sirens could be heard from a distance. The civilians had reported the incidence to the local police and were now on their way.

"Say something love? Anything?" James begged for dear life. But the dead don't speak things that the living can hear. But if the living could comprehend the whispers in the wind then James would have heard Betty tell him that she loves him with her whole heart and it's going to be alright. But he couldn't hear anything and he wasn't going to be alright because of it.

With no last words, he had nothing to hold onto. Only the way she whispered his name for one last time before she collapsed. And how her eyes beheld her son with never ending love before they completely shut. Her last thought was them, because the final ultimate image in her brain was of them talking a walk by the beach in Malibu in a beautiful sunny day where there was no worry and no pain. They just lived. And her soul rested in that image as she crossed the thin line

On the other side of town, the ambulance was held back by a speeding train. A direct indication that her soul was never meant to make it.

James held Betty in his arms as he mourned bitterly and achingly and painfully, his eyes directed above as he questioned the cruel universe of why this was the fate they chose for them? That everything would fall into place only for everything to fall apart. He found no answers and he had no meaning. His heart was beyond broken, he felt dead, completely dead inside. It hurt so much.

It truly hurt.

It was a kind of pain he had never felt before. It was deeper than anything he had ever known, he wasn't surviving from this and he knew it.

Enos used his hands to cover Hayes' eyes from what the boy had already sin and curved into his mind for one day to resurface and leave him scared for life. Enos wasn't allowed to give up. He had to be strong even through all strength was lost for Hayes' sake.

James screamed in pain. He was so angry that his blood boiled. "SHE DOESN'T DESERVE THIS." The cry was directed to the heavens above. "She's too young for this." He begged . "Just bring her back to me... please."

But there wasn't an answer.

When the ambulance and police arrived, there wasn't anything else left to do. The paramedics did everything to revive her, but no pulse was found.

It was truly over this time.

Street's CCTV footage identified the shooter to being a woman, her name..... INEZ ANDREW SCOTT.

In fury, Enos ripped James away from Betty's body and landed heavy blows on him but James was too worn out to fight back. The police struggled to separate Enos from James and held him down. "You did this to her..." Enos tossed out blame on James. "It's always your fault that all bad ever happen to her, you and your family." Enos ranted in anger and frustration and pain as the police held his body to the ground that he didn't reach out to James again for another punch. "All of you are monsters for this."

James had no fight left in him because deep down, he knew Enos was right. His presence in Betty's life was a curse from the very beginning. They were doomed from the start. She has suffered so many times because of him, this was the final outcome. His presence in Betty's life has now cost this poor innocent girl her life. His soul crushed more and more until it was ashes. He truly hated himself and wished that he died instead of Betty. He was the one to die not her. He should've left her alone. He should've stayed away from her. This was his fault. His selfishness led them here. And the universe was revealing the consequences in daylight. And then walking all over it with a rainy afternoon.

It was truly a misfortune that death was the final price Betty had to pay in the name of love.
