Elisabeth, James and Hayes laid a duvet on the beach shore, wind blowing and the sun burning bright as they played with the young boy. It was a beautiful afternoon and Enos wasn't with them. He wanted Betty to spend more time with her son, and it would do Hayes good to be with his mother after so long.

He also did not wish to be near James, though it was heartbreaking to think that James would be spending time with the mother of his child and the child. A part of Enos felt robbed of an opportunity. This wasn't fair, he thought. He felt angry but mostly hurt. Angry at the world and hurt by destiny.

But Betty was so high. She hadn't felt that happy in a long time. She enjoyed every second she touched Hayes' little feet or lifted him up. Her smile was brighter and her eyes more alive. James couldn't help but stare at them both. He was happy inside, watching her be a mother to this baby and smiling so much wider than he had ever seen her.

They played around , James and betty running on the sand with Hayes on James' shoulder. Hayes giggled from the speed and wind and the little red balloon that was attached to his hand by a long string as it was raised in the air.

James would steal a kiss from Betty whenever he could and each time, Betty would fluster.

It was perfect.

For once, they didn't think about their problems. They only lived.

After some hours on the beach, Betty and James headed to the mall as Hayes slept in her arms on the ride there. They needed to buy somethings, Betty needed clothes and other accessories, they also needed to buy Hayes some more toys though he already had plenty. She wanted to do things for Hayes, things she never had the chance to do. She also bought him some outfits , according to her taste. Betty felt a bit sad that she wasn't using her own money to purchase these things, she wanted to be able to afford a living again. James wasn't even bothered, it didn't matter how much money he used, he only wanted to make Betty and Hayes happy. And though Betty was aware of this, she just didn't want to take advantage of his kindness. Or for anyone to say, she was ever there for his money.

While there, they had lunch and James fed the baby his milk. Hayes enjoyed food, that was one thing Betty was proud of. She never had appetit for food as a child, her mother always mentioned that. Hayes took after his father.

There were alot of things that Betty realized Enos and Hayes shared. Aside from the intense similarities in their facial features, they were both quiet and kept to themselves. Hayes never cried, which was surprising to Betty since, a year ago, when she gave the baby to his previous adopted parents, they would complain about Hayes never ending crying. But now, the boy never cried. It was one of her guilty burdens, her absence on the first weeks of his life made the baby so miserable. It was good that Enos was united with Hayes.

After lunch, they headed home, Hayes slept the whole way there and even after they arrived home, he had his eyes closed. The boy was tired and so was Betty and James. They all slept in the main bedroom. Hayes between them. After so long, Betty and James felt safe and sound. Somehow, James felt a calmness inside him. He was genuinely comforted and finally, the universe was in his favor.

He hoped that it would always be this way.

During their time in Malibu, James and Betty planned ahead. Enos and Hayes left first for England after an entire month in Malibu, Betty and James were to accompany them later on after they were done setting things straight.

James and Betty agreed on many things concerning the move, it was decided that it would be best for them to buy a house in Manchester , so they'd be closer to Hayes. It would've been unfair if Enos was the one to adjust to their plans, so James and Betty needed to adjust to Enos and Hayes' life in England.

Betty wasn't sure on whether she'd keep on pursuing her degree in medicine. But James assured her that she did not have to feel pressured on making her choices quickly. They had all the time in the world.

Her heart was no longer willing to take on the course, it was too time consuming and she already wasted years without her son, she wanted to be with him more. She was thinking about pursuing something more flexible for the mean time until she was ready for medicine again. Perhaps she could take on language, she always excelled literature in highschool, it was something she also had passion for. May be this was a good time to start. She could take on Latin and English. It would be an interesting experience. After the course, she could work as a translator, may be even a book editor or a latin tutor, or anything flexible and less time consuming before she continues medicine.

As for James, he had to take care of his mother's company as the only heir to it. Everything was now under his name , it was his mother's request for when he turned twenty four. He wanted to focus on that first before finishing his education. He was also focused on acquiring a comfortable home in Manchester and establishing another branch of the company in England so he wouldn't take so many trips. It's time for the company to expand elsewhere than America. He was discussing this with board members before the accident. Now is the perfect timing.

James pressed charges against Inez for attempted murder but she had fled the country, she was now a wanted criminal. He also opened a chase against his father, the trial was due next year. He was ready and well prepared to take on his father. Betty deserved justice. He wouldn't stop until his father paid.

Once in England , both of them, James and Betty, agreed to go on therapy. It would help them be better people and better parents to Hayes. This was a serious step and they had to be committed to getting better.

James and Betty began to see an actual future together. And they had never been happier.
