《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》The Gatekeepers Promise

Four hours later, and Hilde was sleeping peacefully. She went through a lot when Eir started cleaning the wound, and even more when they placed the wet bandages on her after the first healing session. The would was still very much open and would take a lot more healing before Hilde was ok again.

I sat next to her bed incase she needed anything. Eir assured me that Hilde would be out for a while. They had placed a sleeping spell over her to have her rest better, but I still stayed. I was mostly brewing in my anger and creating a plan to get all of us out of here. I wanted Odin dead for this, but I knew it wasn't the right time. I had to prepare for Infinity War now. I didn't have much time.

When I came up with the beginning blueprint's of a plan, I knew I had to act now, while Hilde was out and Loki and Thor were still in prison. Half of the plan they will know and help with, but the other half only me and one other person could know... Heimdall.

I got up from my seat and bid Eir goodnight before going into my room and shutting the door. I waited a few minutes, just in case Eir came in to talk to me, before teleporting to the rainbow bridge. I only teleported halfway down, so I could think of what to say while I walked.

By the time I got to the Bifrost, I still had nothing. Best to just wing it anyway.

"What brings you to see me at this hour, Princess?" Heimdall questioned. I looked up at the beautiful gatekeeper and sighed.

"Can't I just come to check on a friend?" I asked with a small, playful smirk. Heimdall smiled back with a nod.

"Of course, but that's not what this visit is about. Your Valkyrie is injured. You'd still be by her side if this wasn't important." He told me knowingly, seeing the blood on my clothes.

"Damn you." I sighed and dropped my head.

"Come, dear friend. Tell me what's on your mind." Heimdall chuckled and held his hand out to help me up the stairs.

Since being on Asgard, I've been to see Heimdall quite a bit. I've even had lunch with him and his family a few times. They were good people, especially his son, Astrid, who was a toddler now. The kid had inherited his fathers all-seeing eyes, but his mothers smile and charm.

I reached out to take Heimdall's hand and allowed him to help me up the stairs. We both knew that I didn't need it, but it was a kind gesture. I hugged him when I got on his level and felt him chuckle as one of his arms went around me, the other holding his sword and key to the Bifrost, Hǫfuð.

I took a deep breath and pulled back to look up at him since he was so tall.

"So, what's on your mind?" He asked.

"I... I have to start planning for the future." I explained. Heimdall hummed in acknowledgement to help me continue. "None of Asgard can know."

"And, I assume you're telling me this because I'm part of that plan?" Heimdall smiled as I nodded.

"The big part." I said and looked down at my hands while I rung my fingers. "Odin can't know." I continued. "Frigga can't know. Thor and Loki can't know. Nothing I say leaves us, or all of Asgard will pay." I explained. Heimdall, realizing how serious the situation was, stopped smiling to listen intently. "Thor and Loki will know half the plan, but not the other. Once they are released from the prison, we'll be leaving Asgard."

"I can't use the Bifrost to get you off of Asgard-"

"I know," I interrupted. "I wouldn't ask you to disobey direct orders like that." I told him. "We'll leave by ship and start to Midgard, Me, Thor, Loki, Valkyrie, Bruce, Korg, and Miek." I said. "But, on the way to Midgard, our ship will be captured and boarded by a mad Titian."

Heimdall frowned and straightened his spine as his jaw set tightly. He didn't like his people in danger.

"Loki-" my eyes started watering and I choked up a bit, "Loki is supposed to die then and there." I explained as the tears spilled over quietly.

"I'm guessing you're trying to change that." Heimdall stated which I nodded to.

"I'm... I'm going to switch our positions, and when I do I need you to use the Bifrost to send everyone, but me and Thor, to the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York." I told him. "Thor will be fine, but I need the others on earth."

"What about you?" Heimdall questioned seriously.

"Don't worry about me. This is so much bigger than me." I said, shaking my head. "If we mess this up, half of the entire universe will be wiped out." I emphasize and looked him dead in those gorgeous golden eyes.

"The Princes will have my head when they find out." Heimdall pointed out. I smiled sadly.

"They'll understand."

"You underestimate the Princes love for you, the kingdoms love for you." Heimdall shook his head.

"Well," I shrugged, "you'd at least live longer than you're supposed to." I told him. "You're supposed to die on that ship, too."

Heimdall nodded, taking the news of his death like I told him something mediocre.

"You're sure this is the only way?" He asked. "There isn't a way for you to come out of this alive?"

"The only way? No, but it is the only way that keeps the timeline somewhat together. Everything else depends on if Thanos kills me or not." I said. "But, it's likely that he will."

"A brave sacrifice." Heimdall told me and laid a hand on my shoulder, squeezing it gently before letting go. "Alright, I will do what you wish and send them to Midgard when you call." He agreed. I gave him a shaky smile as my lip trembled.

"Thank you," I nodded and hugged him again before pulling back with a laugh. "Now, how's that kid of yours?"

"Running, full speed into walls now." Heimdall laughed thinking about his son. "Grace and I can barely keep up." He told me fondly. Grace was his beautiful wife and Astrid's mother.

"Has he learned any new words?" I questioned him.

"Sword, ocean, and rainbow. He's obsessed with the palace soldiers." He told me. I smiled as a feeling of longing took hold of me. It might have been because my daughter wouldn't have been that much younger than Astrid. A hand on my shoulder pulled me out of me thoughts. "You're thinking of her again." Heimdall said, an understanding smile on his lips.

"Ya," I nodded and looked down with a sigh.

"Have you remembered anything from your dreams?" He asked me curiously. I sadly shook my head.

"I know that I dream about her and that I'm happy. I can remember her face and eyes from the dream, but I don't remember anything else." I explained. I had dreams about her every night. It was cruel that I couldn't remember them. "How's everyone on Midgard?" I questioned. Heimdall looked out into space for a moment before answering.

"Tony Stark has been keeping the young boy safe. Steve Rogers is in Bulgaria with the twins..." he paused for a moment, squinting his eyes. "And James Barnes is starting his rehabilitation in Wakanda, but their king is having troubles with his cousin."

"Right on track." I sighed a relieved breath.
