《World Of Swords》201 : War

Looking at the endless wave of bugs coming towards the city below him, devouring everything in its path, a frown appeared on Xu Yun's face.
Without any warning, a burst of golden sword qi suddenly smashed toward the endless amount of bugs.
Even though the wave of bugs was nearly unstoppable, becoming stronger and stronger as it devoured more and more life, the moment the first bug touched the sword qi, a chain reaction began.
Waves of golden light spread from one bug to another, completely annihilating every single one they touched.
Xu Yun did not wait for his attack to finish, as he suddenly disappeared, traveling towards another location, searching for more bugs to destroy.
But even after destroying over a hundred waves of bugs, a deep frown still lay on Xu Yun's face.
Even though he was extremely powerful, Xu Yun could still only do so much, and as such, he encountered over fifty destroyed cities while destroying bugs.
Based on his estimates, each one of the cities had at least several billion people living in them, this was not even mentioning those living outside of the city or in villages.
Of course, this would not stop Xu Yun in his quest, he would still continue defeating as many bugs as possible, as well as saving as many people as possible.
Suddenly, Xu Yun raised his head as he stared into the distance with surprise visible on his face.
...
A while ago.
Staring at the little boy who was looking at her, a frown appeared on Xu Yue's face, when suddenly, she disappeared.
Suddenly, the world seemingly became colorless, when a seemingly simple sword suddenly slashed toward the head of the little boy.
As the sword came closer and closer toward the head of the little boy, he suddenly disappeared, appearing some distance away, easily dodging the predictable strike.

A frown then appeared on the face of the little boy.
"What in the world?" mumbled the little boy as he stared at the scene in front of him, the world itself seemed to have begun bending and shifting as the sword still continued on towards his head.
Wanting to try something, the little boy suddenly disappeared once again, appearing several million Li away only a moment later, but even so, the sword still continued toward his head.
It was clearly illogical, the little boy had not only dodged the attack but had even traveled a great distance away, but even so, the sword still came closer and closer to him, as if the distance between them didn't exist at all, as if the world itself bent to the will of the sword.
It was as if him dodging the slash was going against the slash was going against the very will of reality, breaking some fundamental rule of existence.
Suddenly, the little boy raised his head towards the sky, as if searching for something.
But just as the little boy was about to find what he had been searching for, the sword suddenly appeared inside of his head.
For a few moments, a calm expression remained on the face of the little boy, knowing that this was nowhere enough to kill him even though both his body and soul had been smashed to pieces, but suddenly, his expression changed.
As he looked through his fate, the little boy had found what he had been searching for.
He would not dodge that strike, that was his fate.
He would die today, that was his fate.
This was the fate of the little boy, no matter what he did, how much he struggled, or how much power he had.
If he tried to resist it, the consequences might be even more disastrous, as he would be going against fate itself head-on, something even he as a Rank 5 True Immortal did not dare do even in his prime.

It seemed as though a hand had forcefully changed fate itself, molding it to its liking.
'The Dao of Fate, the second most powerful Dao in existence, I shouldn't have underestimated it so much,' thought the little boy as he watched both his body and soul suddenly begin disappearing, being forcefully annihilated by reality itself.
And then, a few moments later, the little boy, an Almighty Rank 5 True Immortal, Apostle of the Endless Devourer, died.
The moment the little boy died, the sword in Xu Yue's hand erupted into a bright light.
"Run away now!!" shouted Yan Yuan as he suddenly manifested next to Xu Yue, the death of the little boy seemingly removing a seal placed on him.
Hearing that, a space crack suddenly appeared behind Xu Yue, who then jumped into it a moment later leaving this place behind.
A few moments after that, a little boy suddenly appeared there once again, but unlike in the past, when he was expressionless, right now he had an angry look on his face.
After all, reviving yourself is not a pleasant thing.
Suddenly the boy stared in a certain direction for a moment, before a portal suddenly appeared before him.
The little boy then stepped into the portal fury still apparent on his face.
...
"I really didn't expect to have to rely on you to survive," said Li Fengfeng as he stared at Xia Jingfei, who had a smile on her face.
At this moment, Li Fengfeng, Ling Chen, Lin Fan and Lin Yun all had a large number of injuries visible on their bodies, with only Xia Jingfei being seemingly fine.
Hearing that, a small smile appeared on Xia Jingfei's face.
"You can repay that favour later, right now you should get moving, I will hold it back for a few moments," said Xia Jingfei, prompting Lin Fan to take out his void ship before flying towards the east.
Seeing this, Xia Jingfei suddenly walked out of the concealing formation, waking straight towards the near-endless wave of bugs, a large smile clearly visible on her face.
Suddenly, a small bug appeared next to Xia Jingfei, taking a bite at her arm.
But sadly for the little bug, the moment it touched Xia Jingfei's arm, its's body suddenly shriveled up, giving Xia Jingfei a small amount of vitality.

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.
