《Worth It》Chapter 8

Marinette spoke too soon. Felix clearly didn't like her at all. She still has yet to get a proper reason out of him why he doesn't. if they do converse, they're having a quarrel of some sort. it's even worse in business class! It's only been a week and she feels exhausted. She still tried as much as she could to get along with the guy but she was losing her mind!
She had ranted to Kagami and Chloe almost every day about it. Both of their reactions were different. Chloe found it hilarious while kagami asked if she needed to come over and deal with him herself.
Marinette sighed as she got herself some pat milk from the fridge to use for her hot chocolate. When she closed the fridge door, she turned and let out a shriek.
"Could you not be so loud?" Said Felix with a screwed face.
"You scared me! Why are you just standing behind me like that?!" She didn't even hear any footsteps coming from behind! Her ladybug-senses decided not to be active at that point.
"I was obviously waiting for you to get whatever it is that you needed from the fridge. Can you move?"
Marinette bristled, "at least make me aware of you're presence then!"
"Not my problem if you didn't hear me now is it? Perhaps you should get your ears checked,"
"You little-"
"It's been a week and you're already arguing like some married couple,"
Marinette and Felix turned and glared at Claude.
Claude just laughed at their reaction, "alright, alright! could've fooled me,"
Marinette just grumbled, not bothering to respond and went towards the kettle which had just finished boiling.
"Whatcha making? " Claude asked, peering over the girl's shoulder.
"Hot chocolate. I deserve it after the long day I've had. I can make you some if you like,"
"I knew I liked you for a reason shortcake! Lots of whipped cream for me please,"
Marinette playfully rolled her eyes and grabbed another mug from the cupboard.
"I will never understand the appeal for such a childish drink," Felix muttered loud enough for the other two to hear.

"Aw, you're such a hater Felix,"
"Yeah, you're such a hater Felix," Marinette parroted but with more mock and spite in her tone which made the blonde's brow twitch.
"The only other hot drink you enjoy besides coffee is green tea. Sugarless even! Boring much?" Said Marinette with a smirk.
"So? It benefits me more than a sugar-filled drink like that,"
"It's better than what you like," Marinette shot back, "Hot chocolate, especially mine, is one of the best drinks to exist!"
"Tch. Liar."
Something flashed in Marinette's blue eyes and her smirk dropped so quickly in a way that shocked the two boys a little. It looked like she was...hurt? For a split moment before she had a bright smile on her face.
"Here you go Claude. Marinette's hot chocolate with extra whipped cream like you asked,"
Claude gave her a wary smile. The way her emotions changed so fast like that was so off to him.
"Thank you shortcake," He took the mug, took a sip of the beverage, and hummed in delight, "it's really good. Just as I expected,"
"Thanks Claude. Anyways, I've got some work to do...um, yeah! Bye!"
And with that, the small ravenette grabbed some cookies and cheese and then sped out of the room leaving the two boys alone in the kitchen.
"That was strange...did you see that?"
"What?" Felix asked as he poured the remaining hot water into his mug.
"The way her face just...changed like that! That was...so out of character. I don't know!"
"So? She's been here a week. What do you know so well about her character?"
"More than you for sure. All you two do is argue,"
"She's the bane of my existence,"
Claude rolled his eyes, "she's a lovely girl Felix. You should ease up a bit,"
"I don't know the girl nor do I like the girl. I don't need to be nice just because you guys, for whatever reason, like her,"
Claude let out a long sigh, "whatever man. But you did see the way her face changed right?"

"Ues but that doesn't have an effect on my life so I'm not bothered,"
"Sometimes I wonder why I'm friends with you,"
"I wonder the same," Felix said before he also left.
When Marinette closed her bedroom door, she let out a shaky sigh. She placed her hot mug on her side table and shook her head as negative memories from her old classmates flooded her mind.
Being called a liar triggered her even though she did her best to hide it. She felt the way her face suddenly changed and hoped Felix and Claude didn't notice.
She isn't a liar. Lila is the one who lies. Not her.
"You alright Marinette?"
Marinette smiled at her Kwami, "y-yeah. Just some bad memories is all..."
Marinette gave Tikki some cookies and gave Plagg some cheese.
"I still think you should've let me use my cataclysm on that liar," Plagg said with a mouthful of Cambembert.
"That's murder Plagg," said Marinette.
"They wouldn't know it was me. I can turn her to dust,"
"Plagg, no."
"Plan B?"
"Plagg!"
"Alright! Alright no cataclysm," Plagg gave in with a sigh. Tikki and Marinette giggled.
"Really though guys, I'm ok. I'm fine,"
The two Kwamis looked at their guardian and then at each other. They trusted Marinette. She looked ok but they could never be sure.
Buzz buzz
Marinette went to her Macbook that was ringing on her desk. Chloe was Facetiming her and Kagami. She answered and their faces were now displayed on her screen.
"Mari-bug, Kags, boy do I have some news to tell you both!"
"What happened to hello, how was your day?" Marinette chuckled. Kagami also had an amused look on her face.
Chloe rolled her eyes, "How was your day? Good? So was mine. Now then, about what happened today-"
"What did they do this time?" Both Marinette and kagami asked.
"So basically, I was in your parent's bakery getting some orders for the hotel right, and the class just stormed in while I was talking to Sabine,"
Marinette frowned, "what did they do?"
"They started demanding to see you because apparently you broke into her house and stole her designs for MDC,"
"Then what?" Asked Kagami.
"Then they demanded that Sabine should give them a bunch of food for free because Lila's appendix would burst if she didn't eat,"
"How dare they! And do they not hear the words coming out of their mouths? Her appendix was about to burst my butt!" Marinette fumed for a moment but then looked concerned.
"What did my mother do about it?"
Chloe grinned, "see this is the best part. Your mother didn't do anything,"
"So you're saying that she just took what they were doing?!"
"No Mari-bug. She gave them that scary death glare she does of course. But before she could say anything Tom stormed in from the kitchen and grilled them to dust!"
"My father did? No way!" Marinette replied in response.
Chloe showed them the video that she secretly took of the incident. The two Asians looked surprised and impressed at the same time.
"Wow...I never would've expected that from your father Mari. I'm impressed,"
"So am I but that's scary coming from him. If it were mama then I wouldn't be as dumbfounded as I am right now,"
"It was hilarious! They all ran out with their tails between their legs. Oh, that's made my week! They also weren't too happy when they finally learned that you left the school."
Marinette rolled her eyes, "I couldn't care less about those guys. I'm happier here and it's been a week!"
The trio of friends continued to talk about their day and other various topics until it got late and Marinette heard a nick on her door. They said their goodbyes and Marinette looked through the peephole to see who was there.
Marinette opened the door and smiled, "Hey Allegra. What's up?"
"Gonna join us for dinner?" The blonde asked.
Marinette looked at the clock. It was just after 7pm.
"Oh man, sorry for the holdup. I was talking to my other friends" Marinette apologised. They usually have dinner just after 6.
Allegra shook her head, "no worries. The cafeteria doesn't close until 8:30 remember? Anyway, it'll just be you and me since the boys decided to eat without us,"
"Fine by me," Marinette smiled and closed her door, "let's go!"
