《Worth It》Chapter 7

Marinette is quite happy with how her day is going so far. The only tiring thing she's had to deal with is other students almost begging her to sit with them, join their group, boys asking if she's single and whatnot.
Marinette was currently in her room decorating since she had a free period. Allegra was with her too.
"So how are you finding the school so far? Is it to your liking?" the blonde asked.
Marinette smiled and nodded, "yeah much more than I thought,"
"I heard a little rumour,"
Marinette nearly froze. Whatever it was she was already thinking it was negative.
"W-What did you hear?" Marinette asked
"That you outshone Felox during business class today,"
Marinette sighed in relief internally, "Oh that? It was nothing,"
Allegra chuckled, "that wasn't nothing Marinette. Felix is at the top of, I think, all his classes and never gets an answer wrong when he's asked. the fact that he fumbled once and the whole class witnessed it is pretty funny to me,"
Marinette blushed lightly, "It somehow turned into a contest,"
"Which you won! You beat the Ice King. Many students would say that's an achievement. And Felix never loses. He hates it,"
"Ice King?" Marinette deadpanned.
Allegra laughed at her reaction, "yes! when we first met him he was cold. He wasn't nice. I really disliked him you know. I was always annoyed whenever Claude dragged him over to us,"
"What changed?" Marinette asked.
Allegra looked like she was deep in thought for a moment. As if there was trying to be careful with her answer.
"I got to know him, even if he didn't want to get to know us at first. Claude obviously got through to him first. He has that effect on people,"
Marinette giggled, "yeah Claude is really sweet,"
"Felix honestly isn't bad. He can be rude and snarky but he's nice-ish with those he likes and that's a very small number."
Marinette nodded, "right. Do you think- oh wait, I basically embarrassed him in class! There is no way he'll wanna be friends with me let alone tolerate me!"
Allegra blinked at Marinette's sudden panic, "Calm down Marinette you'll be fine. He may be moody about it but you'll be fine!"
Marinette stared at the blonde.
Allegra smiled sheepishly, "I think,"
Marinette huffed and went back to organising her fabrics.
Lila was feeling restless. Marinette wasn't in school and Lila had lies ready to make her miserable.
She would have found a way to ask Chloe but she knew that wouldn't work. She always thought that she would become friends with Chloe since she apparently also disliked Marinette. That would have most likely happened if she hadn't gone back to New York and come back a new person.

Ugh.
It also didn't help that Sabrina didn't have any useful information to use against Chloe. They used to be best friends after all. Lila thought she'd have at least one juicy secret about the Mayor's daughter she could maybe blackmail her with or something.
"Hey girl, did you hear what I said?"
Lila was pulled out of her thoughts and she smiled at Alya and shook her head.
"Sorry I couldn't hear you that well for a moment. Mind repeating?"
"Sure! I was asking if Jagged Stone got back to you about letting me interview him,"
'Of course she was still on about that,' Lila thought, "Oh sorry Alya, he says he wishes he could but he's been so busy lately,"
"But it's been months now," Alya replied sadly
Lila teared up and Alya panicked
"D-Dont cry Lila, it's fine! Really it is. I was only hoping to update the Ladyblog soon is all,"
The Italian stopped crying, "Well I can tell you about the time MDC flew me to Thailand!"
Adrien just sighed as Lila began to ramble on about her 'trip'. This would all blow over soon. Lila would grow out of this lying phase eventually. His mind still wondered why Marinette wasn't in today.
Marinette and Allan had both finished their classes and had met up in the hallway to walk to the canteen to meet the others for lunch.
"Soooo how's your day been so far Mari?" Allan asked.
"Ummm...interesting. I mean, I am the new girl after all. But I am used to getting attention of some sort,"
Something about the way Marinette talked about attention didn't sit too well with Allan but he decided not to pry for now.
"At least you seem to be enjoying yourself. Though a new person hasn't been talked about as much as you have,"
Marinette sighed, "mostly because of what happened in business class. I still don't see the big fuss over it,"
Allan chuckled, "Understandable. Had you been here long enough then you would but I see what you mean though. People will find something different to gossip about later anyway,"
"Good,"
"So what was your old school like? I nearly applied for Dupont but chose here instead so I'm interested to know,"
'Good thing you chose here then' Marinette thought to herself, "it was...well it was interesting, to say the least. I'm not the best person to ask,"
Allan quirked a curious brow, "oh? And why's that? From what I've heard it's a good school,"

"Everyone's experience is different. Mine was... ok," Marinette shrugged.
"You sure?" Allan wasn't convinced. As chill as he is, he can read people pretty well.
"Yep! Oh look I see the others," Marinette pointed at one of the tables in the corner where Allegra, Claude and Felix were. Claude was waving at them to come over.
The two of them sat down and marinette pulled out a container which contained a few treats on them.
"Damn those look really good!"
"You look like a drooling puppy, close your mouth Claude," Allegra teased.
Claude rolled his eyes and looked like he was going to say something back but Marinette interfered.
"You can all try some if you like. I intended to share with at least someone today while they're still fresh from the bakery,"
"God has blessed us today then, don't mind if I do," said Allan as he took an eclair from the box. Allegra took two strawberry macaroons while Claude took a crepe, a plain croissant and a chocolate chip croissant.
The three of them took a bit f their treats and they had sparkles in their eyes.
"I now know what heaven tastes like," Claude said between bites.
"These are amazing! I know who to call to make my cake for my birthday!" said Allegra, "I may ask my mother to bring some treats over soon actually,"
"These didn't disappoint. Not that I thought they would,"
"You impressed the picky eater shortcake. Another achievement to add to your list!"
"Hey! I'm not that picky,"
"Yes, you are,"
Marinette then realised that Felix hadn't said a word and was sitting at least a metre away from Claude, indulged in whatever book he was reading. She silently gulped and shook away her nerves and walked up to him since she was sitting between Allegra and Allan.
"um, Felix?"
Felix just hummed in response without looking up from his book.
Marinette placed her container down, "you haven't said anything to us yet. Would you also like to try one of these and join the conversation?"
"No."
"A-Are you sure?"
"Dupain-Cheng I think you heard my response already,"
'Dupain-Cheng? Does he not remember my first name or something?' Marinette frowned "hmph, I was just trying to be nice, you don't need to be rude!" Marinette said back as she picked up her container.
"Good thing I wasn't asking for your niceness then was I?"
Marinette's eye twitched in annoyance. Is this what those three have to deal with every day? Is this really what they put up with when they met the guy?
"What is your problem?! Is this because of business class this morning? If so then that's a silly reason to be this rude to me,"
Marinette saw the blonde's jaw clench and his chest puffed out, clearly annoyed with her.
"You think I'm bothered about that?"
"Marinette smirked as Felix looked up, "probably, I hear you've never fumbled like that before in class until I came,"
Felix glared at her, "I don't know what you're trying to achieve here. leave me alone,"
Marinette rolled her eyes, "Well I was just trying to be nice and you have a problem with me clearly,"
"I was fine until you disturbed me and you're still there,"
"You want me to leave?"
"Yes,"
His bluntness and rude responses were really starting to annoy her more than she expected. she took in a deep breath and turned away from him without saying another word and sat back where she was.
"Well...how'd that go then?"
Marinette lightly glared at the brunette who was still stuffing his face, "I think you heard that conversation, if not, you know how that went,"
"Don't deep it Mari, he'll come around," said Allan.
Marinette huffed and whispered, "I still can't believe you had the patience to deal with him. He's so... he's just so-"
"blunt?" Allegra finished,
"I was going to say rude but he's that too! Gosh! I only asked if he wanted a treat and to join the conversation. He also called me by my last name. did he forget your names when you first met him too?" Marinette chuckled as she took an eclair for herself.
"Well, that's new. I mean, he hardly talked to us at all when we first met, he had no reason to call us by any of our names to begin with," Allegra shrugged, "but he calls us by our first names, now though"
For some reason, Marinette seemed a little upset by that. Maybe he really just doesn't like her. but he doesn't have a reason not to! Well, at the same time, he's not obligated to like her. marinette shook her head. She wasn't going g to let Felix affect her. The others are right. It's day one and Felix may come around eventually. she shouldn't force her friendship on anyone. Just let it happen naturally. She's sure that he'll at least tolerate her presence soon.
