The sun was shining through her window, the warmth tickling the girl's eyes. Her eyes remained closed. For some reason she felt unusually at peace.
"Wait..a minute..." She mumbled to herself, opening her eyes slowly to glance at the clock right next to her bed. A wave of shock. It was already 10 o'clock.
For god's sake she had a measly 15 minutes left to prepare herself for her job interview!
Taking one of the clothing pieces on the ground, she wrapped the jacket loosely around her shoulders and stood up. Her head was still hammering, but it wasn't enough for her to stop heading towards her kitchen with fast steps.
And there, her eyes were about to pop out of her skull.
Not only was Jungwon standing there in her father's clothes and in her house.
But he also was doing the dishes, something that she hated doing so much.
"Jungwon." Was the only thing she said, catching his attention immediately.
"Are you up already?" He didn't turn around to her and finished cleaning the last plate, before turning off the water faucet.
"You..." She was speechless and only a hand motion away from rubbing her eyes and pinching herself to make sure what she was seeing was true.
"Yes, I'm actually here and no, you are not dreaming." The boy smiled, drying off his hands before turning around to her, "I actually wanted to leave yesterday, but it seemed like you—"
didn't want me to.
"Don't...don't end that sentence." Ji quickly interrupted him, her face turning beet red, "I fucking dare you."
She had said something dumb again in her state of vulnerability and illness, of course.
Jungwon just grinned, one corner of his mouth was raised slightly higher than the other, causing her to grow even more nervous.
"I..have to leave now. My job interview is waiting—" She would stammer.
Avoiding his eyes, she looked away. When her gaze travelled to the calendar on her kitchen counter, she would let out a relieved sigh, letting herself drop onto one of her chairs.
"Thank the lords, I don't have to prepare myself for the job interview." Ji's head dropped onto her dining table, her arms stretched out. Like a stranded whale she laid there, every ounce of energy leaving her body in relief, "I thought I had to show up looking like this."
Jungwon chuckled next to her. She heard him placing a plate right next to her head, making her look up again.
"Breakfast..?" She mumbled.
"I'm not a good cook." He immediately raised both of his arms to clarify and only now she recognized the pink apron he was wearing. The girl smiled.
"Thank you.."
"As compensation. Since you let me stay over." Jungwon returned the smile and sat down as well.
Only now it hit her how unbelievable it actually was that he was here. In her house.
He stayed over.
He slept at her place.
At this her face turned red again as she buried her face in her hands, internally cursing.
Jungwon didn't miss her flustered expression, but decided to leave it uncommented, "And you saved me from my enraged manager and his 10 missed calls."
Her eyes widened, "Shouldn't you call him back?"
"I told the others that I would stay at my family's place for today." He put his head on his hand, "I'm totally free today, so...what about we make up for the last dinner that you wanted to treat me?"

Flirty bastard.
"Shut up, cat face." She rolled her eyes, gulping at the thought of her current bank statement, "I have to prepare myself for my job interview tomorrow."
"Do you want me to help?"
"No, definitely not." She retorted, "I already owe you big time, I can't risk losing my kidney to you to make up for all the times you helped me."
"Do you feel better?" Suddenly his hand was on her forehead again in a familiar manner, "Your fever has lessened..."
"Y-Yeah, thanks again." Ji managed to slightly look up into his eyes, before immediately looking away again, "For everything. I really wasn't feeling well yesterday. I guess in some way...you saved me."
"I'm glad you feel better." He smiled warmly at her, his eyes turning luminescent. At least from her point of view.
"And I'm sorry for being such a bitch to you too." She would add, letting her shoulders slouch, "Things were so overwhelming for me that I couldn't really control what I was saying. And..I wasn't used to that kind of treatment as well. Things felt new to me. Of course this doesn't excuse any of my actions, but—"
"You have no reason to apologize." Jungwon couldn't help but laugh wholeheartedly, "You had every right to act the way you did. It was me who blocked you first and it was me who startled you in the middle of the night. I shouldn't have searched for your house when you didn't feel comfortable enough to tell me in the first place."
When she stayed silent, he added, "I guess we both just acted on impulse yesterday."
The girl nodded, "But I'm glad you did. I think I..wouldn't have gotten better this fast if you didn't show up."
Jungwon stayed quiet at this and took another bite of the rice he cooked. She followed his action, before clearing her throat and adding in a low voice,
"And maybe...I did enjoy your company. A little."
"Really?" There was that grin of his again.
I couldn't help but look away, chewing the omelette he made vigorously. Why the fuck was it so good?
"I will go freshen up." I stood up after hurriedly finishing my bowl of rice. I was still embarrassed and had to leave. I couldn't be in the same space as him any longer.
Not giving him time to comment, I quickly ran off.
"What the actual fuck is going on?" I mumbled to myself. It was more a statement than a question. After sprinkling lots of water droplets on my face and taking care of the mess of hair that was on my head, I decided to go out of my bathroom again, afraid that Jungwon was lurking around, finding embarrassing childhood photos of mine.
Even though I was sure that there was nothing I could get the slightest attached to or anything that would remind me of my childhood, I still wanted to make sure.
"Jungwon—" I called for him, when I didn't find him in the kitchen anymore. Since it took me three steps to go from one corner to the other in my tiny apartment, it didn't take long till I found him in my hallway.
Which I would never call hallway. It was only the small space which would eventually lead to outside if one walked through the door. It wasn't even two quadratmeters big. And it was packed with everything I couldn't store in my living room. Umbrellas. Picture frames. Vases.

It wasn't a hallway.
Jungwon was crouching down, his back was facing me. I approached him with a small step.
That's when I noticed woncat right next to him and the broken picture frame which I still couldn't bring myself to clean up.
"Let me help you clean it up." He spoke, again without looking at me. He continued to pet the little cat that was busy putting its tiny paw on the boy's knees.
That boot-licker of a kitten.
"You were never that affectionate with me before." I slightly pouted and crossed my arms at the cat, before crouching down as well. Since the hallway/not-really-hallway was that narrow, mine and Jungwon's arms touched which I would only realize when it was too late to stand up again without making things awkward.
"Oh, I—"I stammered, trying to back off, but he would simply grab my arm, making sure I wouldn't lose balance.
"She's so cute." Jungwon smiled, referring to the little parasite living in my home. His face was slightly red.
I raised an eyebrow.
He never blushed that visibly before, "Yeah...wonca—" I immediately stopped mid-way sentence, covering my mouth.
There's no way I would tell him this damned cat's name, "Yeah, she's..very cute...Taking after her mother, you know." I laughed awkwardly.
How much I wanted to punch myself right now.
"What's her name?" Jungwon continued, now carrying the small cat in his arms.
Traitor. You would never let me carry you.
I had to try my best to not melt here and then at the sight, when I looked away, "Uh, junglost."
"What? You really named her that?!" Jungwon sounded astonished as he looked down to woncat in disbelief. The cat didn't budge or react.
"Y-Yeah, you've got a problem with that?" I stammered.
"Yes! That's a terrible name—"
I hit his shoulder and rolled my eyes, causing him to lose his balance for a second.
"All she does is take my money by having to go to the vet every week." I mumbled and stood up, afraid that my legs would cramp if I stayed there any longer, "And sleep. Even yesterday when I was on the verge of dying, all she did was sleep peacefully in her bed."
"That's why I didn't see her." Jungwon chuckled at this, when all of a sudden he sneezed, startling me.
"Sorry..."
That's when it struck me.
"Jungwon? Weren't you allergic to cats?" I squinted my eyes, tilting my head at him.
"Kind of?"
"You should have stayed away from her!" I scolded the boy, who was leaning against the kitchen counter, slightly leaning down for me while I was trying to open the package of eye drops I found in my medication box.
"She went to me first...I couldn't push her away. She was too adorable." Jungwon whined, rubbing his eyes again. I stopped him by grabbing his hands, glaring at him seriously.
"You could have gotten a serious allergic reaction."
"My allergy isn't that bad—"
"Look at your eyes! You look like a vampire after feeding off a human." I shook my head, placing my hand on the side of his face and making him look up.
"I..can do it alone."
"No, let me do it." I narrowed my eyes. After I saw his pupils move upward, I would slowly come closer to make sure I wouldn't miss his eyes.
It was then when I noticed how beautiful his glistening eyes actually were.
"Are you going to give me the eye drops or continue to stare at me all day long?"
"Sorry." Shit, Shit, Shit.
I apologized right away, shaking my head to snap out of it.
"Thank you." He would smile and blink after I finished, "Now we are even. You can stop feeling indebted to me now."
"This is nothing compared to what you did for me." I snickered and made the distance between us bigger.
I was surprised. We were closer than I thought.
"You are making it seem like I saved your life." He chuckled, making me stare at him seriously.
Maybe you did.
"I will go clean up that broken picture frame now." I changed the topic and looked away again, "For some reason you motivated me to finally get rid of it. The glass pieces might be dangerous for woncat too—"
"Woncat?"
Ah, Fuck.
"Wait a minute..her name's woncat?" Jungwon's smile grew wider after he realized, "Are you serious? That's so much cuter than junglost. Why did you lie to me?"
He couldn't contain his laughters and I felt warmth rush to my cheeks again.
Shaking my head, I immediately left, too embarrassed to answer or give him any more of my attention.
I went to pick up a broom and went to the broken picture to clean it up.
The reason why I never brought myself to clean it up wasn't because I was lazy, but because I couldn't bring myself to look at it again. It took me a bit of an effort to turn around the photo which wasn't affected by the broken pieces of the frame at all.
The only family photo to ever exist in this house.
Swallowing, I picked it up and immediately stuffed it into my jacket's pocket, before cleaning up the glass pieces.
"Be careful..." Jungwon approached me, still smiling.
His smile would drop when he noticed my solemn expression, "Wait, are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?"
"No, I didn't." I breathed out and stood up, "I'm fine. But...I think you should leave now."
I couldn't let him see me being down again. Vulnerable.
"What?" A frown was visible on his face. He wasn't buying it.
"The other members must be worried about you." I quickly looked away, the heavy feeling in my chest spreading, "And your manager, as well. I'm sure you have a lot of schedules you need to attend—"
"Ji, what's wrong?" He asked and I noticed woncat approaching us carefully, stopping to stand between us. She first glanced to Jungwon. Then to me. Back to Jungwon and then to me again.
"Nothing. I just need time for myself now." I put on a weak smile to convince him.
And even though I was a hundred percent sure he wasn't convinced, he left. Leaving me alone again.
In the same four walls that I wouldn't call home and in the same hallway that I wouldn't call hallway.
