I refuse to let y'all disrespect 'Pass The Dutchie' in front of me.
~ Scarlett's POV ~
The day began to go into the night and Delilah, Kylee, Jayla, Cora, Xiomara and Jaysean were now over at the Waltons house as we decided to have a night pool party but just us.
I was sitting beside the pool, going through different apps that i didn't know that i had on my phone when I got a dm from someone on Instagram, i didn't trust anyone who dm'd me so I just read the message to myself.
Hello Scarlett! I'm Marcus Aurelius, a small producer from Atlanta, i just saw your new song on YouTube and it totally rocks! You're a talented child, I was hoping to get into contact with your manager to see if you would like to write a song for the new Netflix series 'In The Ruins'.
If interested, message me back with your Manager's Gmail and/or number, have a great day!
I couldn't believe the message I read, i reread it over and over again before standing up and squealing in excitement.
Jaden got out of the pool and walked over to me as he ran his fingers through his now wet hair, i looked at him and handed him my phone.
I waited for a moment and then Jaden grabbed my hand and squealed with me, we jumped up and down together before sharing the news with everyone.
Eventually, i called my parents and asked them to come over so that i could tell them the good news in person, i also needed a manager so i was hoping it would be Alana.
When my parents finally arrived, i quickly ran inside with all of my friends trailing behind me, I got to my dad all out of breath but I didn't need to say anything except hand him my phone and point at the dm.

I did so very happily, my mom and dad read the dm out loud and then they looked at one another in a shocked expression.
"Well firstly, you need a manager and secondly, how would we even know that this is an actual producer?"
My dad asked as we walked to the living room, i sighed and looked at Jaden who was shrugging his shoulders which was absolutely no help at all.
Alana looked at me and then grabbed my phone, she types a few things and I watched her click send.
When they gave me my phone back, i had to see what they wrote to the producer guy.
I was ecstatic when the messages i saw were all about Alana's Gmail, I turned my phone off and thanked my parents before walking back to the pool with my friends.
A couple of days passed and there was some communication with the guy, I was slowly giving up on hope thinking they wouldn't want me until this morning.
I did my daily routine and walked down the stairs when my phone got a dm, i looked at it and shrieked in happiness as I got job.
Since i got the job, that meant that it was time to celebrate so i changed clothes and left my house to go hang out with my friends.
I got to the Waltons house and knocked on the door happily, i already texted everyone on the way here the good news so Jessica congratulated me when she opened the door.
There was nothing that i loved more than music and so writing a theme song for a TV show is definitely a big step for me.
Right now everyone was in the backyard again in the pool, i didn't have a bathing suit but Jayla left spares so i took one and got into the pool.

I grabbed my phone and began to play 'Pass The Dutchie', it's a good song so I just had to play it.
As soon as the song began, everyone looked at me weird as i began to vibe to the lyrics although I only understood the chorus that really wasn't the point.
"Scar, are you seriously playing this song?"
Javon asked as everyone began to tease me for liking the song but not understanding it, i just roller my eyes and turned the music off before getting out of the pool and wrapping a towel around my body.
I refuse to let y'all disrespect 'Pass The Dutchie' in front of me.
I laughed a bit and then walked into the house where I played with Daelo until i got tired and decided to go home, I messaged Jaden that i drove home so he didn't freak out.
This was only the beginning of my journey as w song writer and singer.
Or was it the end of the adventure that I've been on for the seventeen years of my life?
