Chapter 14, Welcome To The World
I may not be the perfect sister, but I'll be here for you until I die.
It's a Friday night, I'm stuck on my history homework and nobody is answering their calls.
It's been five days since the incident and I've been doing a lite better, I'm still getting headaches but I've been eating and only working out with Javon and Jaden.
Since nobody wanted to pick up my call, I decided that I wouldn't want to do my homework until someone calls.
So I laid down on my bed and scrolled through TikTok, I wasn't about to break my mind on any type of homework.
Anyways, I decided to put my phone to charge and that I would take a nice nap since I was exhausted from the whole day.
Turns out, my dad called the school about the bullying thing which may or may not have resulted in Meredith and Kat getting expelled from the school.
Then my dad called Layla's parents, which resulted in her getting her phone taken away and not being allowed to act until she finishes school.
I was pretty glad that, that happened but I also managed to feel bad at the same time although I knew I shouldn't be feeling that.
I turned my TV on and skipped through the channels when all of a sudden I heard a scream, I jolted out of bed and quickly sprinted out of my room.
As I walked downstairs, I had socks on by the way, I stepped in something wet.
"Call your father, my water broke!"
Alana shouted in agony, I looked down and gagged before taking my socks off and leaving them beside the water.
I ran upstairs and grabbed my phone, speed dialing my father and rushing him to get home now.
"She has a to-go bag in our closet, I need you to go inside of there grab it."
My father requested but you see, I don't like digging through adults closet because whatever is in there is not worth seeing.
Trust me, I've been through and done that.
"No way! I don't need to see anything!"

I refused as I grabbed my own to-go bag from my closet, tossing my laptop, laptop charger, phone charger, airpods, airpods charger and some other thing.
Before my father had the chance to yell at me, I ran to his room and grabbed the bag without looking inside of the closet.
"Relax, I got the bag. Should I just drive her to the hospital?!"
Now the realization sank in, I was panicking.
My father said I should do that and that we would meet up at the hospital.
I grabbed both bags and ran downstairs, I left the house and placed the bags in the backseat before running back inside and grabbing my mom's hand.
"God!"
Alana shouted, I felt bad because her contractions were seriously dragging her to hell at this point and I couldn't do anything about it.
I opened the door and placed her inside, putting her seatbelt on.
I ran to the driver's side and then put my seatbelt on, I checked the rear view mirror and just like that, I'm speeding down the empty streets.
Of course not too fast that it could cause a crash nor could it cause the police to chase after me, when I arrived to the hospital, I used the emergency drive.
I got out and walked over to the door, I opened the passengers door and helped my mom out of the car.
After a moment of her getting out, she screamed louder and that's when I knew there was no minute to lose.
"HELP! PLEASE?!"
I began to scream, alerting nurses and doctors who ran out of the hospital.
When they saw my mom, they placed her in a wheel chair and just like that, she's in the room doing some check ups and breathing exercises.
"Hey, kiddo!"
My dad greeted me as he ran inside, I stood up from the waiting room's chair and hugged him tightly with a smile dancing on my face.
"Room 204, go ahead and watch your son be born. Now that I said that it sounds disgusting but, you know what I mean."
My dad laughed and kissed my forehead before walking to the room, I sat alone for an hour before all my friends ran into the hospital.

"Hey honey, how's your mom doing?"
Jessica asked as she hugged me tightly, I looked at her and gav her a thumbs up before hugging DJ.
"She's in room 204, I think my mom would like to have you be there with her. You too DJ."
Jessica and DJ smiled and patted my back before walking off to the room.
"How exciting is this?"
Kylee asked as she sat down next to me, Jayla and Cora stood in front of me, trying to come up with boy names.
"It's nerve-wracking, that's what this is."
I answered honestly, Xiomara ran in with Alejandro and Rosalía.
I got up and ran over to her, she hugged me tightly and we smiled.
"Alejandro, room 204."
Alejandro nodded and hugged me before dispersing to the room, at this point it's about to be a party in that room.
But those people are my dad's best friends and mom's best friends, I'm sure they would want their friends there.
"I'm sorry, am I late?"
Xiomara asked, I shook my head and we walked to the friends.
Jaden came back from the cafeteria with Javon and Jaysean, they all had coffees, juice and other snacks.
Jaden handed me a mango juice with a chocolate chip muffin, he kissed me softly as we sat down.
My heart was racing and I was literally going feral.
"Hey, relax."
Javon told me as he gave Daelo some of his chips, I looked at him and smiled at him gratefully.
I took a deep breath and stood up, beginning to pace around to waiting room.
It was now around 3:16 in the morning, I was laying on Jaden's chest as his arms around wrapped around my waist with a blanket covering us.
His heartbeat was slow and steady, making it very calming to listen to.
I fell asleep to it, but the sleep didn't last long when I heard screaming.
"What's going on?!"
I jolted up, I watched as Jessica ran out with a smile on her face.
"Scar, he's here!"
I looked at all of my friends, I had the biggest smile that stretched from ear to ear.
Without a second thought, I ran from the waiting room and into the room, where I watched my baby brother get cleaned up by the nurses.
"Mom.. you did it."
I walked to Alana's side and kissed her forehead, she gave me a lazy smile and yawned.
Then my baby brother was back in her arms, getting breastfed.
"He's adorable, looks nothing like you dad."
I joked, as my dad looked at me and chuckled.
Alana lifted him up, I looked at her and she motioned me to grab him.
"Support the head, make sure your arms are securing his little body."
Alana told me as I sat down and held my brother, everyone was now in the room.
I looked at my father and mother, they just stared at him and I with awe.
"Well, did you guys come up with a name?"
Jayla and Cora asked in unison, they were seriously going crazy because they needed the perfect name for the baby.
My mom and dad looked at each other and they seemed to have a horrified face, they didn't have a name for the baby.
"Lord, we're already bad parents to the poor baby."
Alana said as she looked away, Jayla just chuckled and walked over to her.
"Cora and I actually think we have a good name for him."
I looked up from my brother and at them, now we were all curious on what the name was.
"Atlantis Delmonico.."
I looked down at my brother and his eyes were now open, I felt tears sting my eyes as they threatened to fall.
I smiled down at him and to that, he smiled back making my heart melt at the sight.
I may not be the perfect sister, but I'll be here for you until I die.
I whispered to my brother as he held on to my finger tightly, I smiled at him.
Welcome to the world, Atlantis.

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
