《How I Slayed A Dragon》Chapter 103

(Nov 30)
The moment Briggs went full berserk, an absurd amount of his curse miasma was released, causing everyone who touches it to immediately be cursed.
Even among all curse and debuffs, Brigg’s curse miasma would be considered a very powerful one since it can literally cut off all your senses leaving you devoid of sensation.
Most A rankers should be able to resist the curse, but anything under would have little to no chance against it.
As such, almost all of the soldier from both our kingdom and the Kenava were indiscriminately cursed the moment Brigg’s curse miasma washed over the village.
I wasn’t exactly sure of the situation, but even an idiot like me could tell it wasn’t good.
The curse miasma around Briggs wasn’t even weakening either, it was growing at an exponential rate.
His curse miasma started to become so dense, it formed a hyper compressed black armour around Brigg’s entire body and head.
He didn’t even look like a berserker at this point, he looked more like a fully cladded death knight.
Full berserker Briggs didn’t move. He simply stood there motionless.
This surprised me since whenever he went berserk, he would attack wildly and yet in full berserk, he didn’t.
Instead of getting goosebumps, dragon scales formed on my arm as I slowly figured what was going on.
Brigg’s anger and fury was being hyper condensed and suppressed inside of him like a silent rage about to explode at any moment.
Imagine his emotions as a raging fire. Fire is wild and runs rampant, but if you condense it into a fireball, it becomes much hotter and more explosive when let loose.
That is Brigg’s current state. His body was struggling to contain his emotions.
Brigg’s berserk powers grow stronger when he takes damage, but it also applies for internal damage as well.
By suppressing that absurd energy and fury inside of him, it tears him apart from within which counts as getting hurt, thus making him even stronger.
He essentially uses his powers to destroy himself, leading to exponential growth in strength, which he then utilizes to perpetuate the cycle of self-inflicted damage, resulting in a continuous increase in power.
It’s literally an infinite strength growth exploit at the cost of immense pain and potentially his own life.
Because of this, his powers became much denser and more compressed then ever before while simultaneously growing in strength without even needing anyone else to injure him.

I had already lost my feeling of fear to dragonification, but for some reason my body was slightly trembling.
Although I wasn’t afraid, both my body and instincts were.
My dragon essence, which is usually very aggressive, was now cowering in front of Brigg’s curse miasma.
His overwhelming power was suppressing my dragon essence…
I had heard about Brigg’s full berserk from several people, and they were not exaggerating.
Frankly, I totally understand why the Kenava tried to take down Briggs first considering how dangerous he is… to both his enemies and allies.
Two more bullets accelerated towards Briggs.
However, the moment the bullets came into contact with his curse miasma, they were immediately disintegrated into atomic dust.
Briggs slowly turned his head towards the direction of the bullets and extended his arm forward.
As he did so, his curse miasma all swarmed towards his palm, and formed into the shape of a massive black greatsword.
It didn’t even take a single second for it to happen.
He raised his greatsword.
He swung down.
Whoomph.
A black abyssal explosion burst forth from his blade decimating everything in its path.
The sky itself was torn apart.
Clouds split in half.
The ground crumbed under his feet.
Half the village was vaporized off the face of the planet.
It didn’t matter where the sniper was hiding, they were deleted from existence.
Before me stood someone who had reached the peak of A rank.
It probably wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say his full berserk is borderline S rank…
We were extremely lucky.
The snipers were shooting from the opposite side, so Brigg’s abyssal slash was aimed away from me and the rest of the soldiers.
If he had aimed just slightly more right, he would’ve wiped us all out.
I reached slowly reached into my pocket trying not to draw attention to myself and grabbed two spice pills.
There was zero hesitation as I tossed it into my mouth, consuming both the pills at once.
An explosion of heat and pain spread throughout my mouth, but I had already experienced it before, so I was prepared.
My dragon essence surged in response to the spice pills.
With this new temporary power up from the spice pills, I turned around, bent down low, gathering all my energy into my legs… and stealthily bolted the fuck out of there.
A tactical retreat, one might call it.
Did you think I was going to fight Briggs? No, of course not.

Why would I?
Although he was a bit dangerous, it would still be beneficial for us if he went on a rampage since his target was the Kenava, and we would be the one at a disadvantage if he were to be stopped.
And even if I did fight him, I’m not confident in being able to stop him… he’s on a completely different level from when I fought him last time.
But it's not just his physical abilities that make Briggs so dangerous.
It’s his anger and endless rage that drives him to move.
I had once compared The Grinch to Briggs before, but that was a bad comparison.
The Grinch fought because of its instincts and nature. Nothing more, nothing less. The fact that The Grinch ran away from me during our fight is proof of that.
Briggs on the other hand, fights because of his rage. His fury and anger fuel him. He won’t stop until he destroys his target, even at the cost of his life.
Honestly, Briggs is… much more terrifying than The Grinch.
I consider myself a friend of Briggs, he’s always been kind to me ever since we met… but he scares me sometimes. There’s definitely something going on that I don’t know about. Something ominous.
I don’t know how I never thought of this before, but Briggs literally uses curse miasma. I had just assumed that the curse miasma was just Brigg’s quirky unique ability.
That is definitely not the case, it isn’t normal or natural for people to have curse miasma, especially of that quantity.
Something must’ve happened to transform his chakra energy into curse miasma.
I hope someday I’ll become someone capable enough to stand by Brigg’s side and help him control his full berserk form, but as of right now, I am not that person.
Since Brigg’s attack earlier basically destroyed the entire building we were in, I was leave the area pretty easily.
I could see Cornelia, William and the other A rankers in the distance carrying a few unconscious soldiers to safety.
It seemed I escaped just in time as the sound of several explosions and screaming filled the air from behind me.
That meant full berserk Briggs was beginning his rampage.
I looked back, and saw that King Allen, Mona, Queen Lily, and a few other A ranker from Kenava who had been in the negotiation building were being relentlessly attacked by Briggs.
King Allen raised his arms, summoning a giant fire phoenix.
It flew into the air scorching fire at Briggs but was futile as it was literally torn apart with a wave of curse miasma.
Queen Lily was also summoning some ice golems to defend herself, but they too were smashed apart within seconds.
Mona was the only one not doing anything, she stood there frozen, staring at Briggs while slightly trembling. She was probably having some traumatic flashbacks or something.
At that rate, they won’t even be able to escape before Briggs kills them all.
Shit.
I couldn’t just leave them, so I quickly stopped and created web essence in the palm of my hand.
I swirled the web essence in the air as if I was lassoing a rope, and then in one sharp flick of the wrist, I tossed my web essence.
My web essence flew forward, wrapping around both the king and Mona, which I then yanked it back towards me, pulling them away from Briggs.
They were both startled but quickly realized it was just me helping them escape and started running alongside me.
By now, most of our soldiers were woken up by the A rankers and were evacuating.
King Allen got onto his horse and led our soldiers to safety.
Once we had travelled quite a distance away from the village, I heard a loud roar echo from the sky.
Looking up, I saw three familiar looking silhouettes flying through the sky.
Wyverns.
The Kenava had released wyverns to deal with Briggs.
One of the wyverns turned its head to stare at me. I could tell that it wanted to chase after me because of my dragon essence, but it turned away since it knew that there was a much bigger threat; Briggs.
The wyverns all descended from the sky to attack the rampaging man in the village.
But before they could even get close, a beam of black energy shot straight into the sky, eviscerating one of the wyvern’s head causing its lifeless body to fall.
Brigg’s will probably be fine….
We focused on getting as far away as possible, leaving Briggs, the wyverns and the Kenava group to fade into the distance behind us.
There was no turning back now.
With the result of this meeting, war has already started.

Decompose!
Dear diary. When you read stories about some people missing and returning after years of absence claiming they were living in another world, your first reaction is to scoff and dismiss a story as a tall tale, right? I know I did. All the time. Until it happened to me and I no longer did. That day was today. Some god of thunder smote me. If it were Chris Hemsworth, I wouldn't mind but it was some barbaric Hitite god that abaondned Earth some four millennia ago. Yes, what can I say? I love the seventh art. I have more hours watching movies than any other activity, including sleep. What? Do you think I'm exaggerating? Maybe I am. I'll really miss hollywood the most. And my biggest regret is that I never got to visit the holy city of cinema. I did not come to another world to be a hero even though there was hints that they hoped I'd save it. I did not come with overpowered abilities able to, dunno, leap tall castles in a single bound, faster than a speeding crossbow bolt, be more powerful than a eight-horse carriage, the bounds. No. After the asshole god that murdered me brought me to his world, he gave me some boons from his discount bin and "The Power of my Soul (tm)". Forgive my french, I hope you understand I am rather upset at dying. And he somehow decided that my power is to recycle stuff. How awesome is that? Not much at first, I must admit. At least I got all my camping stuff and equipment with me. There's no lycra in the other world. I'll make it someday, but that day is not today. So here I am. In another world, in the middle of nowhere. I'm no heroine. As the song goes, I'm your basic average girl. And I'm assumed to be here to save the world. But almost everything can stop me, because I'm not named Kim. Wish me luck, diary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This novel is going have the following features: slow-paced slice-of-life No GameLit / LitRPG elements. Movie references. Sandra likes the seventh art. Journal / diary style crafting (includes chemistry, engineering and metallurgy) low magic technological advancement (for Sandra, at least. She is not against sharing though) personal relations clash of perception between the modern and ancient customs. bits of tension, fighting, and plot here and there. I won't repeat myself though. Once she crafts a good batch of soap, for example, she'll just note, "I crafted soap again." Once it is estabilished how she obtains compound X, compound X2 that is obtainable from the same process will also just be mentioned. I'll try to be as realistic as I can with the crafting, chemistry, and technology. Cover: Public Domain Image by StockSnap from Pixabay. No attribution required but we do it anyway.

Once the five minutes are up, the wilderness reappears, but it is always different from any previous' day wilderness. This means each day the city of Dal is surrounded by something new and exciting. Sometimes, the city of Dal finds itself on top of a snowy mountain, the next day in a foggy swamp, the next day after that on a tropical island, and so on. Inhabitants of Dal that go out into the wilderness are called adventurers. The further adventurers get from city of Dal, the rarer the loot they will find, but also the more treacherous their travels will become.
