《The Legend of the North》chapter 62

They were birds with completely green plumage, they were the same height as Ezer and had a slender body with agile legs. Its head was small with an elongated beak, its entire body seemed to be designed for speed.
Confused by the sudden change, the birds watch their prey before any attack. Lyaria takes advantage of this and her eyes shine mysteriously causing one of the birds to start rolling on the ground in an illusionary panic. However, the herbs return to their original position before she manages to reflect an illusion onto the remaining bird's eyes.
“How long will it last?”
“A few seconds, always varies depending on what the target is.”
"Can you take care of yourself for a moment?"
“Don't worry.” She says it confidently, but Ezer detects the weariness on her face.
He trusts her and enters the grass that was the same height as him, he goes to the place where the grass does not stop moving with his sword drawn. His instincts tell him to stop midway when seconds later an elongated spike collides with his sword, the blow is instantaneous and the beast is gone as fast as it came. Clearly his tactic was hit and run.
Ezer determines that he has a window of time and takes advantage of it, running towards his original target and encountering a bird that is slowly regaining its body functions and its eyes beginning to regain lucidity. Before the bird could even realize that it was no longer trapped in an illusion, it loses its life when its neck is severed in a single slash.
Immediately Ezer retraces his steps concerned for the safety of Lyaria who, to his relief, was fine despite her slight paleness.
"It didn't try to attack you?" He asks, his voice shaken from having run in a hurry.

"No, maybe he doesn't consider me a threat." After all, her wound did indeed hold her back.
“They're not very strong, the only problem is their speed.”
"There it comes again, it's the last one." She warns him as he steps forward to avoid involving her.
Ezer defends himself with his sword, managing to reflect the impact thanks to his instincts and skill, but as a result his arm goes numb and his weapon falls to the ground. The beast quickly slows down and attacks again at the cost of its speed, perhaps thinking its prey was helpless without a weapon, though this only doomed it when Ezer draws a black dagger and rams it into the beast's side as dodges it now that the beast didn't have a speed equal to that of the other times.
The bird staggers to the ground after a few steps, beginning to produce atrocious squawks that echoed throughout the surrounding area. Ezer silences it by quickly killing it and stopping those sounds that filled his ears.
“Finally!” Ezer sits on the ground exhausted.
“I think it's the first time we haven't run for our lives.” She smiles.
“Yes... since we entered these places... it's the first time. I hope we don't need to keep fighting, I'm already too tired.” They both were and he knew it, their minds and bodies were on the brink of collapse.
“It's not long now, surely… Ezer!” She yells expressing her concern.
“How many?!” He stands up despite his weariness and picks up the sword on the ground.
“Too many.” Lyaria is the only one who knows the true danger they are in, though Ezer would soon recognize it.
The grass was moving around him again as if pushed by a strong wind, but Ezer knew it was the beasts since the movements were not in the same direction. They were quickly surrounded and knew that they were in a very difficult situation.

Ezer wanted to create a distraction by making the birds focus on him so Lyaria could escape, but he didn't know how to do it and was sure that she wouldn't abandon him.
While Ezer paled from having no idea to turn the situation around, Lyaria on the other hand had a solution and the determination to employ it, despite the possible consequences.
She begins to quickly take off his clothes to Ezer's surprise, throwing them on the ground, before he could say anything to her, a bird pounce on Ezer. Lyaria runs out of time deciding to change her form in that instant, even though part of her clothes were torn in the process.
Ezer can't believe his eyes, the impact was such that he completely forgot the imminent death that was approaching him. The woman who accompanied him all this time, whose eyes and hair highlighted her stylized body, was now undergoing a transformation that changed her completely, although with this, she now highlighted her majesty even more forcing anyone to lower their head to look away.
The woman who until recently was a few meters from him, is now replaced by a wolf whose blue eyes and white fur stood out in the sea of green.
"All this time... you were Lia?"
