《The Forgotten Gods》Chapter 255

I walked out of the kitchen and took a quick look around. Godfrey was wiping the bar as I came out, and I caught his eye and pointed into the back. He nodded and called one of the servers to work the bar, and stepped into the back.
He walked in and folded his arms. “We are busy out there so I can’t be back here too long. What do you need?”
I smiled slightly. “Iris told you some things about me. I need to make sure that you don’t go telling others right now. It could turn out badly for me.”
He raised an eyebrow. “The crazy stuff about dungeons and you being a god?”
I laughed and nodded. “Yup, if people started thinking all that then people would be after me in a moment.”
He smiled. “Look I know that you are more than you appear. As much as you try to hide it you did a lot here for my daughter. I won’t tell anyone, or I’ll tell everyone it’s up to you. I thought when I gave you my sword I was keeping my daughter alive but losing her. Now I get to keep her too. I owe you more than I can repay.”
“Thank you. The girls and I are going out for a bit we should be back in a couple of hours.”
With that, the four of us started our trip across town again. This time I was using my standard as a walking stick and had my medallion out where it could be seen. People kind of parted as we made our way down the street. Anytime a guard would approach, they would see the medallion, nod, and keep walking.
When we were about halfway there, Kasidy spoke up. “Before we leave town we need to get your hair taken care of. I know that the look gives you a bit of presence but we will get a better reaction if you don’t look so… untamed.”
I chucked. “I think the word you were looking for is wild but yes I agree. I need this taken care of this this beard removed. We can take care of it on our way back to the inn.”
Iris smiled at me as we were walking and said. “My lord if you would like I can cut your hair when we get back. I know how to.”
I thought for a few moments. “That would likely be best. I’m not sure I want someone I don’t know with a razor to my neck. I don’t know who all I made angry with me in the past day.”
As we kept moving, Kasidy and Iris were talking about things they saw. The new fabrics and items that had been in the merchant’s hall were now in the market. I smiled, thinking that the looting had gone well. That kind of explained why there were two guild guards in full armor at the front door last night.

Once the whole building had been claimed, I had many of the lower-value items marked to not be absorbed. The middle-grade items, however, were absorbed so that they could be turned to loot. My hope was that the dungeon would become an exporter for the city and provide wealth replacing the merchant guild.
We wove our way down to the back door of the merchant’s guild. The girls tried to go in, but they were blocked by a magical field. I touched it, and it opened to let us in. Fortunately, dungeons didn’t let people cheat and enter through the exit.
We walked over to the dungeon master’s quarters. The quarters had been built once the dungeon hit level 5. I pulled out a chair and sat down, and pointed to two of the others. Blink was already heading out the door to the safe room.
I looked over at Kasidy. “Okay now that we are here let’s talk. Kasidy, I’m not happy that you left that book sitting around. I trusted you with the information that I gave you but you left it out for anyone to read.”
She started to say something when I raised my hand to stop her. “Let me finish. I still trust you I just know that things like that book are dangerous for me. So before we leave I am going to fix that problem.”
Then I turned to Iris. “So here’s the thing I know there’s no way for me to talk you out of what you believe so I’m not going to try. I don’t know what you read or what you think you read. What I am going to do however, is see if I can have you help me out here. I was an orphan so I want to see these kids taken care. With Blink and me leaving I need someone here.”
Iris smiled, which made her look all the more beautiful. I understood why those thugs were out to get her. From what I had put together, they had captured people, and someone was making flesh golems. Then they kept the originals for whatever they were doing.
Iris said. “I will do whatever you want from me. I think that I can best serve you here though I selfishly would like to go with you.”
I shook my head and sighed. “Okay so I am going to see if the dungeon will let me give you some of my access. That will let me know what all I can have you do here.”
I pulled up the interface and started to look to see if there were access levels that I could give. I had learned a lot, but it seemed like while my brain kept most everything, there were some things that just kind of slipped through. I was willing to bet that if I could get my intelligence higher, I would remember more.

After about thirty minutes, I found what I was looking for. It made me sigh when I read the name. There wasn’t an assistant option or even a complete hierarchy that I could put in. Well, not at first.
It appeared that I could have three instructors that were listed as dungeon knights. The problem was they were just marked as neutral and given a master key to the gates. They didn’t have access to building and adjusting.
Then there was the craft master. There was only one of those I could grant which would help in the crafting hall. This might fit the bill as it would let the master into the crafting hall at times. However, they didn’t have keys to the rest of the dungeon, and the only thing they could do was request more raw material for the level of the dungeon.
No, the one that made me sigh was the title that I could offer Iris, which would give her access to just about everything. She would get access to everything except access to the core functions, such as seeding and moving. She also wouldn’t have access to transportation without approval from me.
Lady of the Dungeon. Nope, it didn’t have an option for a male assistant. Perhaps if the dungeon had been claimed by a woman, that would have been in there. However, this role seemed just want I needed for her to have.
Title: Lady of the Dungeon
The Lady of the Dungeon is an integral roll for all dungeons.
As the one to help guide and grow the dungeon while the Lord is away.
She focuses her heart and soul on making sure that the dungeon grows and prospers in the ways that the Lord directs. This title comes with a class change and the following skills starting at level 15.

Active Skills
Insubstantial: Become Insubstantial for 15 seconds on command or upon a stealth or hidden attack. Recharge 5 minutes.
Lady’s Grace: Active skill requiring 2 mana for every thirty minutes. All those who interact with you have a plus 15 reaction.
Calming Aura: Decrease hostility of all those within 100 feet by 3 levels. Lasts 5 minutes. Recharge 4 hours.
Lady’s Curiosity: Active skill requiring 2 mana for every thirty minutes. All those within 100 feet have a 25% decrease in successful uses needed for level gain.
This class was far from fair. What was worse was that I could just give it to her. Sure she would have to accept, but it would give her several skills at level 15. It also would give her some amazing spells and active skills. That being something that I didn’t even have kind of ticked me off.
I smiled and stood up. The chair I had been sitting on wasn’t the best. I needed to find some good craftsmen and get them to make me something much softer. Then I could take the template to all the dungeons I had so that I could have a good chair or, even better, a couch.
I said. “Okay Iris, it looks like I can give you access to much of what the dungeon can do. There are a few catches however.”
Iris turned and looked at me. “Whatever you think is best.”
I shook my head. “Nope, I need you to make the call once I tell you what all it entails. First, it would give you the title Lady of the Dungeon. I see that smile but just wait. It would require you to take the class Lady of the Dungeon which is ultra rare. I don’t know what will happen to your old class or skills.”
Kasidy piped up. “If you don’t have a free second class it will overwrite your primary. All your old active skills would disappear for that class and the new ones would replace it. Your level for that class would reset as well. The good thing is you keep your stats that you earned through the level up.”
Iris thought for just a moment. “I’ll do it.”
I sighed; this girl was just too focused. I needed to know what all was in that book because Iris went from a girl that was desperate to get out of town to one that wanted to make me happy. She somehow thought that I was a god, which was crazy. Even if I knew that the gods were just people that got powerful, I was about as far away from one as I could get.
I asked. “Don’t you want to look over everything about it first?”
Iris shook her head. “I never took a second class. I’m still just a inn owner’s daughter, I never even took tavern wench or barmaid. I could have but I didn’t know what I would need to run the place long term. So I kept it open so that I could become an inn owner and then pick up a second class.”
I grinned. “Okay here it goes.”
