《Chosen (Lloyd X Reader)》Child's Play
Advertisement
A bunch of kids play soccer below the Bounty as Lloyd and I watch them play while the ship slowly flies past the village below. The kid in the blue shirt has made the most points while the kid in the red shirt kid is a bit cockier. The kid in the green sweatshirt is simply trying to get the ball into any goal to get a point.
Lloyd watches the kids play with so much awe, wanting to join in so badly. I look over at him, giving him a soft smile. "We can play that game up here you know."
His eyes light up upon hearing that and turns to me with so much hope. "Really?!"
I nod but Kai interrupts us, trying to get Lloyd's attention. "Lloyd? Lloyd! Concentrate!"
The blonde simply turns to him with a saddened expression, and I turn around to look back at Kai, knowing he wants him to train twenty-four-seven. I sigh because they haven't let him be a kid in a while which is fair to him.
"Now that the Bounty is in our possession again, we can train you more effectively. But you'll have to focus. One more time," Zane says to him.
Lloyd simply groans in frustration, shaking his head. "Oh, but we've been training all day!"
"He's got a point though. You guys have been training him all day and I even gave you guys a break when you needed it. Maybe you should let him get one? After all, you all do say I need to live out my childhood or whatever so maybe let him live out his too?"
Jay hesitates for a moment before sighing, agreeing with us. "Maybe it is best we give him a rest. Y/n has a point."
Cole simply shakes his head, knowing he doesn't want to do it either but has to. "It's all to get you ready to face your father. Now, in position."
I pat Lloyd's back, signaling him he'll get a break when it's my training session. I may be tough but even I know when someone needs a break. He simply sighs and walks over to the middle of the deck, getting into position. He yawns in annoyance. "Whatever."
Kai charges at Lloyd first, getting ready to punch him but Lloyd becomes too fast for him and he punches Kai back, across the deck. Zane and Jay soon follow and jump up into the air, ready to attack. But that's when Lloyd uses Spinjitzu on them and knocks them both down. Though he isn't ready for Cole's surprise attack from behind and gets thrown down onto the ground. Lloyd lands facedown and the boys quickly take off their hoods in concern. I look over at him but he flips over with a smile on his face. "That was fun. Are we done?"
Jay simply sighs. "Oh, come on. You're better than this. What's on your mind?"
I walk over to Lloyd and help him up as he looks over at the blue ninja. "Well...The latest issue of Starfarer just came in at Doomsday Comix and it's a limited run, so if I don't go out and get it, it's going to sell out. Last they left off, intergalactic rogue, Fritz Donnegan, was surrounded by the Imperial Sludge, and if I don't find out if he gets out alright, I think I might have my own doomsday!"
"The fate of Ninjago rests on your shoulders. As the Green Ninja, you have a giant responsibility to hold. I'm sorry, but you don't have time for such childish things," Kai says to him.

Lloyd shakes his head disappointingly. "Other kids get to play and have fun. All I ever do is train!"
He walks over to the railing of the Bounty and leans against it, hearing the children's laughter from afar, and sighs, knowing he can't have that.
I look at my old siblings. "Guys you need to really give him a break. He has so many years until the final battle. After all, he isn't destined for it until he comes of age and is currently not there. Let Lloyd enjoy himself with the time he got left as a kid. Besides, it could even benefit me because I haven't felt this alive really. Let's just enjoy this."
Unfortunately, before we get to talk more, Nya comes up from below deck with a worried look. "Guys, there's been a break-in at the and the security cameras picked up you-know-who!"
Our eyes widen upon hearing that as Cole exclaims, "Garmadon!"
"We have to stop him before he uses the to start another one of the diabolical plots!" Jay shouts out.
"Right! We can't let him get away with whatever he's planning. This might be the chance to stop him!"
Lloyd perks up upon hearing that and runs over to us, hoping he could join us on this mission. "Can I come?!"
I simply give him a small smile before patting his back, signaling he already knows the answer.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can't go and it's safer if I stay here and train."
"Sorry Lloyd, but I promise when we come back, we can play that game of soccer heh."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
~
Later that night, all five of us are at the Museum we sneak down inside through an open window. We swiftly move through the shadows, careful not to be seen by anyone. Eventually, we make it into the room where Garmadon, the Snake Generals, and fellow Serpentine are at. We each hide behind a pillar, looking into the room to see what Garmadon is planning and my eyes widen seeing the skeleton of a large monster.
Wait... Why does that skeleton seem familiar?...
Garmadon's voice catches our attention as he speaks to the snakes. "Behold, Dromaeosaurid Theropod Grundalicus, otherwise known as the Grundal. Although now extinct, in its time it was the most feared and dangerous creature in all of Ninjago, with claws that could slice through steel, and heightened senses that could detect its prey from miles away. It could track the stealthiest of ninjas, and once it had picked up your scent, there was no hiding from it."
"The Grundal? I heard about them. Boy, am I glad we live in an age where we don't have to deal with those things?" Jay says through the comm.
"I definitely feel like I knew it then back when I was still uh... yeah. I wonder what he's going to do now? I have a bad feeling..."
Skales rolls his eyes at him. "Thanks for the history lesson, but what are we gonna do with a pile of bones?"
"I am going to make it so the beast shall walk again," Garmadon shoots back.
"Yeah, right. Well, show us, then."
Garmadon smirks as he raises his Megaweapon towards the skeleton and a mist begins to form around it. "Rise, Grundal, and feel the strength of the Mega Weapon! I wish to create the power to make you young. Turn back the clock so that you are no longer extinct..." The skeleton begins to growl and shake violently as it begins to form slowly. "...But hungry, hungry for the ninja!"

All of our eyes widen upon seeing what he's doing. Jay panics and speaks through the comms. "Oh, no! He's bringing it back?!"
Zane shakes his head and looks at everyone. "Not if we have any say in the matter! Let's go!"
The four older ninjas jump out of their hiding spot and onto the skeleton with their weapons ready to attack. I jump down from my hiding spot onto the floor and take out my fans as I point them toward the Serpentine and their leaders. "Long time no see Garmadad!"
Garmadon's eyes widen seeing us as he glares at us. "The Ninja! Stop them- wait did you say Garmadad?"
"Sorry can't hear you!" I shout out while I run toward the snakes and swing my fans at them as the boys do their own thing.
I hit multiple snakes away with my fans, each one barely touching me. I barely break a sweat as I kick one in the stomach and throw them toward the generals. "Did ya miss me snakes? Or do you want the same treatment as Pythor?"
Unfortunately for me, my big talk gets the Generals' attention and they come racing toward me to attack. I take a moment before running towards them as I strike them each. One in the stomach, one in the neck, and the other in the eyes. I throw both of my fans at the two-headed general, hitting them on both heads as my fans bounce back and I smile. "Ha! Looks like I win!"
They hold themselves in pain but what I don't realize is that one of the snake minions comes up from behind me and smack me with their weapon on the head. "Ow! Hey! Cheap shot!"
That gives the Generals enough time to regain their stability and ready their staffs as Skales smirks. "Let's show this brat we can truly do."
My eyes widen upon hearing that as I slowly back away from them. Tsk... Kai is rubbing off on me. I won't be able to beat them all... Thanks, Kai!
Before I know it, I'm backed up into a corner as I breathe heavily, trying to keep up with their attack. I'm backed, unfortunately, into the open Golden Sarcophagus, knowing there's nowhere else to run. "Don't make me hurt you all! I am not afraid. of biting!"
Skales smirks as he points his staff at my neck, "I think you're the one who lost this time."
He then slams the lid shut, trapping me inside. "I'm gonna bite off all of your tails you snakes!" I shout out in anger.
The boys hear my screams as their attention turns to me. "Y/n got trapped! We need- Gah!" Jay gets interrupted as a weapon knocks him off of the Grundal's skeleton. Soon enough though, Cole and Zane are knocked off as well as Kai is the only one left on top of it, trying to figure out a plan to stop Garmadon. "I feel pretty alone up here!"
Garmadon simply continues, trying to return the Grundal from the dead as Kai tries to keep up his balance. That's when an idea pops up as he throws his sword just as he's thrown off of the skeleton and hits Garmadon's Mega Weapon, causing him to stop the magic. His weapon flies out of his hands and across the room as Garmadon's eyes widen in horror "Not again. Not again!"
Skales quickly slithers over to Garmadon, shaking his head. "And you said it wouldn't fail!"
Garmadon groans in anger before deciding to leave. "Retreat!" He runs over to his weapon before running away along with the Serpentine.
Jay smiles brightly, seeing them all leave. "We stopped them!"
Kai smiles but it soon fades realizing that the Generals are trying to steal the Golden Sarcophagus. "Hey! They're trying to steal the golden sarcophagus! And with Y/n inside!"
The Generals quickly run away with the Sarcophagus through the backdoor as the ninjas' eyes widen.
Cole shouts out in anger. "Come back with Y/n!"
"After them!" Kai shouts out as the four chases after them.
~
The ninja quickly makes it to the sarcophagus right after the Generals managed to get away. Jay groans in annoyance."I can't believe we couldn't catch up to them. I'm usually faster than that. It's as if my legs were half the size!"
Kai shakes his head. "Well, Y/n is still inside it so let's get her out!" He jumps up and kicks away the lid of the box thing. "This thing definitely got bigger because I had to jump higher to kick it away. Weird..."
I quickly sit up as I gasp for air. "I'm alive! That Sarcophagus barely gave me any room to breathe!"
I go to thank them but my eyes simply widen. "Oh my Spinjizu! You're kids!" I fall out of the coffin and onto the ground in shock.
"Huh?" Cole asks confused. He walks over to the glass window with everyone else as they take off their hoods and their hoods widen in horror as they gasp seeing their reflection.
Jay shouts out in horror. "We've shrunk!"
"We're...we're kids!" Kai screams and all of us start screaming.
I quickly run over to them and I freak out even more. "Oh my Spinjitzu! This is real! What do I do?! Why are you kids?! This is so weird!"
Jay pulls on his hair in frustration. "Oh, oh, oh, this is bad! This is so bad on so many levels!"
That's when my attention is finally pulled to their voices. "Your voices are high pitched too! What is happening?!"
Cole looks over at Zane, shaking him in sheer panic. "Oh, it's impossible! We must be dreaming, Zane! Tell me we're dreaming!"
"We can't be dreaming because the falcon isn't here! Perhaps Garmadon succeeded in turning back the clock, but instead of reviving the Grundal, it only affected us!"
Jay looks at him concerned. "Yeah, but Nindroids don't turn into kids! Explain that, genius!"
"I've extended my logic parameters, but nothing is coming up! This does not compute!" Zane's right eye starts twitching as electricity starts coming out.
"You guys are kids! None of this is making sense! How is this possible?! How powerful is that Mega Weapon?! If I had joined you all... I would've been turned into a literal baby! What are we supposed to do?! You all are literally my age now!"
Cole tries to stay calm. "Okay, fine. I get it. We're all in this together!" He walks over to the sarcophagus, sees his reflection in it, and starts freaking out again. "Oh, but I can't be a kid again, I hated being a kid. You can't drive, and nobody listens to you. Oh no, bedtimes!"
"I think that's more of a Lloyd thing than you all thing really..."
Jay suddenly perks up. "I told Nya we'd meet back at the Bounty! I'm sure Sensei will know what to do!"
That's when our bad luck turns worse, unfortunately. Sirens of cop cars can be heard and quickly head toward us as they stop in front of us and get out of the car. I look at them carefully, not knowing what's going to happen. After all, this is just a weird situation.
One of the officers looks at us. "Well, well, what do we got here? Looks like we've caught our culprits in the museum heist. Who would have thought it was just a bunch of brats? What have you got on, Apple Dumpling Gang? Pajamas?"
His partner and he laugh while Jay gets offended by them. "These aren't pajamas! We're ninjas."
The other officer rolls his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, and I'm Santa Claus."
"Excuse me?! We're the real ninjas!" I say to them taking off my hood. "I understand if you don't recognize these four guys as the real ninjas, but I'm right here! You know, the only actual kid on the ninja team! Me! Y/n! Hello?!"
The officer with the hat looks down at me. "Well, she does look like the real deal. Maybe these dumb boys caught her on a mission and distracted her from it with this Sarcophagus."
"What?!"
Kai simply can't take the laughing anymore and decides to try to do Spinjitzu. "Ninja Go!" He manages to hold it for a few seconds but it becomes unbalanced like when Lloyd first started learning how to do Spinjitzu. He then knocks Cole, Jay, and Zane onto the hood of the police car and Kai falls to the ground, screaming in frustration. "My Spinjitzu doesn't work! We're too small!"
The brown-haired officer as he grabs Cole and Kai. "Easy Kiddos. You all are coming with us to the precinct. We gonna contact Sensei Wu to tell him about Y/n being here and needs to be picked up."
"Picked up!? I may be a child but I literally saved all of your butts before!"
Kai chuckles, trying to relax. "Look, officers, this has been a grave misunderstanding. My friends here and I are simply trying to help out."
The brown-haired officer rolls his eyes and throws the ninjas into the back of the car. "Hey, you can tell all the stories you want when we return to the museum tomorrow to explain why you stole this."
The officer with the hat grabs my arm, pulling me into the front of the car. "Don't worry, we're gonna get you, home kid."
I mumble under my breath so many curse words and the once older boys just look at me in concern, wondering where I learned them all.
~
I watch the boys drop to their knees as they bow their heads to the Museum Curator, apologizing to them. Though, Zane doesn't do anything and looks at them confused. "But we didn't steal anything. I don't understand."
Kai quickly shushes him. "The quicker we get out of here, the faster we can figure out how to return our bodies to normal."
I whisper to Zane, agreeing with Kai. "Just please do it. I wanna get home."
Zane's eyes widen in realization as he kneels and bows to him. "I'm sorry for stealing, too."
The Curator smiles, accepting the apology. "Thank you, little boys, for returning the sarcophagus. You did the right thing. But, what about the bones?"
The boys and I look at each other in confusion before Jay speaks up. "What bones? We didn't steal any bones."
The Curator points towards the empty exhibit. The same one where the Gtrundal's skeleton once stood. "The Grundal bones. Anyway, Y/n, I'm sorry for them bringing you into this. Do not worry, we're gonna get the ninjas here soon to pick you up."
The boys stand up as Cole looks at us in growing concern now. "The Grundal bones? They're gone! You don't think-"
"It just walked out of here?" Kai finishes his sentence with fear in his voice.
Zane speaks up with worry in his voice. "Theoretically, it is possible that if Garmadon successfully reversed the years on us, he reversed the years on the Grundal and brought it back to life."
We all gasp upon hearing that as Jay quickly runs up to the Officers and the Curator with pure panic. "You guys have to believe us. The Grundal's been brought back to life and it's on the loose. Its sole existence is to hunt ninjas and as long as we're here, everyone's at risk!"
They all laugh as I simply glare at them. "Come on, take them seriously! What they are saying is true! We're in danger! We're gonna die if we don't do something!"
The Brown-Haired Officer simply picks up the boys and throws them onto a nearby bench as he pats my head. "Well, we'll keep a good lookout for anything that goes bump in the night, okay? Now, you four sit still until we call your parents to come to pick you up. And Y/n, keep close to the ninjas. They should be here soon."
The adults soon leave and I pull on my hair in frustration. "Ugh! I hate this! They don't take me seriously ever! Damn it! Tsk... I should've realized this sooner whenever I talked to authorities that aren't Sensei Wu... no wonder they wanted to talk with you all. Hmpf."
Cole sighs in frustration. "We've gotta get out of here, right now."
That's when a bunch of kids walk by being led by a tour guide and Jay looks at them as an idea pops into his head. He looks over at Kai as the red ninja gives him a knowing smirk. "Follow my lead guys," Kai says.
I look at him and then look at the kids. Well, at least it'll get us out of here quickly.
I follow the boys as we quickly head over to the groups of kids ad they grab some extra clothes off of the students. Luckily for me, I keep some regular clothes inside of my gi for emergencies and change into them and so do my brothers. Once they change into the clothing, I nod at them as we quickly run towards the Museum exit doors.
"Uh Y/n, are you sure we should run out like nothing? What if someone tries to chase us?!" Zane asks panicked.
"Look, you guys had a good plan to disguise ourselves as actual children but we are getting out of here! I can't take you all being my age... It's my nightmare."
Eventually, we make it to a nearby park and take a moment to breathe by the benches. That's when everyone finally notices the clothes they are wearing as Jay is wearing a very girly shirt and he groans in annoyance. "Oh, this is so humiliating."
Zane shakes his head, deciding to focus on more important things. "I'm afraid if we can't use our Spinjitzu, we'll be no match for the Grundal. Y/n won't be able to handle it alone. Even if Y/n can do Spinjitzu, her unstable powers won't help her at all."
"Zane has a point... I won't be able to do it by myself. We need help."
Kai sighs, knowing that we must go back to the ship. "Then we have to get back to the Bounty."
"How are we even going to get home though? We can't exactly take a bus to the flying ship!" Cole exclaims.

A Titan's Crusade
Erik Thayne spent most of his life being brutally ridiculed and tormented for his weight and physical appearance, among other things. A social pariah and diagnosed with an eating disorder no one has an explanation or treatment for, Erik spent years trying to overcome his issues with his personal image and escape the ridicule and vicious torment of his peers. After years of dedicated effort, and a fresh start in a town away from his childhood and adolescent tormentors, he had finally begun to truly realize what he'd been striving for all along. Only, fate apparently has other plans because in the blink of an eye, Erik found himself snatched from Earth and taken to another universe, another world, where he is offered the chance to be more than he'd ever imagined. Now, he has to fight to restore the Balance between Chaos and Order on a world of swords and magic, in a universe governed by the System's laws, which resemble those of RPGs from Earth. Erik learned to embrace the things about himself that others taught him to hate, using them to reforge his physical identity into something more removed from his old self-loathing. But can he learn to embrace the darkest parts of his mind just as he did the reviled aspects of his body and become who he needs to be to succeed in the task set before him? It might just prove easier to stalk in the dark as a monster than to walk in the light as a man... *This is my first time publishing anything I've written to a public audience. Due to formatting issues, I forwent traditional stat-screens for something a little less problematic, delineating stat screens by separating them from regular text with horizontal lines in a lighter-grey coloration. Let me know if you like them or not. Criticism is entirely welcome, but please don't hate on my work after only reading 1 chapter. This is a writing project I intend to complete but I have committment problems so we'll see how long this goes on. Also, fair warning, as the description implies, the main protagonist is intended to be someone who has been treated cruelly, developed antisocial tendencies, and ultimately has to question his own humanity--or lack thereof. This story is not intended to be brutally dark but I will definitely be trying to follow a darker theme. It is intended to be violent and some scenes later in the story might be...alarming. There will likely also be some light, non-graphic (think more implied with crude jokes and conversation than actual details, there will be no full-blown sex scenes)relationship scenes planned later and if you're opposed to either a bisexual or gay main character, stay away. I haven't yet decided which way he's going to swing but the odds on him being straight are relatively miniscule, and I've always wanted to write a story about a gay man who basically looks like a lumberjack because who doesn't like giving conventional stereo-types the middle finger? This will NOT be a harem story, and I have no intention to focus on romance over action--it's a consequence of character development where I'm concerned, not the be-all-end-all of the story. The cover-art does not, in any way, belong to me. It was an image titled the Druid King (by duskanmarkovic according to the file name) which I found on Google Images. Until I can get something commissioned, this is the best stand-in image I could find.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
