“Ah, the imperial guests, a banquet had been prepared for your arrival. Follow me.” A well dressed servant in toga came to Agave and the two and greeted them. As much as Matea and Pryne felt suspicious of that man, Agave was too excited when she heard the word banquet. She followed the man through the long walkway. The man walked fast, Matea and Pryne had to followed Agave closely.
The man lead Agave into a room. Before the other two able to catch up, the door suddenly shut. The man kicked Matea out of the corridor compartment and shut the partition door. Isolating the three of them.
“The beautiful Teleios of Eretria, welcome to my palace.” The voice of the man turned higher in pitch, and his face and skin changed in form when he removed the covering toga. That was Sporus. Pryne was stunned, in panic, she tried to open the door to escape, but it was locked. She hit the door, screaming for help.
“What do you want from me? I don’t want to be the empress! I don’t want to take over your place! That day at Eretria, it wasn’t me who said that!” Pryne tried to reason with her. As she remembered that Arete had said something that angered the Empress on the day at Eretria.
“I always wonder, how did you gain your power of recovery? Why are all the animals… oh… and those men, why are they always attracted to you? Why?” Sporus asked as she grabbed Pryne by her hair, raising her head and stared right into her eyes.
“I don’t know!” Cried Pryne.
“Don’t try to fool me! Hekate!” Sporus pulled out a short knife that was tied to her thigh. She scratch her own left cheek with a grin, the blood oozed out a little before the cut healed by itself. The ability to heal wounds in instant time, just like Pryne’s ability. Sporus clearly knew how she gained that ability, she had offered a young maiden to the altar of Hekate guided by Echidna. And she assumed Pryne must had done the same ritual to obtained her power. But there were still things in Pryne that Sporus wanted.

“I really don’t know!” Pryne tried to struggle, rolling and kicking the Empress away, she escaped from her when her smooth hair slided away from the grip.
Pryne had no memory about how she gained her power. She only knew about on the day when the other heitairas were trying to kill her. And she only found out her ability to grow miraculous healing white flowers after she arrived Kataratos village. She was a normal girl when she was a child. Or not? She never had memory about having any wounds or bruises even when she was a child.

A Fractal Divide
Lesivar is a city in ascendancy. With recent innovations in magical crafting, the common people are experiencing a boom in comfort and wealth. The nobility, long used to being the stewards of knowledge and power, struggle to adapt to the new world in which they find themselves. A precarious balance has been maintained throughout, but forces stir beneath the surface threatening to send the city spiraling into chaos. This is my first attempt at writing anything longer than a short story, and I welcome any feedback or corrections. I'm posting this as I write, with each chapter going live upon completion. My current pace is about a chapter a day, which I expect to take my through the end of November. From there, I'm shooting for a chapter every two-three days until the book is completed, along with an editing pass of what is already up. I'm planning on three POV characters with unique insight into the story as it unfolds. Each chapter will contain only one POV. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
