In many ways, Jeon Jungkook feels stuck when it comes to his relationship with her. His mother used to tell him that it wasn't good for couples to date for "too long" before getting married and that the longest they should date should be three years maximum. He himself, always pictured himself to be married young too, yet it seemed fate had other plans. More specifically, his girlfriend, Park Chaeyoung. There they were, seven years into their relationship with no ring on their fingers.

He's brought it up in passing, at least once a month but she always told him that she wasn't ready to be a bride yet.

And as much as he loved her, he was starting to wonder whether there was something wrong, something that would stop her from committing to him after all these years.

It had a strain on their relationship, and it reflects too on his mood. His members have called him out on it, realising that he was back to being on a social media hiatus, and how he constantly seemed zoned out or stressed.

It didn't help that his girlfriend was busy with the concert, especially so with all the dramas attached to it.

Three months.

Not that he'd been counting but the distance started to feel especially real for him in December when the holidays didn't feel warm and welcoming at all. They had barely seen each other at all, with conflicting schedules, and even their phone calls were short.

He'd ask her if they could talk, but every time she'd reply with a sigh, "... I'm tired, another time."

Jeon Jungkook wonders whether she fell out of love.

This was the first birthday they'd spent away from each other, and Jeon Jungkook believes that he may lose her for good.

Until the notification pops up.

Jeon Jungkook is detail oriented. Every song, every lyric and every date.

He listens to it, the honeyed voice that he missed so much.

Till I found her?

He knows he's stupid, but he feels disappointed, wishing that she'd simply change it to him, to confirm to him that she was singing for him. In the midst of it all, he sees a text on his phone.

From her.

[Have you heard it?]

It felt almost awkward, like a text between strangers.

He thinks he should ignore it, but he thinks about the way she's probably waiting for him to reply.

[It's beautiful, as your voice always is.]

She responds.

[Thank you for the flowers, and the tickets. Let's discuss where we should go when we meet.]

He puts his phone down, wondering whether they'll even get a chance to see each other before their relationship falls apart.

Another text.

[Will you really ignore me on my birthday?]

He feels bad.

Things had been too cold between the two, that he simply doesn't know what to say without causing an argument.

[I'm sorry. Let's schedule time to Facetime.]

She replies.

[Have you checked the date the song was released?]

Jeon Jungkook feels his fingers shaking as he searches it on google, realising that it was his birthday.

It was for him?

Between the two, it was always him who cared.

He feels tears flowing down his face, realising that she wanted to try harder.

Suddenly, he gets another text.

[I hope you didn't fall asleep or something because actually, I'm outside your door. May I come in?]

Jeon Jungkook never ran as fast his entire life as to open the door for him, seeing her smiling at him.

"Are you surprised?" She smiles at him.

He doesn't respond but just kisses her like it was the last time they'd ever touch lips.

"Let's work things out, between us," she tells him.

He knows it won't be easy.

But Jeon Jungkook can't help but have the biggest smile on his face, knowing that they'll be okay.

Even as he goes to his boxing lesson, nothing can stop his good mood, even his fans seem to notice.

When they get back, he cooks them dinner and they sit down in front of the television holding hands.

"About the marriage thing..." she tells him.

He stops, "... it's okay, let's talk about it another day."

The day was too good to be ruined by another fight, he thinks.

"No, I want to talk about it now," she tells him, turning her body to face him, "... I find it hard to picture myself getting married, knowing about my past. Hell, even falling in love and being with you, I have anxiety about in the back of my head and I know you're a good guy, babe, but it's this irrational part of my mind that tells me I'll fuck it up."

"Babe..." he stops her.

"And I know you've waited, you've been kind and patient," she takes a deep breath, "... I'm sorry if I made it seem as though I didn't love you, I was just scared."

"Are you still scared?" He questions her.

She shakes her head, "... I was, but am not anymore. Because I found you."
