The path ahead,

How would you arrange it?

Walking along the gravel path,

Through the bushes,

There, up ahead,

Climb the step,

Beneath you, the doormat,

It reads, “Welcome Home”.

Or wait,

Scratch that,

It says, “Come in peace, Leave happy”,

The door, clean, white,

Open it, what greets you?

Sparsely placed, a hint of red,

The warm feel of gold wood,

Something soft, a sofa,

Its an open room,

There is something to rest your feet.

There are hallways,

Where do they lead?

There's a stairway,

Do you want to go up?

Covered by soft red wool,

A gateway leading to the kitchen,

Traverse the halls,

A path downward,

What’s there?

An exercise room,

A spare bedroom,

For friends…

And lovers…

Somewhere to clean,

These clothes, often filthy,

With the work of the day,

The pleasure of the night.

Upstairs?

The kids rooms.

Soft blue, light pink,

Covers those rooms,

The gentle sound,

Of lullabies, of dreams.
