《A New Beginning》VOLUME 8 : PROLOGUE

What I have been waiting for? What did I miss? What happened to me?
Glimmering spheres of light began to materialize in the most unfathomable depths of the place where none should exist.
In my hazy consciousness, I try to awaken my senses. But somehow they seemed to be tied to the consciousness of the place.
Where am I?
For how long have I been like this?
Is there something wrong with my memory?
I put in a little effort to free myself or at least move. But a complex magic illuminates the dome and a tremendous amount of magic like lightning rampages throughout the place. It runs through my body but I hardly feel any pain.
For how long did they think this human magic could restrain me?
But the shock did remind me…. It twists my face with an awful taste, even though I cannot feel my cheek muscles moving at all.
“Those despicable humans… no it was her that sealed me down here.”
All of them claimed to be heroes, but it was only she who truly saved that pathetic race.
I doubt things have changed now.
They only know how to live for their foolish fame and wealth and feed on the kindness of others. They so pitifully cling to their short mortal life and call us supreme beings. Hoping for salvation from us.
They are the race that can only take. And now they have hurt me as well.
For that I will never forgive them.
I can still hear them, both their cheers and screams as they killed and were slaughtered in the war. Even if it has been hundreds of years since the Great War.
Even if those faces have all perished and they would have long forgotten me….
The vessel of the seal starts resonating to contain the emerging power.

“I am still alive. It's only I that have survived. So this is yet to end.”
The earth starts rumbling in a way that seemed to proclaim the end of times. Fissures start erupting in the ethereal wall.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
A gap opens in the seal's vessel until the material is unable to contain the surge of energy that seems to be endless. The cracks grow deeper and several appear alongside it.
For a moment, it looked as though a black thread had sliced through the air. And finally, the vessel of the seal shatters like delicate glass.
From within a power manifested as a tar-like substance and in the midst of it a girl with a perfect blend of strength and delicacy unravels herself into the mortal world.
She had long, flowing hair of black magenta and wore a simple gown of coral red, that flowed around her body like the mist. Based on her outer appearance, she couldn’t be older than sixteen.
The girl continues to float in mid-air, she didn’t so much as move an inch. Her head slumped over, and her eyes were still tightly shut, curtaining her pupils.
The aura she gave was that similar to the advent of a great disaster. The embodiment of ruin itself.
Her eyes slowly open glowing with power revealing the color of the clearest emeralds. Her ominous-looking hair streaming behind her.
“Take heed humans, for you have invoked a goddess’s rage. Despair in the sound of your own wails, because from here on it will be a banquet of tragedy.”
From her delicate, youthful mouth, she issued a curse, the manifestation of a profound hatred she nurtured for centuries now.
Slowly descending on land, she carried herself with an otherworldly dignity and poise. Her movements were graceful and fluid as if she were dancing to a music that only she could hear.

Glancing over the darkness of the subterranean chamber she narrows down her eyes to a spot. The next second the earth shakes and rises to form a big throne chair out of rock. She walks to the throne and sits on it.
Out of nowhere huge basilisks with obsidian black skin start roaming the place. It has smooth, iridescent scales that glimmer in the light and needled eyes. Its body is long and slender, coiled like a spring ready to strike, and its fangs were sharp and poisonous. They were the deadly summons of the goddess girl.
“They say the war is over. But is it really now!”
.
“Huhhhh….” Taking hurried breaths my eyes snap open and I wake up.
“Was it all a dream?” I sat up in bed, still gasping for air. My night clothes clung to my skin, drenched in sweat.
The room was dark and still, with only the soft golden glow of dawn filtering in through the curtains.
I tried to calm my breathing, but my heart was pounding fast in my chest.
I rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the remnants of the dream.
I stopped having nightmares since I met mother and father in this world. But this one felt close to real. More like a vision.
I looked beside me and Regis and Hana were still fast asleep. Hana did not look affected by the vision either.
“Al, what did that dream meant?” I at least hoped Al would know something.
