《How I Became A Jarl》Hunt For A Moon pt. 1

While I was sleeping on a hard wooden floor I got an amazing dream. I won the lottery and bought the office I worked in. Somehow forced my previous boss to work as a janitor and watched him cleaning toilets, throwing out the trash, and especially sitting longer than usual in the office so he would wait for me because he is the one to close the door to the office.
There always needs to be something in the dream that wakes you up… This time it was a bite from a dog. When I woke up I felt something wet on my head. I don’t know what Skyge dreams about but my head is not something he would eat… All I needed to wake him up was to slowly rub his nose.
[ Eric ]
“Now that you’re awake… Do you mind taking your teeth out of my head?”
Skyge tried to say something but his teeth were still sunk in my head.
[ Eric ]
“First stop biting me then talk…”
[ Skyge ]
“Morning master! I had such a nice dream! There was food! Good food everywhere! And I took a bite of everything!”
[ Eric ]
“Yeah. I can imagine that…”
I was going to wake up Tae but when I looked at his bed he wasn’t there or anywhere in that room. Not only did he sleep in a bed but he took off without saying?!
[ Eric ]
“Do you know where is Tae?”
[ Skyge ]
“He left like a few minutes ago. He woke me up but I went to sleep a second after he closed the door.”
He probably left to eat something but he could wake me up at least… When I left the room I noticed that two women watched me leaving with weird looks on their faces… Don’t tell me… They probably saw Tae leaving a few seconds ago and now I’m leaving the room with one bed in the morning. Do they think we… slept together? No… But what if?!
[ Eric ]
“Nothing happened in there! I’m not interested in guys! There were just no other rooms left!”

I said in a panic but they left and whispered something to each other.
Nothing to worry! Sehus is a big city. It’s not like I’m going to see those ladies again. They’ll probably gonna forget about this since I’m just a person like everyone else… but I have never seen other ginger hair in this world…
I found Tae downstairs enjoying his meal without a care in the world. This place is very lively even so early in the morning. Tae wasn’t the only one eating here. There were like ten other people. I just sat in front of him with a serious face.
[ Eric ]
“We’ve got a problem…”
[ Tae ]
“What? Those moon guys know about us or something?”
[ Eric ]
“It’s something slightly below that… I think that two people in this inn got a wrong impression about us…”
[ Tae ]
“What kind of the wrong impression?”
[ Eric ]
“Two women saw us leaving the same room and I think they know that there is only one bed…”
[ Tae ]
“Can you finally get to the point? Waitress! Can I get a refill?”
[ Eric ]
“Well… That we made out last night or something?”
[ Tae ]
“WHAT?! Are you sure?”
[ Eric ]
“Judging by their faces… yes…”
As I was talking with Tae one of THOSE women approached us. Why would she do that?! Did I offend her somehow? I thought that this world is like medieval times or something! Is it really that bad in this world for that kind of relationship? I always was like whatever. Do what you want. Is this world that different?!
[ Waitress ]
“Here is your refill sir. Would you like to order something else?”
[ Tae ]
“Maybe some bread and meat for my friend.” Said Tae as he pointed his hand at me. I could see the realization of who am I in that woman’s eyes. Luckily she just left without a word.
[ Eric ]
“Tae… That was her… She saw me and she just now noticed that it was me…”

While we were eating we didn’t look into each other's eyes but it didn’t make anything better. I just ate with that weird feeling in my stomach. It happens too often… Luckily we didn’t have to wait long for Hati’s response. He just walked into the inn in his small form. For some reason, no one even looked at him. Like he wasn’t there.
[ Hati ]
“I found three servants of Mani and around twenty followers.”
[ Eric ]
“And one of those servants is my target… That’s a lot of them but it’s still better than I imagined it would be.”
I know that Hati is a proud giant but I could clearly him wiggling his tail whenever he saw meat in my hands. I hid one piece under the table and Hati went for it. Tae didn’t see that but Skyge definitely did because he bit my hand. To calm him down I gave him some too. Monsters and giants but they behave like kids…
[ Eric ]
“Shall we begin a hunt?”
We left the inn and were on the way to our first target. I wasn’t as stressed as Tae. It was visible on his face and his movement.
[ Hati ]
“We’ll begin with separated followers and then move toward bigger groups. Her servants are currently all in one place.”
[ Tae ]
“Where exactly are they?”
[ Hati ]
“In one of the towers of the church.”
[ Tae ]
“You mean the church of day and night?”
[ Hati ]
“Don’t know the name and it’s not like I’m interested in it… Here is the first follower. This so-called priest is Mani’s believer.”
In the middle of the street stood the priest of the Pure Sun delivering the speech to the citizens of Sehus. Many people listened and surrounded him so killing that priest won’t be easy but I have an idea.
[ Eric ]
“Skyge. Do you think you can take me on top of that roof?” I asked as I pointed at a building with a flat roof, perfect to hide.
[ Skyge ]
“Sure thing!” Skyge changed into his normal form, into a big wolf. I sat on him and Skyge ran on the wall of the back of the building to the roof so no one would see us.
Now I had a better view of that priest and I could clearly see his face. It was the same priest that traveled with us to the Sehus. Is he really the target? I saw him using the powers of the sun, not the moon. Could Hati make a mistake?
[ Eric ]
“Are you sure he is the target?”
[ Hati ]
“Definitely! The scent of the moon is all over him.”
Who am I to argue with a giant? I took out one of the hatchets I bought. Just one hit to the head will kill him but I can’t afford to miss and kill someone innocent. My heart was racing really fast but I didn’t take my eye away from that priest. When he looked in opposite direction I saw a chance and took it. I didn’t have time to confirm if I hit him I couldn’t afford anyone else to see me at the scene of the murder. I jumped off the roof and with Skyge’s help, I safely landed.
[ Eric ]
“Did I hit him?”
[ Tae ]
“Yes. Definitely killed him on the spot.” Said Tae as he looked from around the corner.
[ Eric ]
“Are you hundred percent sure he was Mani’s follower? If I’m not mistaken humans can only use the power of one god they believe in and I saw him using the powers of the sun. Not moon.”
[ Hati ]
“I wouldn’t even think of killing believers of sun… I'm not the one to hunt them.”
[ Eric ]
“Then how did he use the powers of a different god?”
[ Hati ]
“I don’t have the knowledge to answer you that.”
