Steven and Greg visits the BC Fries, as Steven slams his fists on the counter in slow motion to get his regular order. "Give me the... " He starts to say but gets interrupted by a bag of fry bits pushed in front of him. "Oh, thanks!"

"Eh, I saw you guys coming." Peedee admits.

"Are you closing up all by yourself?" Greg asks him.

"Yeah, it's just me tonight." Peedee replies.

"Wow, that's a lot of responsibility for a kid your age. Your dad must really trust you." Greg says impressed.

Peedee looks at him unamused. "Don't patronize me, sir."

"See you, Peedee!" Steven says as he and Greg leave Beach Citywalk Fries and walk towards the beach.

"So, like I was saying, Peridot's been shooting huge robots here from space. And when you smash them, they explode into goo!" Steven explains as he eats a handful of bits.

"That sounds scary. You know, I'm not sure if... Do you ever feel like this Gem stuff is too much for you?" Greg asks Steven.

"What are you..." Steven starts to ask when the area suddenly rumbles as a loud noise is heard, causing Steven to trip over and shattering the windows of local businesses and homes. Everyone then look up to the sky in shock.

"What the hey was that?" Greg asks in shock. "...Steven?""

Steven looks up at the sky too and see a giant green hand approaching from the atmosphere. "Is that... a hand?" Steven asks.

The Gems are gathered at the beach, observing the occurrence through a telescope.

"The Light Cannons should be ready." Pearl says to Garnet and Amethyst.

" Guys!" Steven cries as he runs in with Greg. "Did you see that thing in the sky?"

"Hey!" A voice cries out the group all turn to see Y/n. "I started rushing over as soon as all the windows smashed. Is it..."

"It's a ship. We have to assume it's Peridot." Pearl confirms.

"Lapis told us she'll be coming. With advanced weapons and reinforcements."

"It's really happening..." Y/n comments.

"I wanna see." Steven says as he looks into the telescope and sees the green hand pointing towards him. "Woah."

"Ready the light cannons!" Garnet instructs.

Pearl activates a lever and the Quartizine Trio appear from under the deck of the Beach House. Amethyst pushes the fourth Laser Light Cannon from Greg's storage unit into position on the porch.

"Steven, light them up." Garnet tells him.

"If every pork chop were perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs." Steven says into a walkie talkie.

The phrase is spoken through another walkie talkie strapped near the deck, activating all four Light Cannons. Four Rose-shaped beams are fired and twirl towards the hand ship. The ship opens itself into a palm and blocks the attack, and continues to descend in a pointing position.

Garnet was looking through the telescope. "No effect."

"What now?" Greg asks her.

"We'll have to take them head on. The whole town might be in danger." Garnet admits.

"Y/n!" A voice cries out as the group turn around surprised to see a face they don't recognise.

"Dad!?" Y/n calls shocking the others.

"What is going on!? I was getting ready to head out to work when all the windows in the neighboured shattered and I look up to see that in the sky!" His dad says as he points to the ship in the sky.

"You know I'm surprised it's taken you this long to notice all the strange things that happen in this town..." Y/n can only comment.

"I... better make a call. Time for some... political favors." Steven says as he takes out his phone and taps on Mayor Dewey's icon.

The phone in the mayor's office starts to ring, and Mayor Dewey quickly picks it up, while hiding behind a curtain. "Hello?" Mayor Dewey answers worriedly.

"Mayor Dewey! It's me, Steven Universe!"

"Universe, what's this thing in the sky? As a politician, pointing fingers make me very nervous." Mayor Dewey says as he covers the windows with the curtains.

"Mayor Dewey, the whole town's in danger. We have to evacuate the city." Steven tells him

"Evacuate? Hmm. Evacuate. Could be tough. I'll need a catchy slogan." Mayor Dewey says.

It was getting closer to night as Mayor Dewey proceeds to drive his van towards the boardwalk, with the siren chanting "E-VA-CU-ATE". A crowd of citizens are already there to watch the descending hand ship, when they see Mayor Dewey's van and gather around it.

Mayor Dewey climbs onto the roof of the van. "People! I need everyone to consider evacuation! Evacuation is something we all depend on in times of..."

Steven watches in worry from a distance as Mayor Dewey delivers his speech.

Y/n returns now but Steven notices Y/n's dad wasn't with him. "My dad heard the evacuation notice and went to go get his car." Y/n says as he can see Steven looking for his dad.

"So what are going to do now?" Steven ask but Y/n can see something taking place behind him and he knows what's happening and it makes him feel helpless.

Steven turns around himself and sees the Gems helping Greg to pack and load luggage into his van.

"Hey! That's a great idea, Dad. You should leave with the rest of the..." Steven then spots his cheeseburger backpack at the feet of the visibly worried Greg and Pearl. "Is that my luggage?"

"Uuhh..." Greg and Pearl stammer.

Greg looks at Pearl. "Who wants to tell him?"

Greg and Pearl look at each other awkwardly, before turning to Amethyst.

"Hey, I'm not good with this stuff!" Amethyst turns away defensively. Pearl pats Amethyst to comfort her.

"Steven, I know you don't think we trust you. I know more often than not we treat you like a human child. But the truth is, we rely on you." Garnet says as she hands Steven a megaphone. "Your voice inspires us, binds us, reminds us why we promised to protect the planet. You must now be that voice, for them."

Garnet points Steven towards the boardwalk, when the Beach City citizens are seen panicking and worrying in the chaos.

"Peedee, come on!" Mr Fryman says as he holds onto Peedee who was clinging to the shop counter.

"But are we coming back!?" Peedee asks him.

"Ronaldo, help me with your brother!" Mr Fryman shouts.

"If anything happens, you need to be there to protect them. Like your mother once did. It's your destiny." Garnet tells Steven.

"I won't disappoint you!" Steven tells the gems.

"I know." Garnet says.

Steven gets into Greg's van now.

"There's nothing I can do to help here, is there?" Y/n asks he looks down.

"We need you to be there to look after Steven." Garnet says to him.

Y/n looks up again now at Garnet. "I can't fight like you guys, I get it. I'm just a human but I'll stay with him to the very end." Y/n tells them.

"You'll need this." Pearl says as she summons Y/n's rapier from her gem and hands it to him.

"Pearl..." Y/n says as he looks at it.

"Don't let our lessons go to waste now." Pearl says to him.

"I won't." Y/n says as he looks at Steven in the back of Greg's van. "I'll look after Steven no matter what happens."

Garnet puts her hand on Y/n's shoulder now. "We know you will." She tells him and Y/n surprises the gems as he pulls them into a hug and they close their eyes hugging him back.

"You guys are the best thing that's ever happened to me." Y/n says as he holds back some tears now.

"Y/n, It's time we go." Y/n's dad says as he appears near the group now. "I still don't understand why we have to go, but you can explain on the way out." He says.

Y/n just nods as he lets go of the gems now. He and his dad climb into their car as Greg climbs into his van.

The two vehicles begin driving off, Now as Y/n and Steven start sadly waving goodbye to the Gems, who can only watch visibly distressed and devastated.

"We did everything we could." Garnet says to Pearl and Amethyst. "Alright, pull it together!" She then says as the three turn to look at the ship.

Steven and Greg were driving out of town, along with other citizens in their vehicles.

"Maybe when Peridot gets to Earth, she'll see how nice all the people are and she won't want to hurt anyone.

Greg forces a smile. "Just like your mother."

"Yeah?" Steven asks.

"Yeah. But these other Gems aren't like your mother." Greg says as he starts sweating. "They aren't like Garnet, Amethyst, or Pearl. They aren't gonna start caring about people now. They didn't the first time they... "*Greg quickly stops speaking.

"The first time they what?" Steven asks.

"I mean, it was thousands of years ago! It's...it's not like I was there!" Greg says and Steven glares at Greg in curiosity. "The Gems should be telling you all this stuff, but I get it. I mean, they don't want you thinking of them like that!"

"Like what?" Steven asks but Greg does not reply. "Dad, like what?" Steven pushes.

"Like aliens, Steven! Aliens who invaded Earth!" Greg says now.

"What!?" Steven cries.

"All they do is try to make up for it. They just can't forgive themselves, you understand? Look, they were doing something awful to the planet and your mother couldn't stand it anymore. She told me that's why she had to turn on her own kind. She gave up everything just to stop what they started here and drive the invading Gems off of Earth."

Steven recollects the times when Amethyst showed him and Y/n the Kindergarten and when Pearl told him a tale in the Gem Battlefield, while Greg was explaining.

"So s...she saved the world, that's good!" Steven says.

"No such thing as a good war, kiddo. Gems were destroyed, people too... In the end, your mother could only save a handful of her closest friends. If it weren't for her shield, man, I don't know." Greg says as he looks at Steven, who is overwhelmed by the facts. "B...but hey, let's look on the bright side! We're gonna drive past that waffle place in a couple miles!"

"We gotta go back! Turn the van around!" Steven says now.

"No way, the Gems don't want you going back!" Greg says to Steven.

"I know they're just trying to protect me, but I have to protect them! I have Mom's shield, they need me!" Steven cries.

"I need you too!" Greg says now.

"Please, Dad, what if they get hurt?" Steven asks. "Dad, turn around! Dad!"

Greg, sweating profusely, does not reply again.

"Turn the van around, PLEASE!!" Steven begs before he punches the panel in front of him, causing the airbag to inflate and launch him out of the van. He lands in a small ditch off the road safely a distance away, encased in his bubble shield. Greg halts the van on the road and runs out after Steven.

"Steven!" Greg calls out.

Steven starts to tear up. "Dad..."

"Yo, Greg, are you and your kid okay?" Mr Fryman calls out.

Several Beach City citizens begin to gather around to check on Steven's safety.

"Yeah, yeah! We're fine, we're fine." Greg calls back to the crowd before he turns back to Steven.

"Dad, please. I have to go back. I have to! They don't have my shield, do you understand?" Steven says to him desperately.

"Yeah, okay." Greg says knowing he can't stop Steven now. "Just... be careful, or I'm gonna run fresh out of family." He says as he wipes away Steven's tears.

"Stay with everyone and keep them safe." Steven tells his dad now.

"But what about you?" Greg asks him but they hear the sound of someone skidding down the ditch and he turns to see Y/n.

"You're not going back alone." Y/n says.

"Y/n!" Steven says getting up and rushing over to him.

"I gave the gems my word I would look after you and I will. We're in this together Steven." Y/n assures him and Steven nods now.

"I'll figure out some way to get us back to Beach City." Steven says when Lion suddenly appears behind Steven and places his paw on Steven's head. "Oh, this'll work!"

Y/n helps Steven climb onto Lion now.

"Y/n!" Y/n's dad calls out now and he looks down the ditch at Y/n who climbed onto Lion's back. "What the hell are you doing!? Where are you going!? Why are you on a Lion!?" His dad asks looking stressed out. "You've not explained anything you've just spouted a bunch of nonsense about rocks!"

"I'm sorry Dad but we don't have time to explain right now." Y/n says as he refuses to look up at his dad now. "Take us back to Beach City Lion." Y/n then says to Lion who roars and begins to run back towards the town with Y/n and Steven riding him.

"Y/n!" Steven and Y/n can hear Y/n's dad call out.

Y/n and Steven were riding Lion as they headed back to Beach City now.

"Is everything going to be okay with you're dad?" Steven asks a little worried.

"Well, If Peridot doesn't kill me...he probably will." Y/n tries to lightly joke but the mood remains a little tense. "Have you let Connie know what's going on?" Y/n asks Steven now.

"Oh!" Steven says as he takes out his his phone now and clicks on a few icons before he lifts the phone to his ear. "Come on, pick up..."

"You've reached the Maheswaran residence." An answer machine says and Steven moans in disappointment. "Please leave a message after the beep. And keep it short." A beeps sounds now.

"Hey, Connie, it's Steven. Just... seeing what you were up to. Don't know if you knew, but there's some crazy stuff going on with a giant space hand and we all might die, so, uh, I guess call me back when you get this and talk to you soon! Uh, bye!"

Once Steven hangs up, Lion roars open a portal and warps him and Y/n onto the beach in front of the Crystal Temple.

"It's Opal." Y/n says as he looks surprised to see Amethyst and Pearl had fused.

Opal is seen now aiming at the ship with her bow, while Garnet stands beside her.

"Fire!" Garnet instructs.

Opal fires a barrage of arrows at the ship, with no impact at all leaving Opal and Garnet dumbfounded.

Y/n and Steven dismount Lion now.

"Stay here! If something happens, Dad'll need a new son!" Steven says to Lion.

Opal and Garnet watch helplessly as the ship increases speed in its descent.

"At least Steven and Y/n are safe..." Garnet says gratefully.

"Hey, guys!" Steven says.

"Steven! Y/n!" Garnet cries in shock.

Upon seeing the two, Opal begins to split in surprise back into Pearl and Amethyst, throwing them back on the sand.

"You came back!?" Amethyst asks.

"What are you both doing?! Get out of here!" Pearl tells them.

"But..."

"It's too late! Just stay behind us!" Garnet tells Y/n and Steven as The Crystal Gems stance themselves in front of the two. The ship lands on the beach, creating dust clouds at the Crystal Gems.

Y/n and Steven shield their eyes from the sand as it settles down.

A bubble appears from the palm of the warship. It rolls onto a finger and opens up, revealing Peridot and a tall orange Gem stood draped in a cape.

"That's them, all right. They're the ones who keep breaking my machines." Peridot says as she looks down at the group on the beach.

"This is it?" The tall orange woman asks.

"Jasper! They keep interfering with my work!" Peridot says.

Jasper sighs and steps forward. "Looks like another waste of my time... "She comments before she turns to Lapis. "Hey, get over here!" Jasper drags Lapis out from behind her, who quickly breaks free from Jasper's grip and gasps at the sight of Y/n and Steven.

"Lapis..." Y/n says shocked to see her again.

"This is their base?" Jasper asks Lapis.

"Yes..." Lapis answer's reluctantly.

"You need to leave immediately!" Garnet calls out to the three now.

"Yeah, step off!" Amethyst joins in.

"This is not a Gem-controlled planet!" Pearl tells them.

Peridot and Jasper, dragging Lapis along, jump off the finger and onto the beach.

"And neither of you saw Rose Quartz? Oh, what a shame. I'd hoped to meet her. I was looking forward to beating her into the ground!"

"Euegh..." Steven says nervously as Y/n puts his arm protectively in front of Steven and tightens his grip on his rapier.

"But this is all that's left of her army? Some lost, defective Pearl, a puny overcooked runt, and this shameless display?" Jasper asks as she looks at the gems but she glances at Steven and Y/n now. "What are they?"

The three Crystal Gems bare their weapons in preparation.

"The short one calls itself 'the Steven'. The tall one then refers to itself as 'the Y/n.'" Peridot informs Jasper.

"They're just humans! They aren't a threat at all! They're not one of them!" Lapis pleads to Jasper desperately.

"I know what a human is." Jasper tells her as she turns around disappointed. "You don't need me for this. Just blast them with the ship." She tells Peridot.

"Ugh, fine." Peridot says as he loads up a screen now. The ship lifts up and points towards the Crystal Gems. Peridot draws a wide circle on her finger screen and taps at it. The ship begins charging energy on its fingertip.

"Y/n take Steven and get out of here!" Garnet shouts to Y/n now over the sound of the energy charging up.

"No!" Steven shouts.

"I won't let you risk your lives!" Garnet shouts back.

"But this is our home! And you're all my family!" Steven declares as his gem begins to shine.

"Firing." Peridot says.

"Here it comes!" Y/n cries as his hand starts to shake slightly looking up at the ship and it's beam fires now.

"I... I'm a Crystal Gem too!" Steven shouts as he jumps at the beam, seemingly getting hit by it. A loud clanging sounds rings out and Jasper stops on the spot and turns around in shock to see a giant version of Rose's shield summoned in front of the Y/n and the Crystal Gems, protecting them from the blast.

"That shield! That symbol!" Jasper says.

Steven moans as his shield dispels and he collapses onto the ground only to be caught by Y/n.

"You! You have the power of Rose Quartz!" Jasper now says to Steven agitated.

"Now do you believe I needed an escort?" Peridot asks her.

"Fire a barrage! Widespread!" Jasper commands and Peridot swipes a finger right across her finger screen. Garnet pushes Y/n and Steven out of the way as the ship cuts a line across the beach, causing an explosion with Pearl and Amethyst caught in it.
