《How I Became A Jarl》Back To Sehus pt. 3

With Hati’s warning, we both grabbed his fur and used all our strength to hold it. If a giant warns us then we’ll listen! Hati stood up and began to slowly walk toward the water. Then he jumped high into the air and it looked like he was going to dive into the water. I saw Tae taking a deep breath ready to hold air under the water. I was going to do the same but before I could even try Hati was running on the water. That’s a perk of having power similar to god I guess. Now I felt what he meant by falling off him…
I could feel the pressure of the wind on my face. He created waves while was running and any wave that was in his way was instantly destroyed. For the first time, I saw something that might destroy everything on his path. This wolf isn’t god and yet he is going after one.
At one point in the journey, some monsters appeared out of the water but they weren’t a problem for Hati. A giant sea dragon was cut into pieces with one swing. Every single small monster on his path was surely killed without any attacks. He just stepped on them.
I could finally see Sehus and we didn’t even take ten minutes to get there. This island definitely wasn’t close to Pure Sun but for this giant, it was just a few minutes' run while we would take a few days with a boat or even a ship!
I had a bad feeling about him not slowing down when we were so close to the island. Is he really going to run through the city? And destroy it by simply walking?! Once he was above the ground he changed into something smaller. I didn’t have much time to react but somehow I landed on my legs. Tae wasn’t as lucky as me because he not only landed with his face in the sand but he slid a few meters like that.

“Tae! Are you alright?”
[ Tae ]
“...Yeah. Never felt better…” Said Tae as he spits sand out of his mouth.
Right in front of me stood Hati in his much smaller form almost similar to Skyge’s. It didn’t feel like a god or rather giant was right in front of me but I won’t joke about it since my life could be on the line.
[ Eric ]
“So… What’s the plan?”
[ Hati ]
“We wait for the sun to appear. Then we will hunt her servants making her influence weaker. Find a place to rest meanwhile I’ll look for her servants.”
[ Eric ]
“Fine by me.”
I was like a week in Sehus but I didn’t do much. I remember a few places and paths but nothing about inns or hotels. Can’t spend my money on something fancy since I don’t have much…
[ Eric ]
“Where is my money?” I said as I searched every pocket in my clothes. “Don’t tell me… Did I lose it on the ride here or on the boat? No matter where! I lost it!”
[ Tae ]
“I have that silver you gave me.”
[ Eric ]
“Huf… Good thing I paid you this time.”
[ Tae ]
“Yeah… This time…”
[ Eric ]
“You know a place where we can sleep here? You were the one who talked with Sehu’s Jarl the most.”
[ Tae ]
“I think I know one place but I’m not sure where it exactly is…”
[ Eric ]
“Do you remember anything specific about this inn?”
[ Tae ]
“Let me think about it… There was a… some kind of statue near it…”
[ Eric ]
“What kind of statue? I’ve seen a few of them so it might be useful.”
[ Tae ]

“It was a guy… with a sword… just standing…”
[ Eric ]
“Tae… Almost all of the statues here are like that… And I know six of them!”
For three hours we were walking around the statues in search of this “place” Tae knows. We asked random people on the street and we found nothing. There are too many similar statues in this place and he told me that it’s near them…
[ Eric ]
“Tae… Remind me… Why are we looking for THAT place and not any other inn?”
[ Tae ]
“Because you asked me if I know a place.”
[ Eric ]
“How did we survive so long in this world? Not only you but I’m also dumb! We were looking for a specific place for some reason while there are many other inns and hotels!”
[ Tae ]
“In that case, we can go back to the first statute. There was a good-looking inn.”
[ Eric ]
“What… You saw an inn… and didn’t say anything about it? Not even once in three f***ing hours!?”
[ Tae ]
“Because you didn’t ask for that…”
[ Eric ]
“Let’s pray that we won’t day on the first day of the hunt…”
We came back to the first statue that we went to and there was an inn right in front of it… We were lucky because they had only one room left.
[ Inn owner ]
“We have one room left”
[ Eric ]
“Yes! We’ll take it!”
[ Inn owner ]
“For both of you? I’m not sure if you want to…”
[ Eric ]
“Whatever! Whatever! I just want to sleep…”
We got the room for me and Tae but of course, there was a catch… While we were looking for that place… Everyone booked rooms with two beds even rooms with beds for couples! All that was left was a small room with one single bed…
[ Tae ]
“I’m not sleeping on the floor.”
[ Eric ]
“Me neither but I won’t share that bed with you… There is only one solution left…”
We did what all men do when there is a problem between them. The unspoken rule of deciding who is going to be on top. ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS. We were looking at each other in silence.
[ Eric ]
“On one. Three… Two… ONE!”
The first round was a draw with a relieved reaction from Tae and me being more stressed. There was no winner so that means I’m no closer to sleeping in bed. During a time like this, I always get this weird itching on the back of my brain.
[ Eric ]
“Draw… Okey… Let’s go again. Three… Two… ONE!”
It was another draw with both of us showing paper. Both of our hands were shaking. It’s a very serious matter after all. To the itching of my brain was added nervous blinking of my left eye.
[ Tae ]
“Are you okay?”
[ Eric ]
“Yeah! Yeah! Everything is fine! Let’s go! Three. Two… ONE!”
My eyes became dead… My arm froze. It just didn’t want to move anymore. My stomach began to rumble like something was wreaking havoc in there. I showed scissors while Tae… a rock… With that hand… I was forced to sleep on the floor.
While I was staring and the sealing, trying to fall asleep on a hard wooden floor with cloaks to cover me I was blessed by destiny. Skyge changed into his bigger form and let me use him as a pillow!

They'll need to depend on each other more than ever if they hope for their new home to have any kind of future. In case you missed it, here's book one. ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.

STAGNANTE: Land of Stagnation
Brogdar's southern continent is known as the Land of Stagnation; rather than deserts and drylands, the land here is filled with harsh steppes. Monsters walk its plains and most nations send criminals who've murdered to die here. These criminals overtime formed clans and tribes that were able to carve an existence out of the massive continent, yet unable to break the flow of the god's minions. To this day, criminals still arrive and pray to join these tribes. And as the boats arrive from the northern nations, Ronin Londer discovers tribeless criminals that aren't able to join right away: Stagnante. The only question he faces now is if he'll survive. Set in the farflung corners of the setting created for STEM: The Topical Dungeon, Stagnante follows Ronin Londer trying to survive the land of stagnation. Monstrous beasts, other stagnante, and even the tribes themselves will stand in his way to finding a new life in this land. This series will release chapters at irregular intervals, with a focus on the story taking "as long as it takes" to be told right.
