However, I am not going to wake her up just to try it out, so for now I set it aside. Then I pick up her sword and take a good look at it, the materials are decent but common. The craftsmanship is nothing special, this sword is obviously something that was mass produced.

After working with the bow, this sword is a real let down and I don't want to work with it. I still have some iron ore left, but not enough to forge a new sword out of. However, if I reforge the sword and add the iron ore I should be able to raise the quality by a decent amount.

That will have to wait till later, hammering metal would definitely wake up Brightfire and Nala. So, instead I take out the lizard hides Brightfire collected and get to work. Using mana to stitch them together leaves no seams at all, just like when I made the sail out of wyvern wings.

I will admit to being a little pervy when making Brightfire her armor, I make it to fit like a glove. Of course, I will tell her that it is so that it doesn't interfere with her movement at all. The truth however is that I will enjoy seeing her wear it, not that I will ever admit it.

Once the armor is done I begin filling it with mana so that I can start the enchanting. The first enchantment I put into it is to allow it to adjust to always fit perfectly. The second enchantment is to make sure it feels comfortable and won't chafe.

Then I use the remaining mana to enhance the defense and the protection of the armor. Just because it is thin doesn't mean it can't provide decent protection. I would never endanger Brightfire just to have a nice view to look at once in a while.

Brightfire and Nala wake up while I am still working on the enchantments, but they don't disturb me. As soon as I finish the armor I hand it to Brightfire, then I start taking out breakfast. Of course, Brightfire immediately tries the armor on, and I watch from the corner of my eye.

Brightfire says "Wow! This fits me perfectly! It is so comfortable and I can move any way I want!"

"I'm glad you like it. It will protect you better than your old armor, but you still need to be careful."

Brightfire says "Don't worry! I will be careful!"

"Your bow is also done, but the sword isn't. I plan to reforge the sword but didn't want to wake the two of you."

Brightfire says "How can you reforge the sword here?!"

Putting down the food I was eating I pull the forge out of the pouch and set it up. Luckily, I now have enough mana that I can power the forge myself instead of needing Ruby. However, I don't power it on just yet, I want to finish eating my breakfast first.

Brightfire says "What is your plan for today?"

"Once I finish eating I will reforge your sword. Then after that I will return to the volcano to explore."

Brightfire says "Then I will wait until you are done with the sword before I go hunting."

"Sounds like a plan!"

As soon as I finish eating I start up the forge and then I grab Brightfire's sword and the remaining iron ore. Once they are in the forge heating up, I cut my hand and start dripping blood into the quenching trough. Thanks to my regen I have to keep cutting my hand to reopen the wound.

Luckily, my regen also helps with the blood loss, otherwise I would pass out before filling the trough. Once the trough is full I turn my attention to the sword and ore, finding them glowing red. I use mana to lift them out of the forge and onto the anvil, then I force them together.

Using both mana and swings of the hammer I merge the iron ore into the sword. I also use my mana to maintain the temperature of the metal, this saves me the time to reheat it. Once I have forced the metal to the shape I want I dunk it in the trough to quench it.

At the same time I force the sword to absorb as much of my blood as it can. This should grant it my immunity to fire and lightning as well as increase the mana it can hold. Of course, if I ever need to reforge the sword again I will have a serious problem since I won't be able to heat it.

Brightfire and Nala have been watching me the entire time, one excited the other curious. When I shut down the forge and sit down to enchant the sword Nala moves to the forge. After sniffing around the forge she looks at me and then starts licking up my blood.

When I don't stop her she directly starts drinking the remaining blood. After buffing and sharpening the sword I start filling it with mana, until I run out. Between the reforging and everything I used up all of my mana, so I stop to meditate a bit.

Once my mana is refilled I return to filling the sword, then I start making the enchantments. The first ones are simple, repair and sharpness, that way the blade stays maintained. Since the bow is lightning damage I decide to make the sword fire damage.

That way Brightfire will only be in trouble if she runs into something that is immune to both, like me. By the time I am done with the sword several hours have passed and it is time for lunch. So I eat a quick lunch, hand the sword to Brightfire, and then head for the lava tunnel.

By the time I get down to the bottom of the volcano I only have a few hours before dinner. Still, it is enough time to at least look around for a bit and experiment with the ice some more. When I am looking around I find that there is a mountain made of ice at the center of the island.

Just like the rest of the ice the mountain repels mana and nothing I can think of affects it. I search the entire mountain but am unable to find any entrances or anything else. By the time I am done I have used up all of my time and have to head back to the cave.

After all, I am carrying the pouch now so I need to head back to feed Brightfire and Nala. Besides, other than seeing a few more zombies wandering around, there is nothing I can do. Unless I think of something else, I have already tried everything I can think of.

There is one thing I haven't tried, but that involves using divine power. Seronia and Krenocia have been checking on me more frequently ever since I met them in the soulscape. So, playing with divine power would almost instantly get me in trouble with them.

However, even knowing that I am still tempted to give it a try before I leave the island. I think about it all the way back to the cave, but in the end I still want to try it. When I reach the cave Brightfire and Nala are both waiting and we immediately have dinner.
