《Their Human》Chapter fifty: potions

"Akielia?" Silas called out, "I can smell her around here somewhere." He mumbled to his brothers.

Freaking hound.

I got up from the floor and ran out of the pumpkin, ducking under a piece of broken wood by the doorframe. I jumped into Silas' arms, not wanting him to suspect me of anything. "Goodness, I'm so glad you guys are okay!" I told them, hugging Sei and Alexander afterward.

Silas looked around the area while Alexander prodded my body, checking if I had any sort of injuries. Sei patted my head, softly telling me that he was glad that I was okay.

"You sure gave us a run-around," Silas said, staring at the pumpkin house with a look that I couldn't read. "Your scent was everywhere. Your workplace, some random man's house, the river just a few minutes from here..."

"Uh, yeah well I've been in those three areas, kind of," I said hesitantly. Alexander shrugged, "It doesn't matter. You're here now and you're safe. That's all that matters to me."

"But how?" Silas asks me with raised eyebrows. "How did you kill the fae that hunted you down?"

Alexander glared at Silas, "This again?"

"Come on, it doesn't make any sense," Silas said with an eye roll.

I'm scared of even asking about what they're talking about.

"It clearly died by accident. It drowned didn't it?" Alexander asked with crossed arms.

"But it was in her car."

My eyes widened when I realized what they were talking about. The reason why my car ended up inside the river. A creature I didn't even see, touched my shoulder and that made me panic and cause an accident. Precious must have been unable to retrieve my car and the guys found it.

"So? It must've been trying to attack her and she lost control of the car." Alexander defended.

"How is she alive then?" Silas asked, his eyes darting to me. I flinched when they met mine and he must've noticed cause he frowned at me.

It's not easy to pretend to love him after what I found out.

Sei stared at me when I thought that, making me mentally face-palm myself. How could I be so stupid and forget that they can read my mind?

"Pretend?" He asked out loud. I shook my head at him, begging him to not say anything. Silas and Alexander turned to look at him in question.

"What's that about pretending?" Silas asked.

"Nothing." Sei huffed out. Silas frowned even deeper and turned to me.

"What happened here?"

"Alexander already said it all. I got scared by the fae and drove into the river."

"That's impossible... That you're alive right now and the fae is dead." Silas said, shaking his head.

"I just got lucky."

"No... There's no luck when it comes to supernaturals. That fae could break out of that car even if it was in flames. How did you escape and keep it trapped in there?" Silas interrogated me.

"What? You wanted her to die then?" Alexander asked angrily.

"Guys, please stop. You just got here and you're..."

"Shut up for a moment," Silas hissed at me.

"Do not speak to her like that, damn it!" Alexander snapped at Silas.

I looked at Sei, mentally begging him to follow me. While Alexander and Silas were having their back and forth, I would have to use this opportunity to try to get him to drink the potion.

We walked into the messy house and I got on my knees next to the couch, which was now covered in ashes, and looked for the fairy egg I had left in there. I gasped when I found it gone, quickly digging into the couch in search of it.

"Where's the egg?" I asked in a panic, searching under the couch. Sei looked at the floor and pointed there, "The broken one?" He asked me softly.

"No," I said, looking at the floor anyways. "It's supposed to be... It hatched!" I said, excitedly crawling to the broken green eggshells. The fairy was nowhere to be seen but I was so happy that Aloe was born.

"Where is she? Aloe?" I called out, looking around.

"What you looking for?" Sei asked me, not helping me.

"The baby fairy, of course. I want to meet her." I told him. Wasn't he supposed to know these types of things?

"How you know it's fairy? Sei never told you." He asked me. I froze, my eyes widening. Shoot! I suck at keeping secrets.

"Uh... It's a green egg. What else was I supposed to think?"

"On earth?"

"Anything is possible."

"You a scientist who never believe in these things."

"Well, I did ever since I met you." I defended myself. Sei didn't speak, waiting for me to tell him the truth.

"I can't have Silas hear this," I whispered to him. He stepped closer to me and nodded. "Speak in mind."

"He could still listen. I just need you to trust me."

I pulled out the potion from my pocket and lifted it to show him. He furrowed his brows, "who?" He only asked.

"I can't say the name... But once you drink it, you will know and understand everything."

Sei stared at it with uncertainty and hesitantly took it from my small hand.

"Silas has been..."

"I did what?" Silas suddenly said, barging into the house. Sei quickly shoved the potion into his mouth, the glass beaker included. We all heard cracking as he chewed the glass and swallowed, his face scrunching in disgust.

"What the hell did you just eat? Glass?" Silas asked, staring at his brother like he was crazy. Alexander walked in behind him and looked around the house. "Seems like the most delicious thing you'll find in this hellhole."

This place was beyond stunning twenty minutes ago.

"We should... Go home soon." Sei said softly, still trying to swallow the remainder of the glass. I can't believe he just trusted me blindly and ate the whole thing. I thought I would have to put more effort into convincing him.

"About that, change of plan. We need to stay and kill Valedria here." Silas said. I frowned, realizing that he was trying to put the rest of his plan into motion. He wanted to start the war here.

"We can't, it has to happen in your homeland," I said, making Sei and Alexander nod.

"No, just think about it. If we go back, we'll be outnumbered. Here, the humans may help since they know you." Silas suggested. Alexander thought about it but I still refused. "We aren't involving anyone else from here."

"Agreed, her parents are dead. That's bad enough as it is." Alexander said.

I was about to ask about my parents when I heard a groan from Sei. When I looked at him, he was hunched over, looking like he was in tremendous pain. "Sei?" I called him, walking towards him. I jumped back when he opened his mouth and threw up. The liquid was black and unnatural, making me hide behind Alexander. Silas looked like he had seen a ghost when he stared down at his twin.

Sei slowly got up, holding his stomach. He coughed once and stared at me, his eyes bloodshot and full of wrath. They darted to Silas, who was still staring at the floor in shock. He probably knew exactly what Sei just threw up.

"What the hell did you do to me, Silas?"

"Sei... What- What is this...?"

"Is that the first question you're going to ask me?" Sei growled, standing up straight. His eyes were neon red.

"I have no clue what you're talking about," Silas answered, backing away when Sei started walking closer to him.

"No clue? So you didn't cast a spell on me!?"

Sei sounded completely different from what he was. He wasn't the timid Sei I had grown to know. He was scary, scarier than Silas himself.

"Sei?" Alexander said softly, shocked about what he was seeing.

"It wasn't me. Whatever you think... it wasn't—"

"Lies!" I chimed in. "You forced Precious to cast a spell on him because you wanted to take over the world. Then you tried to kill her and used Sei and I for your plan. You killed Sei's mate!"

Silas looked at me in shock, then his eyes darkened. "Have you lost your mind!? Sei is my brother. I love him more than I love myself!" His fear for his brother melted as he stared at me with anger. "What the hell did you do to him?"

I opened my mouth but didn't get a chance to speak when Sei charged at Silas. He ducked and fell on the floor, making Sei nearly hit the wall. "Sei stop!" Alexander shouted, running to restrain him. Silas looked at Sei sadly and stood up.

With a loud screech, he shifted into Shiloh and sped through the door, smashing through the doorframe because of his size. He pounced and disappeared into the trees, leaving the three of us alone.
