>> A few hours after my study, that just end up chatting with the two maids, we decided to go back.
We tracked the way back to the castle by walking, and passing along the bustling crowd of the city. “Master Justine sure learns fast, right, Eisheth?” Kroni speaks.
“Yeah, he grasped out our language in just a day. Now he can read and write, and can speak our words... in no time, he can be able to communicate with everyone.”
Eisheth replied, then turns to look at me. “Master Justine, make sure you must continue learning our words, okay? We can’t attain to make you slack off just because you made a grasp out of it.”
Her words refined, and seems to be strict. Like a teacher asking her student to diligently study to maintain a good grade. That’s what my intention from the beginning, but the purpose is to go back to my world.
“Since Master Justine comprehends our language, this time, he must learn magic, don’t you agree, Eisheth?”
“That’s still too early for Master to learn.” Eisheth quickly replied. “He doesn’t have any idea how to use one; he’s not from this world in the first place.”
That certain point hits me. “I am not from this world in the first place.” I utter. Kroni walks beside me and gaze. “Don’t be disheartened, Master. We will help you along the way.”
She smiles at me. A normal smile of a young girl hits my eyes. She’s kind of creepy at times, but right now... I sense she wants to get along with me.
“Yeah.” I answered and smiles as well.
We passed the gates of the castle, along the carriage that came inside the fortress. “A guest?” Eisheth utters. From afar, a familiar face runs towards us.
“Master!” Alecto trots forward to see me, holding her skirt. “Alecto?” Kroni called out. As the carriage stops at the fort of the castle, a person comes out.

“I have an urgent message from the Queen,” she quickly composed and stated. “...The Countess, her auntie, is coming here to see you.”
Kroni and Eisheth looked at each other as they heard what Alecto said. “Me?” I asked. “Yeah, but apparently, she’s already here...”
At the carriage is a familiar face I once saw that night. With another girl wearing a servant outfit like Alecto, supposed to be her attendant, they walked towards the entrance.
“You should prepare now, Master. I want to thank you two for taking good care of him. This matter is on me.”
Kroni and Eisheth nods, as Alecto beckons me to follow her. I turn slightly to see the two, as they wave at me. “We will be there for you Master, worry not.”
In a quick pace, Alecto guided me to the chamber. “Welcome back, Master...” standing from the front door is Aeshma as she bows at me.
“Uh, yeah...” I answered. Clioking the doorknob, her hand gestures me to come inside. I followed up, as Alecto comes in as well.
“You must change now quickly, Master.” Alecto steps forward and takes off my cloak. “I can change myself, you don’t need to attend me.”
Though my voice show bashfulness, I speak to her. “I understand, Master. Your change of clothes is lying on the bed.”
All right. A change of clothes, huh?
Without having another thought, I take off my shirt, but Alecto gazes at me. “Wahh! Alecto!” I grunt out. “You don’t need to be embarrassed on me, Master... for I saw your body before.”
Her stoic looks never change; I sigh in disbelief and decided to turn my back from her.
“This is embarrassing...” I grunted while wearing the new shirt prepared.
“Master...” Alecto suddenly called while I buttoning up the shirt. “Hmmm?” I mumbled. “.... Whatever the Countess tells you, just keep yourself composed. From here on out, you must manage to stay firm and collected.”

Her voice gives a worried sentiment. “Is this a part of my studies, too?” I asked. “You may see it like that. Countess Lilith is a primordial Demon. She has a lot more experience in handling mortals.”
“I see.” I answered and turns to face her. “How do I look?”
Alecto stretches her arms and grabs the cravat in my neck to fix it. “You look good, Master.”
The way how she does this is like a wife fixing a necktie of her husband. “We should get going now...” she added and looks at me upturned.
“Ah, yeah...” I answered. I don’t know why, but I find it really attractive. Since I never see her smiling at all.
We began to walk at the hallway to the open area outside the castle. Bushes and green grasses trimmed impeccably surrounds the area. Rays of sunlight bathed the exquisite view.
Towards the open hallway, a patio is located. From there, Abigor stands. “Weloome, Your Highness. Her Highness is waiting, please proceed.”
A greet she did as we arrived. “Ahm, yeah...” I utter and keep walking. Colorful flowers bloomed from each side of the bushes, giving a vibrant feeling of this place.
At the center, the Queen sits on the wooden sofa with white cushion. Illuminating on the sunrays is her blonde hair styled in updo with braids, and pair of horns swirled as a design.
Wearing a Lapis lazuli dress, her pearl-skin glimmers. On her opposite side is another woman, wearing lime green Tudor dress. Her hair styled in half-up, half-down with braid.
Showing elegance, her charm beckons my eyes. Black, silky hair sparkle on the sunrays, and pair of purple eyes glow within. Those eyes turn to look at me, and got captured by its color.
I stopped for the meantime the moment our eyes meet. “Oh my, he’s here...” her slit shaped eyes captured me completely, and a sweet grin carved on her lips.
“Oh, Justine...” Astarte stands up from her seat and goes to me. “You look gorgeous.” She smiles at me. A sudden praise she comes up. “Your Highness.” I greeted and shows a smile.
Though, I don’t know what to tell about her. Astarte’s stunning; it agitates me just by looking at her. “And you look impeccable, Your Highness...” I compliment as well.
Her sweet smile shows up to me once more, radiating through the sunrays. Grabbing my hand, she then guides me to the empty chair. “And I believe you meet her from that night, right?”
The woman stands, as she smiles. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Your Highness. I’m Countess Lilith of Citadel.”
Her hand stretched forward to me. Her slender fingernails and smooth skin swoon me. “Uhm... It’s a pleasure to meet you, Your Highness...” I grabbed her hand.
With firm hold, her fingers entwined to mine and in an instant, she kneeled down to me and kisses my hand. “Huh?” I grunt out of surprise. “A countess should show respect and loyalty to the King...”
Her upturned gaze made me flinched. This is weird. I don’t know how to respond to that thought. “I swore a fealty to the King, and fight alongside you. I will never betray you or anyone in the court, and my life is yours to take.”
A sudden sworn of loyalty, and declaring me as the King. What on earth is happening here?

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
