《A Broken Alpha Series 1 (BxB)》Chapter 31 Bonfire

Checking myself in the big mirror one more time before I head downstairs. I'm nervous about being around all the people but I'm really excited. I've never been to a bonfire before.
My old pack used to have them sometimes but I was never allowed to attend. I always had to stay in the basement and without windows I couldn't even peek out to watch and see what it was like.
I pushed my fears away instead and try to let the excitement take over instead. I carefully make my way downstairs trying to make sure I don't run into Eric anywhere. Thankfully I didn't and I make it downstairs without incident.
When I get downstairs there's a lot going on. Everyone seems happy and moving about as they are going in and out of the house.
I noticed Grace trying to balance a couple casserole dishes to take outside and I rush over to her quickly and take one of the dishes from her.
Oh thank you sweetheart she said in her sweet motherly voice.
I follow Grace outside carrying the casserole dish. When I get outside I finally see everyone.
The pack house is set up in the middle of the territory. There's a long driveway from the main road that leads straight to the pack house.
I'm not sure how long the driveway is but it's long. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get to the main road from the pack house while driving. There's also a guarded gate near the main road.
It has a circle drive but doesn't come too close to the front door. There's a nice large grass area between the drive and the pack house with a stone pathway leading from the driveway to the porch. Flowers border along the pathway. And the landscape around the front of the pack house is really beautiful.

Coming out of the pack house, there's a large shade tree to the left side in the front yard with a swing hanging from it.
The left side of the pack house has a large open field where the giant fire pit is. The pit is so big you can probably fit at least two minivans inside of it. I guess it has to be when the pack has 1500 members. And a lot of them attend the full moon bonfire every month.
There's a large tent with a line of tables for all the food that's set up buffet style.
Everyone seems really happy, and chatting with each other. All the pups are running around playing. There's even music! I smile as I dodge one of the little pups that ran in front of me. He stopped and said, "I'm sorry Luna."
"That's okay Eli. Just be more careful next time okay." I said smiling.
He smiled back as he said, "okay, I will." Then ran off.
I sat down the casserole dish, when I looked up Grace was smiling at me. "The pups love you ya know." she said. I smiled at her, "I really like them too."
Little kids are referred to as pups. They don't actually get their wolf until 16.
I was going to head back to help Grace continue carrying food out but she shooed me away and told me to go have fun and enjoy the bonfire.
I glanced around to see what I should do first and decided to head over and grab a drink. The drink station was to the right of the bonfire almost in the corner.
As I made my way over to the drink table I guess I wasn't paying attention and tripped over someone's foot that somebody stuck out purposely. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have time to brace myself and landed face first into the grass. At least I turned my face before impact.

I heard of voice laughing at me and instantly recognized it as Eric. "Watch where you're going freak!" He spat out with such venom.
I started to get up but he kicked me back over with his foot.
"I-I'm sorry I-I wasn't paying attention." I stuttered out as I got up, holding my side.
"Well next time pay attention or I won't be so easy on you!" he gritted out through his teeth.
"Hey what's going on over here?" I heard a familiar female's voice say and Eric stiffened up instantly. He quickly took a few steps away from me.
I turned to look and see Zendaya walking toward us.
"Nothing just helping him up, he seems to have tripped and fell." Eric lied.
She walked up until she was standing in front of me and put her hand on my shoulder. She looks me over with concern almost as if she didn't believe him. She looked back at him with a glare and said in a stern voice, "Eric why don't you get back over to the bonfire." He hurried away without looking back.
Once he was out of sight she gave me another once over. Once she was sure she didn't see anything wrong with me she seemed to relax a bit.
"He wasn't bothering you was he?" She asked? I didn't want to start any trouble so I lied and said "no, I just tripped and fell."
"Listen I know Eric can be a troublemaker. He's newer to our pack, he's only been here for about 6 months. He actually came from your pack. When he discovered he was mated to one of our warriors he switched packs to be with him." She said.
My eyes shot open in surprise at this revelation. I didn't remember seeing him there. "Oh!" Is all I could manage to say.
"If he gives you any problems or harasses you in any way, promise you will let me know okay!" she said in a Stern voice.
I gave her a smile as I said, "okay I promise." She gave me a genuine smile and wrapped her arms around my shoulders saying, "come on let's go check out the fire."
