Chapter XLVI

Atlas' POV

"She passed out from exhaustion, Alpha. We are giving her all the vitamins and boosters we can do she is out for a shorter amount of time." The doctor reassured me as I sat next to Everly's hospital bed.

It's been a few days since she passed out during the reception. Her dad getting there just in time saved her from falling off the stage. I thought maybe it had to do with all the blood and that may still be true but the ultimate reason was because she was severely exhausted.

I haven't left the room unless it was to do with finding the girl that stabbed Esme.

Esme was left with stitches all down her cheek and an eye that is no longer in use.

"Do we know why Esme was targeted?" My dad asks from beside me as Artemis walks into the room.

"No," I say somberly leaning back into the chair. "Esme doesn't know why and Declan can't seem to find answers."

"Maybe she wasn't the target," Artemis speaks up making us look at her to continue, "the dress she was wearing, it's Everly's. She stole it from our room we were assigned to change in, during the ceremony. Everly had to borrow a dress from Willow. And from behind, Esme looked just like Everly. She copied her hair. I don't feel bad for her, she is clearly obsessed with you and Everly, Atlas."

It made complete sense. There was still someone after Everly, we knew that. It could have been a mistake which meant, the gruesome stabbing was supposed to be done to Everly.

Helix exploded into my mind and flooded me with angry. Unfortunately, nothing could stop me from jumping out of my skin and losing control to the beast within me.

Red is all I saw as I slipped away into the pits of my body.

Helix was out for blood.

Leo's POV

"Thank you, Legacy. Give your parents my wishes." I say on the phone as I stand outside my daughter in law's hospital room.

Atlas has been MIA for two days. Helix has taken over which the normalcy before Everly came but now it is dangerous for him to be gone this long.

Someone was after Everly, which means that someone was trying to weaken my son.

Pulling himself from the depth after losing control has always been a struggle for him and he is always drained after fighting Helix. The shortest amount of time it has left him without power was a few days, which is what we don't have.

We have to awaken Everly. She could easily pull him out without any strain to himself.

Unfortunately, everything the doctors have tried has not worked so I called a favor in with the King.

There is a Royal Shaman that resides between our packs that has came in handy when times get tricky.

"I am here for Alpha Leo Lycurgus" a shaky wise voice says down the hall.

I tuck my phone in my pocket before making my way towards with when I hear a wack and a yelp. Once I turn a corner I see a little old lady holding her cane up as one of our warriors rubs his head.

"Don't touch my cane, boy! I oughta shove it up your ass!" She exclaims pointing at him with a wrinkly finger.

"Shaman Endora," I greet her with my hand out for her to take.

"Well, hello you tall drink of water." She smiled flipping her white hair over her shoulder, "you must be Alpha Leo."

"I am, ma'am. May I help you with your bag?" I ask pointing to the duffle bag laying next to her.

She flutters her eyes and nods "how sweet of you, if you will." She motions for me to pick it up and then continues, "please call me Dora, sweetheart. All my close friends do."

I swallow deeply as I grab the bag as quick as I can. This woman is eyeing me as if I'm a snack. "Right this way... Dora." I lead her to Everly's room.

Frank and Julie are sitting next to Everly when we enter and Artemis comes to help me with the bag as I hold the door open for Endora.

"What a sweet girl," she compliments my daughter, "you must be this fine man's spawn."

Artemis looked like she had seen a ghost before she looked at my face which held a blush I tried to fight.

Artemis, to much of my dismay, busted out in laughter.

"Okay, okay," I groaned out before looking at Endora, "we need to get my daughter in law awake. We have tried everything we had in the hospital and nothing has worked."

"Hmm," Endora hummed and walked over to Everly slowly. She then put a hand on her forehead before nodding, "ah I see,"

"Can you fix her?" Julie asks desperately, "we will do anything."

Endora nodded immediately, "yes child, she can be awoken. Let me see what I got, sweet love child open my bag." She instructed Artemis.

Artemis did what she was told and the shaman started to pick through her things. She pulled out jars of herbs and mixtures, trying to find the one she needed.

I was growing impatient when she grabbed something with a "Ah ha!"

Endora turned swiftly with a plastic Dasani water bottle and dumped the liquid ontop of Everly's head.

Everly sprung up from her pillows with a gasp and wiped away the liquid, "what the actual fuck?!" She yelled.

Endora dusted off her hands and looked over to me "my work is done here,"

Artemis couldn't keep the shock off her face, "what was that? Special spring water or something?"

Endora looked around the room like we were idiots and shook her head, "uh, no. The bottle said Dasani, it was Dasani water."
