《my best friends boyfriend》jealousy, jealousy

i woke up really happy for once. i even got up earlier than usual. i had a feeling that today was going to be a good day and if it wasn't, i'd make it a good day.

"good morning mom." i hurry downstairs. "good...morning?" my mom looks at her watch. "why are you all ready?" she looks me up and down.

"i got up early today," i just smile. "it's going to be a good day." i say still smiling. my mother stares at me for a second then walks up to me. "are you high?" she questions. "what? no!"

"you're up early and you're surprisingly positive... something must be wrong," she puts her hand on my forehead. "you don't have a fever either." she frowns.

"mom i'm not sick and i'm not high." i take a step back. "good." i watch her grab her purse. "are you going to work?" i ask already knowing the answer. "yes. say bye to your brother for me. have a good day love." she blows me a kiss. "you too." i say enthusiastically.

the door closes and i look around. now what? i've never really been up this early before, thanks to me snoozing my alarm five times.

i guess i'll go get a coffee. i run to my room to grab my backpack and before i go back down, i walk up to my brothers room. at first i reach for the doorknob but then i remember to knock. i get no response.

"i'm going to get coffee, okay? make sure you wake up on time." i shout hoping he can hear me. "whatever." i hear very muffled. i roll my eyes, watch him be late.

"thank you!" i grab my coffee from the barista. "have a good day." she tells me. "have a good day too." i smile. so much positivity today.

as i'm walking out someone holds the door open for me. "thanks." i say looking at the person. we both look at each other and pause. "hey, you're the girl from the park." the guy let the door close. can this day start any better? "you're the guy from the park. the one that hit me in the face..." i say sarcastically.

we move out of the way of the entrance and my eyes start checking him out. "again i'm so sorry. i'd buy you a drink but it looks like you already got one."

"you don't have to do that, seriously." he just nods. i do the same. "i'm mason by the way." he hold his hand out. old fashioned, i like it.

"i'm bri," i shake it. mason. a cute name for a cute boy. "correct me if i'm wrong but are you new here? i've never seen you before." i say.

"you're right, i just moved here a few days ago." mason scratches his head. "cool, where from?" i ask interested. "ohio." he smiled. ohio? "that's kinda random." i should stop saying the first thing that comes to mind.

"i guess it is, what about you?" he asks. "what about me?" i reposition the way i'm standing. "have you been here your whole life?" i nod. "unfortunately." i look at the time on my phone. i still have thirty minutes to get to school. "why is that so unfortunate?"

i pause before answering. "i love washington but i want to live somewhere else, like new york or something." i've always wanted to live out of the country, maybe in greece.

"yeah me too." mason just smiles. "what school do you go to?" i ask. please say newport. "newport." yes! "i go there!" i get excited. "i'll see you around school then."

"see you around." i wave.

he waves back then walks in. i turn around and i head to my car. so far so good.

"what was so urgent that you couldn't tell me inside of school?" i ask natalie. "uh, well... you see..." natalie doesn't look at me, an obvious sign something's wrong. i wait for her to go on. "it's just a beautiful day to be outside! look at the clouds! feel the cold breeze!"

so this is how we're starting the day? got it. "natalie honey, it's on the verge of raining and it's almost forty degrees. it's not that beautiful." i say with my calm, sarcastic voice. i walk around her and into school.

"no!" natalie runs back in front of me and literally blocks me from walking. some people start to look at us. "sorry don't mind my friend here, she's just on one at the moment." i say not particularly talking to anyone. "hey!" nat frowns.

"what are you doing? i need to put these heavy ass books in my locker." i try to walk around her again. "your locker is not the best place to be at right now." she sighs. i look towards my locker and i see riley and parker. i jerk my head back when i see riley laugh and hold his arm.

"oh?" i start to walk towards them. "look i tried to warn you." nat throws her hands up. "you call that a warning?" i keep my eyes on them. "yes."

"good morning." i fake smile walking up to them.

"morning." riley finally takes her hand off his arm. "parker." i greet him. "hey bri." he looks at me for a split second. "i'll see you after school okay?" rileys does that stupid sexy voice that makes all the boys swoon. "after school?" i say out loud. i need a filter.

"yeah we're hanging out after school." riley smiles at parker and i look at him, waiting for him to look at me but he doesn't. it's as if he knows not to. "oh." i say with fake interest. "bye." parker says before leaving. control your face. i try to not show how i'm feeling.

what even am i feeling? jealousy. the bell rings breaking the silence. "wow would you look at the time," nat laughs. "time to go to class! bye!" she turns around and fast walks away. "what is up with her?" riley asks. "don't know. gotta go to class, bye!" i copy natalie and i walk to my class.

what is wrong with me? i've never been jealous like this before. why should i even be jealous? riley is my best friend and parker and i barely started talking to each other. i play with my necklace. riley and i got matching necklaces in the eighth grade. we still wear them to this day.

i need to get my shit together.
