- - - GAME OVER, RANDI HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY, TIME FOR THE PUNISHMENT! - - -

The big metal door at the back of the trial room slammed open, causing a deafening ring to vibrate the whole ground. The room it led to was pitch black, but there was an eerie glow coming from the back, one that shone brighter and brighter the more we looked at it. Randi stood her ground, not willing to go any close to the door until she absolutely had to.

Until a voice echoed from the doorway. A voice we heard in the videos.

Randi stumbled back. But how? K was dead, long dead.

But the voice called out to Randi. It came from somewhere far away, but we all knew it couldn't be trusted. The girl was dead, and nothing could change that.

So what was Randi going to do?

She bolted.

Straight for the elevator that brought us to the trial room. She ran as fast as her legs could take her, but Monokuma caught wind of what was happening and with a wave of the hand, a loud hum could be heard coming from the original doorway.

Thousands of tiny, flying robots shot out from the tunnel, all aimed at Randi. She kept her composure, continuing to run and run towards the elevator, dodging the trial stands, but never once looking back at the robots who were very well prepared to kill her.

But the room was incredibly big, and just as it seemed like the elevator was just out of reach and the buzzing of the robots began to catch up, Randi felt a hand push her forward, giving her enough of a boost to fall into the lift and close the metal doors.

The robots rammed at the bars, but Randi was already safe. She breathed a sigh of relief and pressed the up button. There would be no execution today, or ever.

Her eyes widened when she heard a grating, infernal sound, the sound of the elevator chains snapping.

The elevator plunged itself into the depths of the earth.

With a deafening bang, it hit the ground. Lifting Randi, who was lying on the dirty floor three feet into the air. She stood up shakily, still trying to process what happened. Was this hell? Or heaven? Where was she?

The doors slowly opened, revealing a welcoming scene. A cafe. But not just any cafe, the one she had seen in the video tapes. This time the windows were blacked out, as if it was night time.

She called out to her best friend. But when there was no reply, she decided to look around. Was heaven just a constant reliving of the past?

Soft carnival music played from a radio on the table. Randi noticed the fairy lights around the room, basking the baby pink seats in a dim yellow hue. Cafes were always so peaceful at night, and she couldn't help but breathe in the faint coffee smell as she listened to the wind chimes sing in the distance.

She stepped behind the counter, pulling back the chair and sitting in the ambience. So this was it? Was this forever? If this was the afterlife, where was K?

And then she noticed the kitchen door. Was K behind it? Just where she died? Randi realised there was a faint red glow coming from the gap under it. Was this really the afterlife? Was she really dead?

She touched her face, her hair and felt the goosebumps on her arms. No, this wasn't the afterlife, because she was the farthest thing from dead. She was alive, and this was no cafe. This was an execution, one she had yet to outsmart. But what was she going to do?

Part of her wanted to stay in the mock cafe forever, another part wanted her to run back to the elevator and back up to the trial room, but she wanted to find out what was behind the kitchen door. Was it a room just like the one K died in? Or was it something else? She knew it wasn't a good decision, but there was a voice inside of her screaming to open the god damn kitchen door and let out the red light. And that was exactly what she was going to do.

Taking a deep breath, Randi kicked the door open and was almost knocked back by the amount of heat radiating towards her. Trying her best to open her eyes, she noticed she was in a large metal warehouse, a long conveyor belt extending out further and further to the back of the room. She realised she couldn't see what was at the end of the belt, but she did see the little window in the back wall.

There was someone there. A girl holding what looked like a remote control. A girl who was small and thin. A girl she could recognise by silhouette alone.

But how? She had been dead for years.

It was K.

- - - Coffee conveyor, ultimate barista, Randi's execution: executed - - -

Telling herself the one in the window was simply an illusion, Randi ran along the conveyor belt, desperate to reach the end, but it just seemed to extend and extend.

Suddenly, a voice boomed throughout the warehouse. This was no doubt K's voice. Randi didn't know how she was still alive, but she knew K would help her no matter what.

"Executed, subject 04. Objective: make a cup of coffee."

"K! IT'S YOU! PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE!"

But K didn't bat an eyelid. The conveyor belt just started.

It went so fast, Randi didn't even have time to react. She was boosted along the track, forced to replay K's words. K was right in ignoring her, this was no time to have happy reunions, this was an execution. The objective was to make a cup of coffee, so what were the steps? What did K teach her? Why was she even the ultimate barista? Why why why?

Step one to making coffee, grind up the coffee beans.

As if on command, multiple large hammers fell from the ceiling, striking the belt in front of her. She could feel it vibrating under her feet and realised if she didn't run fast, she was going to be grounded to a pulp.

Randi took off again, running in the opposite direction, trying her best to make it back to the mock cafe, but the conveyor only got faster, and her efforts were completely futile. If K was the one controlling the belt, and she was making it faster, it must've meant that the belt was safe, and she was supposed to get to the end.

Turning against her gut instinct, she ran towards the giant hammers, trying her best to dodge them, but they only dropped faster, knocking Randi from left to right and causing her to fall onto the rubber floor. Once immobilized, the hammers ruthlessly came down on her, and she felt her right leg get smashed into bits.

Crying out in agony, but still determined to follow the orders of her best friend, Randi limped further up the belt, her leg dangling off her hip like a dried leaf. Why was this happening to her? What was so important at the end of the belt that K wanted her to go through all this torture?

Too late to complain now, it was time for step two.

Boil some water.

Randi lifted her head, only to be met by a large metal tub. It swayed side to side, smoke drifting up from the top. Her eyes widened and she dropped to the floor.

Oh no.

The boiling water poured down, cooking her from head to toe upon contact. She didn't get the chance to scream. There was so much water Randi couldn't even breathe, she could only feel her eyeball melt out of its socket and her skin peel off her bones.

Was she still alive? Even after that? Where was K? Would K ever wish this upon her?

She opened her one good eye and peaked up at her best friend holding the remote that killed her. Her memories flooded back, the day she found out what really happened to her best friend, the rage she felt. She longed to feel the same rage now, but all she felt was peace.

In extreme pain, consciousness drifting away, Randi remembered the final step to make coffee.

Filter it.

The shredder at the end of the conveyor turned on just in time, and Randi was thrown in, finishing her already mangled body off. The last thing that could be heard was her final shriek as she felt her body torn apart limb from limb.

K still stood in the window, staring at her supposed best friend's dead body.

The girl who was meant to be dead, now the cause of Randi's death.

As the shredder slowed down and finally stopped, we noticed a dark brown liquid drip from the spout below. The coffee was ready.

The third trial ended with 9, now only 7 remained.

I wish I could say I felt despair, but it honestly felt much worse.
