《I Can Make You Smile (David x Reader)// CAMP CAMP》33

Waking up to David's arms around me is probably the best way to start my day. Not probably, is the best way. I brought my eyes up to look at David who was on his phone, his eyes practically darted at my back as he rested his chin on the top of my head. He moved away a bit after feeling my movement,
"Morning!" He smiled. I smiled back,
"Morning." I chuckled, rubbing my eyes slightly (don't actually rub your eyes that's really unhealthy 💞😂). I then leaned up and placed a small peck of a kiss on his cheek before sitting up,
"What was that for?" He asked. I shrugged,
"Thought you needed it."
David smiled gently before tightening his grip and pulling me closer to him. He then planted a small one on my lips. I felt my face heat up instantly before I gently pecked him back.
This seemed so childish, may seem childish, but having David sitting here beside me like this in our bed, completely makes my head go fuzzy, I don't even think twice about what I'm doing or how maybe even out of character it is for me. I just pecked him back, continuing our little game with a butterfly-filled stomach and love-struck mind. He smiled at me, such a bright, cheerful, and lovely smile.
Gah! My heart!
I cupped his face and pulled him into a deep kiss, where he responded by leaning in closer.
Yelling was then heard, followed by the sound of laughter and excited screaming. David pulled away, his smile vanishing into a glare as he looked to the floor. But his glare softened to a sad expression as he sighed,
"Campers." He chuckled. He suddenly looked tired again, like last night. He moved away from me so he could get out of bed, "We were up pretty late last night getting home. You should sleep more, I and Gwen will take over today's lesson." He smiled as he pulled on his shoes. I shook my head,

"Nope!" I chirped, "I'm good to go!" I said before crawling out of bed myself.
"You sure?" He asked. I laughed gently, waving a hand,
"I'm the master at working on 4 hours of sleep. I used to read fanfictions on school nights, so don't worry about me." I said, changing my shirt and then pulling my shoes on. David gave a concerned smile,
"If you say so." He said before placing a small kiss on my forehead. We both walked toward the mess hall, Gwen already standing outside the doors, tapping her foot annoyingly,
"There you two are! Finally finished with your morning sex?!" She asked, obviously pissed off and defining the term 'don't bother me before my morning coffee' joke.
"Well-" I started,
"Don't even answer that!" She snapped. I raised my hands defensively. "Look, guys, I'm sorry! I'm really tired and I can't deal with these kids alone, try to wake up earlier." She said before turning to the doors. David took a breath, listening to the yelling kids inside before he full out kicked the door open, not even stopping to hold his foot in pain,
"Alright!! I've had it up to here with ALL of you!!" He yelled, placing his hand above his belt, "I didn't even think that was possible!!"
The kids looked back at him with confused looks.
"What?" Max asked.
"This is the fourth time this week you guys have been rude to our dear, dear, quartermaster!!" David lectured, "Do you think he likes being suspended from the ceiling against his will?!"
"Do not speak for my interest," QM grumbled in reply.
"I think it's high time you treated him with respect!!" David said, slamming a fist on his hand. Nikki looked over at the dangling camp cook,

"I mean, we left his pants on..."
Gwen moved over the ceiling fan's knob, "Come on, kids. This is shitty. Even by your standards." She said, seeming calmer than she was outside. David smiled,
"Which is why today is no longer Wednesday! But the first ever 'Quartermaster Appreciation Day!'" He paused, "AND Wednesday!!"
The campers all groaned.
"Now, I want each of you to go out and find - or make - a gift that truly exemplifies your love and admiration for our hardworking groundskeeper!" David smiled.
"I have given you nothing to revere. I will betray you all when the opportunity arises." Quartermaster said, still spinning.
David cleared his throat, a slightly concerned look before he threw on a smile, "Quartermaster, to try and show you just how much I care about you-"
"You'll be first"
"I went out and found the best gift I could think of! Your last living relative!!" David looked away with a nervously chuckle, "Well, the last one the government knows about." He added. Quartermaster stopped spinning,
"You did what now?!"
David looked to the door, "Come on in!!" He grinned before moving to my side. Everyone in the room gasped as the door opened, revealing a female version of QM.
"I think I'm gonna be sick," Niel muttered, covering his mouth with his hand. Max's eyes filled with surprise but yet terror,
"Is that-?"
"Yeppers! It's the quartermaster's quartersister!"
Preston hunched over and let it out.
"Well?" David asked. I gently grabbed onto Davids arm, "Don't you think this is a bit... Much?" I questioned. David laughed gently,
"Nonsense! This is going to be perfect!"
...
"YOU GODDAMN BITCH I TOLD YOU TO STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!"
"YOU CANT CONTROL MY LIFE I DO WHAT I WANT, WHEN I WANT!"
David quickly ran to the two, splitting them apart, "uh, Gwen, what is happening?!"
Gwen's eyes light up, "No clue, but if the Kardashians have taught me anything- I think we can make a TV show out of it!" Gwen smiled.
"I'll KILL YOU THIS TIME, WHORE! I DON'T MISS TWICE!"
"We can definitely make a TV show out of it!" Gwen nodded.
"What do we call it? The quarters?" I asked with a laugh.

Awakening
A potent tale of self-discovery. Centuries ago, the prophetic Golden Age ended in war, and history spiraled into darkness... Now, only scholars retain the last portent of the mythic city A'lara, concealed in a distant glade for the advent of the dragon mage. At the edge of the Known World, the slave Larin escapes her new lord before she meets his dark masters. Deep in the mountains, the legendary elf Kingard awaits his call to battle. When young Darek flees imperial mages tasked to exterminate shape-shifters, he launches them all on a voyage to redeem their unsought destiny. United by fate and guided by prophesy, their growing band of fugitives journey for A'lara to fight the ancient evil infiltrating the capital. But looming over the gears of fate, their enemies follow the same prophesies. With the unknown close upon them, Kingard and his allies face a mortal quest to restore their infected empire. Praise for Awakening: If you love Anne McCaffrey, J.R.R. Tolkien and Tad Williams, then Awakening is a novel you will surely want to pick up. D.N.Frost is a consummate world-builder with a knack for creating characters that are complex and three-dimensional. Frost writes with graceful prose that is descriptive and well-edited. The plot is fast-paced and entertaining. What really sets this novel apart is the cartography, which is a spectacular accomplishment. Incredible world-building! - M.L.
