《Their Human》Chapter forty seven: Mrs Zulu

Quickly driving to the lab, still very cautious of my surroundings, I stopped the car in front of the entrance of the building without bothering to look for parking. There was no time to waste. I needed to find out what that old lady knew and what role she played in everything that was happening.
I ran into the lobby, finding a woman tapping on a computer behind the counter.
"Welcome to—"
"Mrs Zulu. I need to know the address of Mrs Zulu." I quickly said, breathing heavily from running. The lime green-haired woman looked up at me, too stunned to speak.
"Please, this is really urgent." I begged her. She blinked for what seemed to be forever and shook her head at me.
"We aren't allowed to give out that kind of information, ma'am."
"I'll pay you whatever amount of money. Just her address is all I need." I asked again, biting my lip and tapping my toes against the floor. There was no time for this...
"I'm sorry, I just started working here and I just..."
Her words faded as I looked around, trying to find another way to get to her computer. As her mouth moved while she explained how nervous she was about getting this job, I stared at a decorative vase that was placed next to her. It had nothing inside but I knew that it weighed a million tons. It was ridiculously heavy.
If I could just perfectly land it on her head, just between her eyes I could knock her out cold.
"...plus, my dog died so this job is something good in my life for a change and..."
I looked around. The lobby was empty but there were security cameras around. It didn't quite matter to me if I were to get arrested. That was honestly better than having a vampire leader hunting me down for my head.
I casually scooted to the vase and placed my hands on the counter, nodding at whatever the younger girl was saying. She looked to be in her early twenties, maybe even nineteen years old. Her straight short hair was like a lime highlighter, sickeningly bright and kind of blinding. She had these innocent Bambi eyes that were the warmest shade of brown and her freckles were scattered over her nose like Tinkerbell had sprinkled pixie dust on her.
She's so adorable, too bad I have to concuss her.
When she stopped talking, I gave her a forced smile and picked up the vase as quickly as I can. "I'm so sorry for this," I said in a rush before lifting it over her head and pushing it to her as hard as I could. I heard a loud bang and a crash and that was my cue.

"God, I'm never getting hired here again," I mumbled, jumping over the counter. I yanked the mouse towards me and quickly started tapping, frantically searching for employee files with data on us. I was certain that someone had seen me from the cameras and was already making their way here.
I laughed in satisfaction when I saw a picture of the old lady I was looking for displayed on the screen, everything a person could know about her written below the image. "Albert road... That's close, I can make it there."
"Hey... What do you think you're doing?" The girl that was supposed to be unconscious said to me with a loud groan. I looked down as she sat up and I quickly jumped over the counter again.
"Again I'm so sorry, I had no choice," I said to her, sprinting back to my car. I climbed in and drove in the direction of the address. It was fortunately just five minutes away in a little area that barely had any people residing there. I've only counted five little bungalows once I drove past there but it made a lovely and quiet place.
A tad bit creepy though.
I've heard that scary things go on in the woods of that area at night.
I let out a window shattering scream when a cold and heavy hand landed on my shoulder, someone's cold breath fanning against my neck. In a panic, I let go of the steering wheel, attempting to push the hand off. My car swerved off the road and drove down a slope, making me scream whenever I barely hit a tree
I grabbed the brakes, trying to stop my out-of-control car to no avail. This was it. I was going to crash and die without getting to see how this story would have ended.
The person that had touched me wasn't screaming at all... Or maybe they were and I just couldn't hear them properly. Who was I kidding? Do supernatural creatures even die in car crashes or is that not even enough for them?
The rows of trees ended and I saw sparkling water ahead of me. I sobbed, internally groaning. I was going to drown again? Seriously?
Was it not enough when Sarah died too?
The car slightly lifted from the ground before fully plunging into the water. My head hit my steering wheel and I hissed in pain, feeling dizzy from the pain. I closed my eyes, trying to call out to the twins. I didn't know what help that would do. I was deeply submerged in the water, the surface nowhere visible. Water was sleeping into the car and I couldn't open the windows or doors.

This was it.
It was really over now.

"Can you please stop adding flowers to everything you touch, Daffodil."
"What do you mean? I'm doing you such a favor. This blouse looked terrible without the roses."
"The blouse is perfect. Did you have to add dandelions into the rabbit stew as well?"
"Flavor is key, Zuzu. Flavour."
I slowly peeled my eyes open, having being woken up by whoever the two women speaking were. I really thought that I would be dead by now, chatting to God about why my life was equivalent to one of a fly, absolutely full of crap.
What I also expected was to be in massive pain considering that I was in a terrible car accident. I slowly sat up on the soft surface I was laying on, realizing that it was an old sofa.
I looked around, wondering what other deadly person has found me and decided to take me in just to try and kill me again. That was just the story of my life at this point.
"Lookie here! Her majesty is awake!" A squeaky voice shouted out near me. I looked around the small dining room I was in, seeing absolutely no one inside. The whole place smelled like pumpkin spice and the walls were painted orange. Were those even walls? They were round, almost like I was inside a ball. There was a window behind me and there were long green vines peeking inside it.
This looked just like a...
"Welcome to the pumpkin! What brings you to our humble abode?" The squeaky voice shouted again. Still, I could not even see where the person was. I looked around in confusion and even checked the floor. There was no one in the room but me.
"Oopsie! Forgot I was still tiny!" She squeaked out before a grown woman appeared in the middle of the room. I gasped in surprise, watching as the blonde girl dusted her yellow dress off. She skipped over to me with to most beautiful smile and held her hand out to me,
"Hiya! I'm daffodil and I'm a–"
"Fairy... You're a freaking fairy! Oh my goodness!" I said in awe. She blushed and nodded shyly. I shook her hand a smiled at her. "Amazing! How did you do that appearing out of nowhere thing?"
"Well... I was always here just sitting on the chandelier. It's really cosy up there." She said, pointing at the small candlelit chandelier.
"Cool! It looks so fun up there." I said to her excitedly. She giggled and nodded, "want to see a trick? I can make my wings appear even in normal size!"
"The last time that happened, you broke the window. Please don't." A familiar voice complained behind me. I turned around, finding Mrs Zulu holding a tray with sage green cups and a matching teacup.
"Ms Zulu..." I said softly. What a surprise that she finds me right when I was looking for her. "You know about fairies... So that means you..."
"Knew about the twins, yes I did." She said softly, staring out of the window. "Please, call me Precious. That is my name."
She placed the tea on a small table and poured some, passing it to me. Immediately, the smell of herbs filled my nostrils, making my body relax slightly. I took a small sip, watching as she poured some for herself and the fairy named Daffodil.
"Thank you for taking me in. I thought I would die." I thanked her sincerely. She nodded and smiled.
"It wasn't easy. I'm glad to see you have healed. We almost lost you before your destiny was fulfilled."
Usually, if someone told me that, I would be surprised and freaked out. But after all that I've witnessed these past few days, I realized that it's nothing to fear compared to it all.
"There's a lot of explaining you need to do," I told her, staring at my tea. There were small yellow petals floating inside it and I wondered what they were supposed to do. "What I need to know first is what are you?"
I couldn't trust anything or anyone right now, even the sweet old lady that I thought I knew. Every creature was out to get me right now. I needed to know what would be different with her.
"I'm a sorceress, the last one on this planet."
