《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 87: After Battle Round-up

"Welcome back one and all, to the final round of the Maxicannion Tournament!" Kiki excitedly proclaimed into her mic. The spectators let out confused cheers at hearing it was suddenly the final.
"And after the arena modifications, we got a recommendation from thee god of death and destruction to do something a little different; he decided that it would be more interesting if instead of having the quarter or semi-finals when should instead have a battle royal as the final round," Kikou explained; the spectators erupted into excitedly explosive cheers.
As the crowd continued to cheer, Kiki looked behind herself before hopping off her chair. Kikou asked where she was going and Kiki told him she was going to go see what Lola and the others were up to.
"I guess you lost interest in being my wingman, have you?" Kikou asked. Kiki stated she wouldn't be gone for that long as she left the announcer booth; Kikou rolled his eyes and reminded Kiki to ask Zalroth about the thing they talked about. Kikou turned back to his mic and started to explain how the final round would function to the spectators.
Kiki stopped in front of a door(which had a red Y with a horizontal line going through the top two lines) when she heard Minia asking why she had to be the one to look after Kyubi; Chronia cheekily stated that since Minia is part slimling, Kyubi will feel more at ease if she's with Minia. Kiki walked into a medical ward and spotted Zalroth exhaustedly laying on a hospital bed as Lola and the other kids were sitting on his tails while Lola was playing on her handheld gaming device, as the other kids watched her play.
"Oh, Kiki what brings you here; I thought the tournament was about to recommence," Nola remarked as she, with Kusana sitting on her lap, rolled around on a chair and stopped in front of Kiki. Kiki awkwardly stated she had a request as she tapped her index fingers together.
"So... big bro was wondering if one of you guys could participate in the tournament; because, you did kinda take out that Terrorizer fighter guy," Kiki explained; Nola, with Kusana copying her, placed her hand on her chin and put on a serious expression.
"Right...," Nola glanced around at everyone in the room that she thought might consider filling in for the tournament: Zalroth was a no-go given he looked like even more of a ghost than usual, Vivo seemed like a bad idea since Nola was concerned Ruby might recognise his fighting pattern, Zalkutaro was out of the question, Minia/Chronia were preoccupied and everyone else were literal children. Nola sighed as she picked Kusana up and began to float.
"Guess I'll have to do," Nola said defeatedly before she felt a pink kitsune tail tap her shoulder.
"Wouldn't it be fairer to let Luna do it since she didn't get to fight earlier?" Zalina(In her humanoid form) tiredly asked as she was lazily laying on her tails like they were a beanbag; Nola realised that made sense before, as she carried Kusana, floated over to the other side of the room and whispered something to Luna, as she was intently typing on her high-tech laptop.

"Yeah, I guess I can do that. Just give me a sec; I need to write this down before I forget to," Luna mumbled as she rapidly typed. Nola floated back to Kiki and reiterated that Luna would participate. Kiki ecstatically thanked Luna from across the room before she hurried out of the room. As Luna was finishing up what she was writing, Star climbed down from the hospital bed Zalroth was on and walked over to Luna.
"What are you writing about, Sister Luna?" Star asked as she looked at the files on Luna's laptop before metaphorically having her brain explode when she tried to comprehend what the files depicted.
"Just the usual medical Mumbo Jumbo," Luna stated as she placed her laptop in her medical duffel bag. Luna handed her duffel bag to Star and asked her to look after it; Star stood up and swiftly flew out of the medical ward. Zalkutaro chuckled to himself as Zallino and Vivo sat on his shoulders; Zalkutaro's chuckling made Minia's ears and tails furl up.
"What's so funny?" Minia asked as she popped her head out next to Zalroth from behind a curtain. Zalkutaro didn't respond and mulled over the seemingly funny thing he thought about as Vivo hopped onto Minia's shoulder; Minia glared at Zalkutaro before she retreated back into the curtain. Minia sat down on the hospital bed which caused Kyubi to slide towards her until Kyubi bumped into her.
Minia and Kyubi simultaneously glanced over at Chronia, the doctor and the nurse as they were discussing something amongst themselves.
"It appears they're in perfect health aside from having some form of blindness; her eyes don't seem to be showing any visual signs of blindness so perhaps it is being caused by some damaged optic nerves," the doctor stated; Minia perplexedly waved her hand in front of Kyubi's face with Kyubi not responding in any fashion, not even as much as an eye twitch. The doctor and nurse explained to Chronia that they don't have the necessary equipment to examine Kyubi's eyes; the doctor added that Chronia should go to the Morikuta Hospital in Delaureus since their facilities are specialised in eye/visual-related medical problems.
Chronia thanked the doctor and nurse for their recommendation along with them checking Kyubi; the nurse asked Chronia if she'd like them to do a checkup on Zalroth but Chronia explained Zalroth was just tired from using a lot of mana. The doctor stated if Chronia, or any of the others, need them they'll be in the medical ward two rooms down before he and the nurse headed off.
"Well... looks like we'll have to make a detour on our way to the Shrine," Zalroth remarked through a few deep breaths. Scarlett poked her head between the curtains that divided the hospital beds.
"But doesn't Luna have that medical knowing power?" Scarlett asked. Minia scratched her forehead at Scarlett's question and Chronia asked Zalroth if what Scarlett said was true; Zalroth repeatedly coughed as he sat up and pulled the curtains around Scarlett away.
"She does; however, I inspected her, as she calls it, F.B.A requires her to examine infected tissue in order for her azure ability to work. So, either way, we'd need to go to Delaureus," Zalroth remarked and as he was in the middle of standing up his body seized up. Zalroth started to slowly lean forwards before Chronia time-warped behind Zalroth and punched him in the back to make his body unseize. Chronia climbed up onto Zalroth's shoulders before crossing her legs around Zalroth's neck and resting her arm on his head.

"Whatever; we should probably head over to the spectating room Zuno and the others are at," Chronia mentioned; Zalroth yawned and strolled past Minia before Zalina jumped onto Zalroth's tails. Minia defeatedly sighed as she placed Kyubi on her gelatin kitsune tails before standing up and following after Zalroth.
Kyubi blindly stared up at the ceiling and firmly held one of Minia's tails in her hands as Zalroth and Minia lightly jogged down the coliseum corridors. Vivo glanced to his right and noticed that Minia was staring at him.
"Say... how did you know what Kyubi's name was anyway?" Minia asked; Vivo simply stated he overheard Kukorama say it. Vivo was suddenly interrupted by Zalina bonking him on the head with one of her tails.
"I thought he said it was just Kukou?" Zalina perplexed said. Vivo explained that, during his fight with him, Kukorama said that he changed his name again. Zalina disappointedly groaned and slammed the back of her head against Zalroth's tails.
"That dude's almost as bad as Maya when it comes to constantly renaming things," Zalina remarked, which made Lola snicker. Chronia turned around and asked Vivo what he meant by the guy who said Kyubi's name; Vivo explained that when the heathianized Kyubi appeared Kukourama also appeared. Chronia was perplexed at hearing there was another person other than Terrorizer and telepathically asked Vivo to describe Kukorama. Vivo gave a detailed description of Kukorama which confused Chronia and caught the interest of Zalkutaro, who was in his small adult kitsune form(a black variant of Zalroth's form) and sitting on Zalroth's tails.
"How odd, I didn't see anyone who matched that description in my future visions," Chronia murmured before getting an idea. Chronia asked if when Kukorama first appeared he was floating above one of the hydra heads; Vivo confirmed Chronia's question.
"I see... perhaps the spooky thing I saw in my future vision was some sort of censorship, and wait, doesn't the description of this Kukorama guy match that one of the guy you encountered yesterday, Zalkutaro?" Chronia asked.
"Definitely... and now that I think about it I was only able to sense where he was using echo-location mana sense, even when he used magic," Zalkutaro explained. Chronia exhaustedly sighed and said it would probably be best if they think about this stuff once the situation is more calm, which the other adults agreed with.
Meanwhile, at the Dragon Heart Arcade, Kukamo was peacefully hoovering the carpet with eight hover in his hands and Zinvalia was disgruntledly counting the towering piles of Tokas(Hexagonal coins with a large X made from two curved horn engravings: which came in Silver, Red, Yellow, Green, White and Black ) that completely covered the entirety of the bar counter.
"Yet again I'm stuck with the boring assignments while Xinia and the others are off having fun at that tournament," Zinvalia complained as she balanced a sideways-facing tower of Tokas on the sleeping Vok's nose. Kukamo musically hummed as he hovered past Zinvalia before turning off all his hoovers.
"You may see these assignments as boring and very repetitive, but do you really believe Lady Xinia would be able to do them as swiftly as you do?" Kukamo asked as he disconnected the storage containers from all the hoovers simultaneously. Zinvalia smugly scoffed at Kukamo's comment and mentioned Xinia wasn't that stupid. A dense cluster of black clouds suddenly erupted in front of the arcade's front door; Zinvalia commented she was sure the Maxicannion Tournament wasn't going to be over until midday.
"Although, I would've adored the chance to watch it in person; I have important errands to attend to," Kukorama stated as he emerged from the black cloud. Kukorama's voice made Zinvalia startledly jump and spin her head around; her started state became heightened when Kukorama asked Zinvalia why she believed her assignments were boring.
Zinvalia nervously stuttered and tripped over her words as she frantically tried to form a coherent sentence. Kukamo, feeling sorry for her, decided to translate what Zinvalia was trying to say.
"What Lady Maouhideo is trying to say is that she's craving a more action-orientated assignment, your Lordship," Kukamo explained. Kukorama asked if that Kukamo said was true; Zinvalia awkwardly nodded her head while bowing. Kukorama contemplated Zinvalia's request before resigning his reservations.
"Very well, once the others return from Talkia and have fully refreshed themselves; you all will head out and deal with this monster subjugation quest," Kukorama instructed before he handed Zinvalia a teal holographic panel with a monster subjugation quest on it; Kukorama added that Zinvalia should spend her time researching the monster while she awaits Xinia and the other's return. Zinvalia asked if she should finish counting the Tokas but Kukorama stated he'll do it since Zinvalia should spend most of her time researching the monsters from the subjugation request. Zinvalia nodded her head before she rushed upstairs and into her bedroom. Kukorama readjusted his mask as he took a glance at the money on the bar counter.
"Five hundred and seventy-three hundred thousand, three hundred and eighty-four," Kukorama commented as he picked up a silver Toka and placed it between one of the scales of his cloak.
"Is Inaka awake yet?" Kukorama inquired. Kukamo stated that Inaka was still in her unintentional self-imposed food coma. Kukorama let out an unsurprised sigh as he took his mask off and his scaled cloak/hood turned grey. Kukorama hid his mask underneath his cloak and stated Inaka will probably wake up within the next few days given how much food she consumed on her birthday.
"Oh, and before I forget could you order three of those special editions Leaker Cat plushies," Kukorama requested; Kukamo stated he'd get on it before Kukorama walked out the front door.
