《Hunting His Prey》Chapter 26

I watch Penny closely, waiting to see what she does. If she figures out what her uncle is doing here, she may try to run from this cave. I won't let that happen, she will get maybe two or three steps away before I snatch her by the waist. I have been waiting for this day since we were pups. I'll be damned if anything or anyone ruins my plans. Even her.
She takes only a moment, before a wide smile forms on her lips. "Uncle Daneth," She runs right into the man's arms. My chest feels lighter as I watch him twirl her around, listening to both of them giggle away. When he places her down on her feet, she looks at him like he hangs the moon.
"What are you doing here?" I hear her whisper below her breath. Without realizing it I take a step closer to them, awaiting for him to answer her, and for her not to take it well. It's not like I lied to her, I told her everything I have planned for today. I just think she was so tired and delirious last night that she thought I was pulling her leg.
For the record, I wasn't, and I very much have plans to make us official today. Within the next hour actually. Daneth doesn't answer her right away, instead he looks behind her, his eyes lighting up. "Claudette, I haven't seen you in years." I know he's trying to change the subject. He doesn't want to be the one to tell her.
To his luck, it works, but not in the way he thinks it will. Instead, I watch as Penny's eyes grow wide, and she nibbles on her bottom lip. Even though her uncle has always been the only father figure in her life, the one blood relative to love her unconditionally, I know she's scared about his reaction when he finds out.

It won't take him long; you can smell the wolf essence on the girl once she steps into the room. Sure enough, when Claudette walks over to him, placing her arms around him, I see his shoulders tense. He looks at me out of the corner of his eye. The question clear as day held in his eyes.
When she steps back, Daneth shoots his eyes my way. I should look down, as of right now he is my superior in the pack, but not much longer. I don't anyway, no, instead I spread my legs, crossing my arms over my chest and raise an eyebrow in his direction.
Clearly, asking him without saying a word if he has a problem? Penny touches his arm, gaining his attention. "We..." She pauses and looks down at her feet. One arm like dead weight at her side, the other over her stomach. Her shoulders are bent, as though she's trying to fold into herself and hide away.
I hate when she does that. I walk over to stand behind her. Wrapping an arm around her, I bend down to her ear. "No little wolf, you stand tall and tell him everything." Her head turns to the side as she looks up at me over her shoulder. "Don't be afraid. For you will be my queen. No one has the right to cause you fear." My tone is stern as I tell her in honesty.
She studies my eyes for a moment, each of her going from one eye to the other, before I see a look of determination fill her eyes. She nods her head at me and faces her uncle once more. Before she speaks, I lick behind her ear and whisper to her "no one besides me of course."
I can't see her face, as she's turned the other way, but I can see her lip curl into a smile. She knows exactly what I'm implying. I bite the tip of her ear, forcing her head to fall back against my chest. She clears her throat for a moment, as my fingertips slide along the skin of her arms.

"We almost died last night Uncle Daneth. I had to do something to make sure she survived, or else she would have died." Her voice comes out quick and breathy. She's trying to hide what I do to her body from her uncle. He takes a moment to look at her, studying her, before his eyes shoot to me.
Nodding my head, I tell him with my eyes that it's true. His shoulders fall forward, as he sighs audibly. "Well, it looks like I'll be staying here too then." His words cause her eyebrows to furrow in confusion. He smiles at her, a sad smile, "You're going to need all the help you can get kiddo. This is some serious shit." His eyes grow sad, we all know what the consequences can be for such an action.
Of course, no one has done anything remotely like this in well over one hundred years. "We need to do this now." His eyes bore into mine, letting me know how serious he is. She runs to her uncle, out of my reach, and wraps her arms around his neck.
His wrap around her back a moment later, as he whispers that he's here for her always. He has her back, and other sweet things only someone who truly loves you would say. They stand there a few minutes, just like that, and I allow it knowing it's what she needs more than anything right now.
When she releases his from her grip, she turns her body so she can see everyone in the room. Looking us over, one by one, her brows furrow further and further with confusion. By the time they reach me, it's like something clicks within her. I stand there, not saying one word as she studies me. Her eyes growing wider and wider.
She looks down at the magnificent dress she's wearing. Bringing her arms along the material, before she looks back at me once more. "You are serious." She whispers so low if I wasn't a werewolf, I wouldn't have heard her. Walking closer to her, I reach out my hand to touch her cheek. "Deadly." I say with a stern tone. She bites her bottom lip once more, looking over at my best friends, our soon to be pack.
When her eyes come back to me, there are tears held within. "What if I'm not good enough..." I cover her mouth with my hand, not wanting nor allowing her to finish that thought. "You are all I ever have wanted. That hasn't changed since we were pups." I bring my face down so I'm close to her. So, close our lips are almost touching.
"I will make sure by this afternoon you are completely, one hundred percent mine." A growl works up my throat. I bare her down with my determined eyes, my stubbornness making an appearance. She knows me better than anyone. Can see how much I want this, how much I crave her. I want her more than my next breath. Meaning I will have her hand in mine, give her my last name, and have her beneath me screaming my name before the night is through.
