《To Be Loved By A Mikaelson | Hayley Marshal》MR. PLAYFUL PAIN

Gabriel is in the kitchen the next morning cooking Davina and Hayley breakfast when she walks in with Hope on her hip. Hayley walks towards Gabriel as Hope makes grabbing hands at him and as a reflex they both lean in.
Gabriel turns away at the last second when he realizes what was happening, his stomach dropping. He kisses Hopes forehead instead.
Davina walks into the kitchen, yawning as she stretches her arms out over her head.
"Good morning my little witch." Gabriel greets with a soft smile at her tired state.
Hayley had been completely horrified when she woke up and realized they had forgotten Davina was in the home still last night and they both just prayed she slept through it all. Davina looks around and her eyes widen in Deja vu, except this time Hayley has a baby. "Good morning." She greets.
Gabriel kisses her cheek and places a plate of French toast in front of her. He leans on the counter as Hayley gives Hope her bottle. "How was your sleep?" He bluntly questions but not enough to make davina suspicious.
Hayley inwardly smacks him over the head hundreds of times and Gabriel hides a smirk, knowing exactly how agitated she was with him in this moment.
Davina beams at her father. "The best sleep I've gotten in months actually. How about you guys?"
"It feels like I ran a marathon in my sleep last night. I was tossing and turning all night." He innocently replies. "How about you Hayley?"
Hayley chokes on the air and Davina looks at her in slight concern. "Sorry, water went down the wrong pipe." She lies to the young witch. Cursing Gabriel up and down in her head. " I slept fine."
"Just fine?" Gabriel questions in mock concern. "Not the best sleep you've ever and will ever have in your life?"
Hayley scowls at him and Davina looks between the two in confusion. "Am I missing something?"
"Hayley nearly had her back broken last night. Poor woman was shaking from the 'pain'" Gabriel tsks. Hayleys whole face becomes red and flustered but Davina only continues to look concerned and confused. "She stepped on one of hopes toys and fell onto the coffee table. Thank goodness she has vampire healing or she would be limping for "
"I'm glad you're feeling better Hayley, I'll make sure to yell at klaus to pick up any messes next time. I'm gonna go pack, he should be here soon." Davina finishes up the rest of her French toast before trodding up the stairs completely oblivious.
"My daughter." Gabriel sighs happily. "Such an angel."
"Why would you say all that stuff to her!?" She scowls in anger but she was more embarrassed than angry. The blush on her face as she remembers the love making that lasted hours upon hours not going away.
"I don't know what you're talking about momma bear." He shrugs.
"Momma bear?" She raises a brow at the new nickname.
"Well..." Gabriel dries his hands with the hand towel above the sink. Turning around he leans against the counter. "You're not my little wolf anymore, are you?"
"Gabriel..." Hayley trails off, feeling guilty for all of the pain she was causing him. But she was hurting too.
"No hard feelings." He forces a smile. "Really. I think I'm going to go look at the outdoor scenery a bit more until Niklaus gets here."
As he's about to exit the home Hayley calls his name. He turns around when he hears footsteps and his face goes slack when she pulls an envelope out of her back pocket with familiar hand writing on the front. "I-I read it. And I think you should too." She confesses.

"I couldn't." He turns away but she stops him again.
"We're not together anymore Gabriel... you have nothing to feel guilty for if you want to read it." She genuinely tells him.
"I'll always feel guilty for what I did." He admits but turns to face her anyway so that she could see the sincerity in his eyes.
"Please. Take it. I think it'll benefit you more than if you didn't." She holds the letter out to him, slightly pulling it away when Hope reaches for it.
Gabriel hesitantly takes the letter out of her hand and stares at the hand writing.
And although it hurts her whole heart to say it, she knows she no longer has a right to hold him back. "You should hear her out."
—
Gabriel stands on the back porch with his hands in his pockets staring out to the horizon as he thinks about what the contents of the letter contained.
'Dear Gabriel,
I'm not sure if this letter will ever truly find you, I've re-written so many different letters and sealed them away, ready to be mailed but a part of me just never sends them.
Gabriel's fists clench.
When the news of you being in a coma for the past couple of months reached Mystic Falls I realized it was too late. I was too late. I thought that you'd be fine, you'd give up on me and move on with your life and I could grieve in the only way I would allow myself to. You wouldn't allow me to hold you down.
He unclenches his fists. Staring at the sun as it reaches its peak.
But you weren't fine. It took a while for me to get my humanity back. I was so lost and hurt that I didn't realize how much I had already been hurting you. You, Gabriel Mikaelson who has always been my secret knight in shining armor. But I think apart of me knows that you've always been knight in shining armor. You place those you care about above yourself and you're willing to fight until your dead to protect them. Not only did I hurt you with my actions but we hurt Hayley with ours. It was selfish of me to expect you to wait for me after all my cruel words.
Gabriel wipes a tear from his cheek.
It was cruel of me to throw those words back in your face the second time. I thought about going to New Orleans myself and demanding you to wake up and listen to my apology...
Admittedly, Gabriel laughed at that part.
But I knew I had no right to intrude on your life after everything I had done. If you do ever read this, just know that should you ever feel alone, hurt, or just in need of someone to kick your ass... I'm ready to return the favor whenever you need.
He smiles at the sky line.
With all the love in my heart,
"Caroline Forbes." He whispers to himself as he traces her signature at the bottom of the letter.
—
Gabriel walks into the house knowing Camille, elijah and Klaus had already arrived. Hayley, elijah, and klaus all look at him warily for two separate reasons. Hayley, because she didn't know how he would react to the letter and Elijah and Klaus because they knew that their brother must have heard the news about Hayleys engagement by now.
"How are you feeling?" Klaus casually questions, but all but two people in the room knew what he really meant.

Gabriel gives him a closed mouth smile, looking somewhat refreshed yet still hurt. Healing. He needed to heal from this hurting. "I'm going to be okay." He honestly replies.
Klaus' smile becomes genuine as he nods his head in acknowledgment. "Would you like to say your goodbyes to your niece?"
"Of course I would." Gabriel's smile widens as he picks the child up from the ground. Holding her close to his chest he whispers in her ear. "Uncle Gabriel is going to miss you so, so much my little wolf."
Hayleys eyes fall to the ground as she hears 'my little wolf' instead of the usual 'my littlest wolf."
"The next time I see you, I promise we'll have a whole day to ourselves. I'll take you to the park, we can go buy you anything you touch at the stores, and you'll get all the sweets you want. How does that sound?" He smiles.
Hope squeals and claps her hands as if she understood. Maybe it was just the sound of his voice that she enjoyed.
Giving her a kiss on the forehead he places her back on the ground, where she immediately starts crying wanting to be picked up by the man again.
Gabriel chuckles, he crouches down to be at her level on the floor and ruffles her hair. She grabs his sleeve and when he tries to pull away she cries and tugs on the sleeve again.
Gabriel's eyes flash to Hayley as he remembers all the times she had done the same exact thing, minus the crying of course.
So he knew the solution. He took off his jacket with out taking her hand off of the sleeve and places it on her lap. All the adults laugh as she cuddles into the fabric and falls sideways onto the ground, with out a bother for any of her other toys anymore.
"I think we're ready then." Klaus looks towards Davina's bags. "I'll help you carry them to Gabriel's car."
"Actually..." Gabriel looks towards the two brunettes and his brother with a lighthearted smile. "Do you guys mind if Davina rides with you two? I've got something to do on the way back home. I may be a little late"
"And what is that brother?" Klaus questions curiously. Hayleys heart stops as she puts two and two together. She turns around to look out the window and distract herself.
"Davina, darling. Do you mind?" He ignores his brothers question and looks towards his daughter.
She shakes her head. "No, I can go with Hayley and Klaus."
"Then it's settled." He grabs his own bags and walks towards the car.
—
He watches as she locks her front door, with a small pep in her step as usual. As soon as she turns around she sees Gabriel leaning against his car with his arms crossed and a slight smirk on his face.
Caroline's eyes widen in disbelief.
"I'm here to cash in..." Gabriel raises his eyebrow as he pulls the letter out to read. "That kick in the ass?"
After getting over her initial shock she laughs, they both run towards each other, crashing into a long hug.
Her feet leave the ground as he spins her around. "Does this mean you forgive me?" She sadly questions.
He nods his head. "You were in a rough place. I'm not condoning what you said but it's understandable."
Pulling away she crosses her arms, wearing an expression that screamed 'sassy.'
"Now tell me..." she gives him a pointed look. "Why do I need to kick your ass?"
—
After multiple hours of filling her in on his life after waking up from his self induced coma she stares at him in shock.
"Hayleys getting married?!" She screeches, Gabriel covers his ears wincing but nods regardless.
"You guys went through all of that... only for her to marry some alpha guy?" Caroline exclaims.
"Tell me about it." He grumbles. "But if it's what she wants, I'll support her."
"You love her." Caroline softly replies.
"I do." Gabriel nods. "How's Stefan?" He smirks.
"When I turned my humanity off I forced him to as well and things didn't turn out so well. He's still not over Elena so he left to god knows where and Elena and Damon went on a little trip for a few weeks. Bonnies busy doing witchy stuff. So I've been trying to preoccupy myself." She huffs in annoyance.
Wrapping an arm around her shoulders he starts walking her towards the car. "If you're not doing anything for a while... would you reconsider taking me up on that offer to see everything New Orleans has to offer now?"
Her eyes widen and she throws his hand off her shoulder. "I need to pack!"
—
An hour later Gabriel holds three duffle bags and a large suitcase in his hands. "Bloody hell, woman." He complains. "Why do you need so much stuff for a few weeks?"
He had filled her in on Hope being alive when he was telling her about his past year or so of life but only under the promise that she let him compel her to never speak a word about it to anyone except the Mikaelsons.
"I'm going to be going to a wedding." She sends him a pointed look that he simply ignores. "I need make up, heals, dresses, different outfits, plus blood bags."
At that he sends her a dead pan look. "Caroline the whole city is filled with vampires. My apartment and the compound have fridges filled to the brim with blood bags."
"Are we staying at your apartment or the compound? Also have you even told anyone I'm coming." She questions with a hand placed firmly on her hip.
He sends her a sheepish smile as he loads his car with her bags. "No I have not but it's fine. We'll be staying at my apartment, Hayley and the pack of wolves are staying at the compound."
She nods, confused when he hesitates to put the last bag into the car. "Caroline... I hope you've thought over how much danger I could possibly be bringing you into. It's a very dangerous city and we Mikaelsons have a lot of enemies that would do anything to hurt us. Including, killing you as much as I hate to say it."
Caroline's smile fades. "Gabriel, I know we haven't really talked things over, concerning us. But I trust you to protect me. Obviously I can and will protect myself but I'm from Mystic falls. Psychopaths are trying to kill me on a daily basis. I'll be okay, I promise."
Letting out an exhale he nods his head. "Okay."
—
Gabriel walks into the Compound, hand in hand With a strutting Caroline. He honestly wondered if she was born strutting with attitude. They weren't together, they both knew although they'd always care for one another greatly their hearts currently belonged to another. But that didn't stop them from doing things that weren't so friendly. After all they were two vampires with high working systems...
Thankfully, Hayley was currently no where to be seen as the wolves and the vampires try to make a truce.
He walks up the stairs leading Caroline towards Kol and Klaus' voices.
Just as they walk in Klaus is handing their younger brother a bottle of absinthe:
"I brought you something in honor of your return to the fold. I believe it's your favorite, or, at least, it used to be. La Fille Vert!" He says, looking somewhat happy.
Kol takes the bottle from him and examines it. "Ding dong... the witch is dead! Or undead.Whichever. Cheers!"
"What a typical Mikaelson response." Caroline says, though not unkind.
Kol and Klaus both look up surprised at the voice and both of their faces become perplexed. "Did your werewolf lover see your vampire lover, or did you sneak her in?" Klaus mocks.
"Ha. Ha. Very humorous." Gabriel dryly states.
"Nice to see you survived mystic falls, caroline." Klaus smirks.
"Not so nice to see you survived multiple attempted homicides, klaus." She rolls her eyes.
Suddenly the bottle in Kol's hand shatters and the contents are spilt all over the floor.
Gabriel yanks Caroline behind him when the three Mikaelson brothers all look up and notice Finn.
"Where is she?" The man questions furiously.
"Finn! Please, join us." Klaus sarcastically greets.
"Finn?" Caroline's eyes widen.
"Did I forget to mention my brother came back from the dead and currently inhabits a witches body?" He winces.
"Yes!" She smacks his back.
"My, my, you look peaky." Klaus taunts, turning to Kol. "Doesn't he look peaky?"
Kol nods. "He does look peaky."
"You feeling alright?" Klaus questions in mock concern.
Finn doesn't look amused. "Don't make me ask again."
"Well, I assume you're referring to our mother. Fear not, she's tucked away somewhere perfectly safe. You'll never find her." Klaus' expression becomes serious.
"You think you've won." He darkly chuckles. "Let's see how long that arrogance lasts, brother."
Finn gives the four one last glare and storms out of the room. All of the brothers look at each other in concern.
"He's going to kill us all, my friends killed him!" Caroline exclaims in panic.
"Your friends also killed me." Kol remarks.
"Oh stop whining you're here now."Gabriel huffs, grabbing Caroline's hand and dragging her into the empty room next to what used to be his but was now Hayleys.
Klaus joins them as he tests the spell against the balcony. His hand burns and after a moment of him not taking it away Caroline pulls him backwards.
"Did he really just trap us all in here?" Kol looks towards his two brothers anxiously.
"He certainly did. Which means we have a witch problem. You're a witch. Gabriel's powers still are on the fritz. Fix it." Klaus demands.
"And what the bloody hell do you want me to do about it?" Kol says in frustration.
"Well, considering the crowd, I think you'll be more motivated to find a solution. After all, I can easily out-wait our brother's antics. You, on the other hand, might find yourself looking rather appetizing to some of our fellow prisoners." Klaus slyly mentions.
Kol looks panicked and looks to his older brother.
"I'll protect you but you should help." Gabriel gives him a pointed look telling him he had no choice.
"I'm gonna need some help." Kol sighs.
"Call my daughter." Gabriel grunts in annoyance that Kol would be calling daughter.
"Yes!" Caroline claps in excitement. "I get to meet Davina."
—
Hayley stands on the balcony watching everyone, still peacefully unaware that Gabriel had returned with Caroline. After a moment, Klaus joins her. She sends him a weak smile before turning her attention towards the courtyard again.
"Worried about your wolves?" She sends him a blank look. "Or, perhaps the source of your anxiety is a little closer to the heart? How is Gabriel, by the way? I'm sure he found your visit most curative."
Hayleys face heats up in embarrassment. "Ew! No." But she eventually caves in with a clear of her throat. "That obvious, huh?"
Klaus barks out a laugh. "Well, you both had a certain glow about you all morning. Frankly, I'm glad the two of you dropped your pretenses and, uh, shall we say... let the spirit move you?" He starts laughing and Hayley shoves him playfully soon joining in on his laughter.
When his laughter dies down he smirks. "You know he's back?"
Hayley looks up in surprise. "Just him?..."
Now it's Klaus' turn to clear his throat, and she nods her head in understanding.
"If it's any consolation... I believe they're just friends this time." He notices her staring at Jackson in guilt. "You're feeling guilty, aren't you? Wondering if you should tell your betrothed things he doesn't need to know. From all the poems written on the subject of unrequited love, there are so few on the pain of being the object of that affection. The truth is, Hayley, it's not love on which the strongest foundations are built. It's the decency of merciful lies."
—
Davina arrives to the compound but is careful enough to stop short of the entrance to the courtyard, knowing that she would be trapped and useless if she went any farther.
"My beautiful daughter." Gabriel greets on the other side of the entrance.

Path of Righteousness
What do you desire? What are you afraid of? You run away from one, pursuing the other. Is that all you are? Conquer your fears. Dig to the bottom and confirm, what you really want... ...For you cannot escape suffering and death. You only have a little time. Use it wisely. Uru, a young boy with no talent for magic or fighting, sets out on a quest to become an avatar of order, the physical embodiment of righteousness, in a distant future, where control of origin energy allows people to defy physics and manipulate causality. Mocked by fate and broken by impossible dreams, all that's left is to stand in defiance to cruel existence. Because there is a Truth out there, somewhere. Singular, transcendent, eternal. What would you sacrifice for it? *** This is a fantastic sci-fi epic. It's going to blend both western and eastern traditional fantasy tropes – like might & magic and cultivation – with rational sci-fi grounded fully in reality, to produce a purely fictional fairy tale. I'd like to deliver something light-hearted and yet wholly serious. An uplifting adventure exploring the unfathomable reaches of humanity, free of indecency, with a healthy dose of humorous banter, legendary beings, and most importantly – lots of exciting, firework-filled mayhem! I've tried reading many web novels, but there's a fundamental problem with them – the eastern ones are annoyingly repetitive, superficial and morally destitute, while western ones are often dark, convoluted and profane. There's only so much one can do to filter out the bad and try to fill in the gaps with their own imagination. It's one thing to eat tasty fast food, but if it's moldy and filled with toxins, then it's not only poisonous, but also disgusting. The appreciation of beauty and higher values is disappearing at an alarming rate. Although there are throngs of talented people out there, none of them are creating what I want to witness – an inspiring battle against impossible odds, ending in absolute victory. A triumph of the spirit so overwhelming, it crushes the spectator into his seat and takes his breath away. I'm looking for a real paragon, so now I'd like to try conceiving one. *** The MC's name comes from Tolkien's Elven dictionary in Silmarillion, 'Uru' meaning 'Fire', and 'Dagnir an Uruloki' meaning 'Slayer of Dragons'. *** Note: I'm neither a native speaker, nor an aficionado of literature – I've never written anything before, and despite proficient English my literary prowess is abysmal. It therefore takes me a painful amount of effort to polish the chapters and bring them up to par. Last year I wrote and posted some on FictionPress, but I stopped since it wasn't going anywhere. The appalling amount of filth and mediocrity being peddled in all the media nowadays – a result of no conspiracy to manipulate the masses, but plain supply and demand – is no longer just the triumph of form over substance, but most worryingly corruption of the latter. Who wants to read about ideals anymore? And yet, masses flock together to gobble up perversion and depravity. That being said, I can't rule out pitiful exposure as the culprit to my failure, so I am now once again trying to increase it here, possibly for the last time. If there are still human beings present, hungry or in need of a detox after eating too much garbage, make yourselves heard, so I can see a reason to continue the story. Otherwise it's pointless – I'm not going to make fodder for the masses, and I'm most certainly not going to throw pearls before swine. I'll simply stop writing altogether.
