《Just Friends // Pierre Gasly》Are Dreams worth it?

That night Arthur and Charles stayed over in Y/n's room as planned. She was surprised but relieved that the night was peaceful and she managed to sleep through it without any nightmares.

The next morning she got up and ready, leaving the two guys to sleep. She wondered out into the hall and when she reached the door she had looked for she knocked quietly. It opened fairly quickly. The person on the other side seemed happy but confused as to why she stood at their door.

- "Summers? Everything Okay?"

Y/n: Yeah. Can we talk though? I need advice and I leave soon.

Max: Sure, come in

She made her way to the couch and Max followed, after closing the door behind her.

Max: So... what can I do for you?

Y/n: I just... she took a breath... remember when you saved me from that restaurant with my dad?

Max: Of course I do. Why?

Y/n: Well that was the first time I really understood that you guys are all my family.

Max: Of course we're family. Hell Summers if someone like your dad hurt you like that again I don't know what I'd do to them. You're like my unofficial little sister.

Y/n: Thanks Max, that's why I came here. Claudia needs an answer in a week and I'm nowhere closer to one than before.

Max: I don't understand how I can help?

Y/n: Tell me something... are dreams worth the loss?

Max: What do you mean?

Y/n: You're a formula one world champion, you've raced your whole life. Surely to reach it you faced loss, it can be as simple as cancelling a play date with your neighbor as a kid for karting practice or something greater like missing a family dinner because you were at a race... So I ask again, are following and achieving your dreams worth the loss that goes with it?

Max: It's more complicated than a simple yes or no answer. I believe everyone should have a chance at their dream and achieving it in life but do I believe that it's worth the sacrifices? Sometimes. Sure, I never had a childhood playing tag with the neighbors kid but I made even better friends through karting and formula racing... friends that had the same dreams as me and I'm lucky to have some of them on the grid with me today. I do look back and wonder what a more - I suppose - normal childhood would've been like and do wish I could've experienced one, but at least I never look back and wonder 'what if I never followed my dream...'

Y/n: What if it didn't work out?

Max: I wouldn't have known that unless I tried.

Y/n pondered his words... at least I never look back and wonder 'what if I never followed my dream'... I wouldn't have known...

Max: I know you don't want to say it to anyone but I can tell that you want to go to Seattle... otherwise you wouldn't be here asking this.

Y/n: I- I-

*knock knock*

Max: Who is It?!

Charles: It's Charles! I'm looking for Y/n

Y/n: I'm here!

Charles: Great! We're meeting for brunch before you fly! Be there in 10!

Y/n: Okay!

They heard footsteps disappearing down the hall and Y/n took in a breath before she spoke.

Y/n: You're right. I want the job but I don't want to take it like this... I won't.

Max: I have a feeling by 'this' you mean leaving this world for that one.

Y/n: Indeed. I know if I don't take it I'll never know but Max, what they're asking is more than just simply cancelling on a friend, it's leaving them entirely.

Max: They have asked a lot of you and- wait. I might have an idea...

Once they finished discussing the plan, Max and Y/n made their way to the hotel's restaurant. She knew the plan was a long shot and didn't have much time but it was worth a try. She brushed the thoughts aside though the minute she saw the warm smile of the man she loved.

Pierre: Chérie, there you are! Everything okay?

Y/n: Everything is perfect, can't wait for Milan.

Pierre: I can't wait either. I get to have you in my arms every night and every morning.

Charles: Still isn't fair for you to steal her.

Y/n: Aww don't worry bro, I won't forget you.

She winked at Charles

Y/n: But I will miss you a lot. Now let's eat please! I'm starving!

Y/n's POV

———————

Brunch was going so well and it was so great to be laughing again after a weekend of feeling far from myself. Max's advice and plan really helped ease a lot of stress this morning so I knew I'd be able to enjoy Milan and the time I got with Pierre before the second last race of the season, the first of a double-header, at the Yas Marina circuit.

Max: So, Charles, ready to race me again? We're extremely close on points now.

Charles: I'd need a miracle to have a successful race. I'd have to win one of the last two and place above you for the other.

Arthur: Way to be optimistic bro. Come on, your guys' race pace is great.

Y/n: He's right but I have a few things to say about their other matters though.

Charles: Yeah. Like I said. A miracle.

Max: Well it's been fun nonetheless, closely racing you again. Like the old days.

Pierre: You mean the incident filled days.

I almost choked on my water at Pierre's comment. Clearly everyone but Max and Charles were amused by said remark but I didn't care, I laughed. Only when we settled did I realize I had a plane to catch with Pierre.

Y/n: Oh, what time is it? Cant be late to the airport.

Pierre: We actually better get going. Cheers mates, see you soon.

Y/n: Yeah, uh- bye guys. I love you so much and I'll phone you all the time.

Charles: Be safe, love ya lots.

Arthur: I'll miss you

Y/n: I'll miss you guys too but I'll see you soon.

After that I made my way to the lobby with Pierre. As we walked I stopped dead. Why was I missing something.

Pierre: Everything okay?

Y/n: No... I think I forgot something

Pierre: Oh? Wanna go check the room?

Y/n: No, nothing like that... I- wait here! I got it! I'll be right back!

I remembered what I was missing and ran back to the restaurant. Please still be there. Yes! They were just leaving but I stopped them.

Max: Summers? Everything okay?

Y/n: No, I forgot something.

I ran up to my brothers again throwing my arms around them.

Y/n: I forgot to hug you guys

I felt their arms snake around me.

Charles: You didn't have to come back for-

Y/n: I did. I'll see you guys soon okay... bye now

Arthur: Bye, see you soon.

Feeling satisfied now I returned to Pierre.

Pierre: Got everything now?

Y/n: Yip

Pierre: Ready to come to Milan again?

Y/n: Yip

I intertwined our hands and walked out with him. I know it isn't a permanent move as I'll go home after the season, but I couldn't wait to be with Pierre, it would be him and I and that's all that I needed.
