《She's Mother {Rengoku x Demon! Reader}》Chapter 20: Ubuyashiki meets the family

They all "ooh-ed" and "ah-ed" at the large home. You smiled as they all trailed behind you. Oka held your hand tightly, he was nervous considering the new surroundings. He was the shyest and wary of your children, the six-year-old still learning how to interact with society.
Sasori bounded up next to you, looking down at the boy clutching your hand. "Come on Oka let's explore, you can hold my hand," she smiled and offered her hand to him. He was hesitant but grabbed the older girl's hand, once Sasori felt his grip was firm she took off and drug him behind her.
You couldn't help but laugh as she dragged Oka behind her. Arita laughed and chased after the pair, the other children falling in easily and running after the leading pair. Akaza sidled up to your side, tucking himself into your body.
"How do you think they'll do?" He questioned and rested his head on your shoulder as you walked forward. You weren't sure how he wasn't tripping over you but shrugged it off.
You felt his chin hit your shoulder as you shrugged, "not sure. They are all well-behaved, so I don't think they'll behave poorly but it will be difficult for them to adjust. Especially the younger children," you replied, and continued forward.
He hummed non-committedly, and that was all you heard from him. You walked up onto the porch, knocking politely on the door. The children were behind you, running around and playing. They were finally allowed to run around and be free, so they were getting all of their energy out.
Tamayo had kept them inside as often as possible, only letting them out when the sun was at its highest, sitting in the shade in case anything went awry. You appreciated her cautiousness endlessly. After Muzan had attempted to come after your children, you were extremely paranoid.
A young girl answered the door, bowing politely and moving to allow you entry. Akaza moved to follow you but you placed your hand on his chest, you kept your arm stiff so he couldn't follow you inside. "Stay outside and watch the kids for me?"
Akaza squinted at you before he turned his head and nodded. He trudged back down the small staircase, slouched, and plopped down in the dirt. "Thank you Akaza," you called behind you as you entered to home.
The girl led you to a large room, a table sat in the center, and a tea set waiting to be served. Ubuyashiki sat on the other side of the table, his smile still ever-present. "Ms. (Y/n) is here sir," the young girl spoke. Ubuyashiki's smile widened. "Please sit Ms. (Y/n). The hashira are wandering around so it's best that neither you nor your companion tries anything."
His smile turned creepy, and you repressed a shudder. "Of course, I only wish for my children to stay with you and remain safe." You paused, "if you wish for immediate protection, Mitsuri or Rengoku are more than welcome to join us." Ubuyashiki tilted his head, a gentle smile overtaking his features once more.

"I'll bring them in then, especially if they make you more comfortable," he spoke as he waved a girl over. He spoke into her ear, and she scurried off. You watched as she left, hoping that one of the two were nearby.
We sat in silence for about 5 minutes before Mitsuri came skipping into the room. She opened the door with a confused look on her face before meeting your gaze. She seemed to light up at the sight of you, skipping over to the table and sitting down near you.
You smiled back at her, nodding politely. She seemed like she wanted to ask questions but she remained silent, looking toward Ubuyashiki expectantly. He only gave her a patient smile, simply waiting for Rengoku to enter the room.
You could faintly hear two sets of footsteps walking towards the room, one set having a considerable hitch in their gait. Demon hearing could truly be both a blessing and a curse.
You repressed a shudder at the memory of one of the inns you stayed in. The sounds were honestly atrocious, that poor woman. You shook your head lightly, trying to rid the thought from your head.
The door behind you slid open, and there stood Rengoku. He looked just as confused as Mitsuri did, and again when he saw you his face lit up. He smiled when he saw Mitsuri, sitting on the other side that was closest to you.
"What are we here for Master?" Rengoku questioned, seeming appeased by the fact that Mitsuri and you were present. "We are here to discuss Ms. (Y/n)'s children and the terms of their staying here along with Ms. (Y/n)'s help." He spoke slowly as he ushered for the tea to be poured.
A kakushi rushed up, pouring four cups of tea. Once the kakushi stepped away Ubuyashiki gestured toward the cups. You reached forward, gripping to delicate cup and bringing it to your face. You sniffed it slightly, smelling nothing suspicious, and taking a cautious sip.
You couldn't help but hum at the taste, pleasantly surprised. You set your cup down softly, "this is very good, thank you Ubuyashiki." You intoned, placing your hands back in your lap for a moment.
Mitsuri and Rengoku brought their own cups to their lips, sipping politely. They hummed as well, sipping here and there. "My children are well-behaved, and they are all used to working to maintain a home. My boys are good and strong, and the girls are well-behaved and polite. If there are any behavior issues please contact me and I'll handle it." You affirmed, with a leveled gaze at the leader in front of you.
"I only wish for my children to be safe, and stay that way. I am willing to fight with the demon slayers on whatever you need me to do. All I wish for is for my family to remain safe and the end the Muzan's reign of terror." You sipped your tea once again.

Ubuyashiki smiled, nodding. "That should all be doable. I will do my best to keep your children safe, may I ask why you feel they need to be here to be safe?" He probed. You frowned, disliking that you were having to give away these details. "Muzan came to my home, asking for me. He knew where they were, and I refuse to put children in danger because some manchild wants to get to me." You growled.
"As long as they aren't easy to get to, Muzan won't go after them. He's lazy, he liked things to be easy. As long as I'm the easier target he'll never think to go after them again," you took a deep breath. "And if he comes here," you stabbed your pointer finger at the table, "I will kill him, no matter what." You barred your teeth as a threat, not towards anyone in the room but to ensure they all understood your intentions.
Rengoku stared at you, wide-eyed. Mitsuri mirrored Rengoku's gaze, cup halfway up to her lips. "My entire goal is to end his life. If I die while doing so, then so be it, as long as my children are able to live long and safe lives then that's all I care."
Rengoku twitched at your exclamation, not liking how willing you sounded to simply throw your life away. Ubuyashiki smiled, holding his cup to his chest for warmth. "Please bring your children in then so we can be acquainted." You smiled, standing swiftly and going outside to call them all in.
"Children! Time to meet the owner of this lovely estate!" You yelled, the children going silent when they heard your voice. A few were hanging off of Akaza, and his face read mild annoyance, but he knew better than to retaliate. You smiled fondly, waving everyone towards you.
They all scramble forward, standing in front of you and waiting for further instruction. "Who are we meeting mother?" Sasori questioned, still holding Oka's hand. "We will be meeting Mr. Ubuyashiki, he is the owner of this estate and the leader of the Demon Slayers." You smiled before turning around and opening the door in front of you.
Akaza took up the rear, closing the door behind him as you lead everyone into the large room that Ubuyashiki, Mitsuri, and Rengoku were still sitting in. You slid the door open and stepped aside to allow all the children into the house. They all filed in, standing in a line on one of the long walls. "Ubuyashiki, these are my children," you gestured toward the small horde of children.
"Their ages are 12, 10, 8, and 6. Sasori and Arita, 12." You gestured and they stepped forward. "Misa and Rō, 10." They stepped forward as well. "Suou and Oka, 8," Oka was nervous but Suou grabbed his hand and pulled him forward. "And lastly Rué and Ide, 6." They were holding hands, not making eye contact with any of the adults in the room, and clearly nervous.
"It's lovely to meet you all," Ubuyashiki smiled politely. Arita stepped forward, "it's good to meet you as well Mr. Ubuyashiki," he bowed and stepped back again. Rengoku perked up at seeing the young boy. "Is that who you wish Senjuro to meet?" Rengoku asked as he looked up at you.
You smiled and nodded, gesturing for Arita to come forward. Rengoku moved to stand but you gently put a hand on his shoulder. "No need to strain yourself," you smiled, Arita standing in front of you, mildly confused. "Arita, this is Kyojuro Rengoku. He has a younger brother around your age." You spoke happily. Arita nodded, bowing to Rengoku as well.
"It is nice to meet you Mr. Rengoku, I hope that I will be able to meet your brother and that we get along well," he intoned, standing upright again and looking to you for further instruction.
You nodded at Arita, and he smiled at the both of you before retreating back toward the other children. You looked down and kept your smile as you looked at Rengoku. He smiled back at you, gently bringing a hand up and resting it against yours, which was still resting on his shoulder.
Akaza felt anger boil within him, but Mitsuri couldn't help but gasp and squirm at how cute the two of you were. Akaza felt his jaw clench, and his teeth grind together. He knew better than to make a scene, but it was tempting to simply take you and run away, but he knew you'd kick his ass.
Ubuyashiki broke the moment as he clinked his cup back down onto the table. "Well then, how about we get everyone settled into their rooms and introduced to the rest of the household." You nodded, "yes that sounds like a plan," you smiled as Ubuyashiki stood. Ubuyashiki opened a door to the right of him, you and the children followed him out and toward the rest of the estate.
Just for clarity, the girls names are put first, then the boys names. If there are any typos I do apologize. And just so everyone knows if there are large blocks of italic text that means that it's a dream or a flashback.
Hope you all enjoyed!

RE: Souls War Apocalyse
When I and every other humans on earth have been summoned to the cursed world of Yvelmore, to serve as a front-line soldier in an impossible war against an invasion of nightmarish creatures, I knew right away that something was going to go wrong. I was right. The war? Hell, we lost it so much all the nations of the world have been destroyed and all the races have disappeared. Me? I was a veteran who survived until the end. Was I strong? Fuck yeah of course I was, except ... it was useless, I died like everybody else. The bad news? When I thought it was finally over, I woke up in the past, the moment I was summoned to the beginning of the war. Come on, seriously? Do I really have to go through all that again? What? And everything restarts every time I die? No... are you fucking kidding me? Right? Genre: Action, Adventure, Medieval Apocalypse, Times Loops, Progression, War & Fantasy, Grimdark, Magic, Horror, LitRPG (but RP). Tone: Despair at the firsts chapters (which makes sense for a story that begins with the end of the world, doesn't it?), and lots of humor and stupid situations after to lighten the tone of the story. (Oh, and the MC is NOT a psychopath, a rapist, a hypocrite, or human garbage, so sorry for those who like that, because I don't like that). Note: Expect this story to contain grammatical errors and occasional random conjugations. I am learning English, and I have made a lot of progress, but I still have some gaps. So if you're allergic to it, don't read this story, you would inevitably be disappointed.
8 183Summoning went wrong (draft)
Who doesn’t like fantasy? Worlds full of interesting and new things that baffle the mind of anyone. Races like elves, dwarfs, and beast peoples, roaming the land, in search of different things that might be banal from them but incredible for others. And if you are someone who comes from an otherworld you will certainly receive a great power, rare equipment, trustworthy companions or even a harem, while you are tasked to fight the Demon Lord and his army made of monsters, for peace and glory. But have you ever asked this question: What is like to be on the other side? Follow the story of Steven Torres, who was abducted from his world with his classmates only to be thrown away into a chaotic world as the most hated race. While the hero’s job is to fight for justice, his at least a lot simpler. To survive, another day. ( I moved here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/39906/summoning-went-wrong)

Note: A re-write is currently being posted to both this site and AO3. I recommend you read that version first instead of this one, so check my profile for the new version. A snarky, anti-social band student named Ashley finds a strange journal in her closet which allows her to access a mysterious parallel world. This kicks off a bizarre and turbulent journey, in which she finds herself leading the charge against a malevolent entity. The story is inspired by Persona 5, but features a fully original cast of characters and setting. Note that this work is overtly religious. Note: This story should only be posted to Archive of our Own, Royal Road, and Wattpad. If you find it anywhere else, please let me know.
8 120Slam No Basuke
This is an experimental Light Novel. The life of an ordinary basketball player started to change as he began to use his hidden powers to enjoy the game he loves. Read as he navigates the pitfalls of life as he tries to balance his basketball career, his love life and the responsibilities given to him as a Master Ki practitioner known simply as the “Batoh.” I just feel that Fantasy Sports is not fully represented in Royal Road and this is my attempt to do one. Additional chapters will come haphazardly since I am juggling another story. And now that I am doing this, I suddenly realize that I need to research a lot of the sports and this may or may not affect the speed of delivery for the next chapters. MATURE [17] FOR FOUL LANGUAGE AND SEXUAL INNUENDO. And without further ado, I gave you SLAM NO BASUKE.
8 117A loose thread
The goddess picked him up. He tried to struggle free, but her grip only tightened. Eventually her thumb caught his head, pulling it backwards. He stared helplessly as she brought her free hand closer, revealing a small vial in her massive hand. She pressed it to his lips, and he felt the contents flow into him. He tried not to drink it, but his body would not listen. Despite his revulsion, his body ignored him by drinking deeply. "Drink and forget. I will give you everything you ever wanted. A loving family. A comfortable home. And then, " Her grip tightened, and forcing the air out his lungs. He coughed up the strange liquid and caused more to spill. “And then, you will pay for your defiance. On your twentieth birthday you will remember.” She pulled the vial away and turned him to look at her. “You will remember, just as everything you love is taken from you, right before your eyes…” Her voice trailed off and his world went dark. .... The above leads right into the story. The first chapter is a bit rough as the MC (a child at the time), hurts himself rather badly. I will try to include similar warnings on chapters as the story goes on, but I want to be up front that I may miss or forget things. Many of the tags are included so I can have flexibility writing the story. I am posting this largely to hold myself accountable to keep writing. Chapters will be short, but I am planning to post weekly. This is the first thing I have written (you've been warned). I am enjoying the story and I hope you will too. Please feel free to let me know what you think of the story as it progresses.
