I stand with my eyes closed focusing on everything around me. In a quick flash I bring my hand in front of my face, catching the dart and smile, opening my eyes.
"Pay up." I laugh holding my hand out to the guy that threw it. I stuffed the money in my back pocket and walk up behind Josh. "Cool profile." I tell him laughing as he jumped and my dad came over.
"Any prospects?" He asks Josh taking a seat and handing him a drink.
"None." I shrug sitting on the arm of Josh's chair as they both raise their eyebrows at me.
"Well, since you asked, yeah, there's this one guy. I mean, we've only been messaging so far, but I think I like him. Like, really like him." Josh tells my dad.
"So what's the problem?" My dad asks not understanding why he's not jumping on this guy.
"Oh, I don't know. Might of left a few things out of the old profile. For example, what's got two thumbs and drinks blood to survive. Oh, right. This guy," Josh smiles sarcastically and lifts his two thumbs up as one hand has his drink and the other his phone.
Me and my dad chuckle as Josh smiles sheepishly before all three of us stand up at the crashing sound and a vampires body, Adam somebody I knew, flung through my dads loft window.
"Oh my god." I gasp grabbing my dads arm. We hear growling and a whole bunch of werewolves come in from everywhere.
"What the hell is wrong with you people?" Gia asks walking towards us. "We didn't do anything."
"This nothing your kind hasn't done to us. Learn your history." A guy says as he walks forward.
"I don't know who the hell you are. We had a deal. Vampires stay out of the quarter, everybody's cool." My dad says.
"That's not good enough anymore." The mystery guy responds.
I look over at Josh seeing his face full of shock as my dad talks. "Oh yeah? Says who? You, or that witch you all answer to now. Lenore, right? Never thought I see the day...proud werewolves on a witches leash. I hope those rings you're wearing are worth it."
The guys let's out a small laugh looking to one of his friends. The guy turns to one of the vampires going to bite him as Gia screams but I speed to the wolf and rip out his heart. Another wolf goes to attack Josh but the guy calls them off.
I walk over to the mystery guy with a sigh looking at my bloody hand. "Listen up, alright? I don't care who you are and I don't care why you're here. But the second you go hurting the people I care about is when I start ripping all of your friends hearts out. Wolves or not." I bring my hand up to his throat, squeezing it harshly and let my eyes glow their blue-ish yellow colour. "Now, take your friends and get the hell out of my dads place or it's gonna be your heart next." I let go of him and watch as he drops to the ground, trying to catch his breath.

He looks to me then over to my dad standing up. "Your privileges here have been revoked, permanently." He says angrily. "So when we come back, you need to be gone because next time I won't call them off. Consider this a warning, Marcel. It's the only one you going to get."
I look around letting my eyes wander before I smirk and speed to one of the wolves and breaking his neck, the crack sound making everyone look at me. "Oops?" I smirk before shoving him in someone else's arms. "Take that as your only warning." I let my eyes move to Oliver and glare at him before all the wolves leave.

I walk through the busy, loud crowded streets and put my phone to my ear. "Finally! You pick up your phone. I've been trying to get a hold of you for days!"
Davina voice rang through the speaker.
"Yeah, well, word on the streets...and by streets I mean Josh, is that you've gone totally MIA! Seriously, are you okay? Where are you?" I asked worriedly.
My eyes soften but then I hear nothing.
"Davina? Davina?" I ask pulling the phone away and stop walking looking at it.
"Well, that was rather rude." I hear from behind me and spin around seeing Klaus leaning against a pole. "Well, it's a pleasure to see you too, Maddison." He says doing that smile/ smirk thingy.
"Don't...don't do that crooked smile thing, ok?" I stutter shaking my head. "You haven't spoke to me in for however long, and now you're appearing out of the blue? What do you want?"
Klaus stand up straight walking towards me. "I have a rather long list of people I need to track down and deal with, and at the top of that list is a certain runaway witch."
"Maybe she doesn't want to be found." I reply.
"And for good reason. Had I magically resurrected the insane vampire-hunting father of my sworn enemy, I'd be hiding, too." He says as I look at him shocked.
"Wait what?" I ask taking a step forward towards him. I knew Davina was controlling him but I wasn't aware she brought him back to life.
"Oh, haven't you heard? Mikael the destroyer back from the dead, and by all accounts under the control of your little Davina." Klaus tells me.
"Well, you heard her clearly. She didn't say where she was." I say worried for Davinas safety.
"Oh, On the contrary, love. You just had to know how to listen. For instance, I heard cicadas, and I heard terns, but the real giveaway was the church bells. Did you know Davina's family owns a little cabin in Terrebonne parish? It's been abandoned for years, but a brief glimpse at a map shows it's just a mile from the loveliest little chapel." He explains which makes me sigh in defeat.
"So what's the plan?" I ask tiredly.
"Well, the way I see it, if Davina wants to use Mikael to kill me, we just have two potions." He says holding up two fingers. "One, you reason with her. Two..." a smirk starts to form on his stupid beautiful face, "I don't think you'd like two very much."

I stay silent for a moment and nod. "Fine. Let's go." I turn and start walking feeling him walk along side me, his arm brushing against mine in the heavy crowd.

Music plays as I sit in a random bar with my chin resting on my hand and a drink in the other. "Wait in the car, you said. I'll be right back, you said." I roll my eyes taking a sip of my drink. "Did I not sufficiently explain to you the urgency of this endeavour?"
"You're the one who hijacked my afternoon to drag me along to this revenge fantasy of yours." I snap at him. "Excuse me if I need a drink to take off the edge before the killing begins."
"So that's your plan, is it?" He asks waving his hand. "Ply me with alcohol and then prattle on until I'm convinced to leave Davina and Mikael alone to plot my death?"
"No." I shake my head raising my drink to my lips slightly. "My plan is to sit and listen. Come on, Klaus. You could of eavesdropped on that phone call and vanished before I even knew you were there, so let's just get to the part you really want me to play...whatever that even is anymore." I down the rest of my drink looking up at him. "Call it whatever. I know why I'm here. To give you the one thing you've never had, someone to hear your side."
Klaus just looks at me for a moment before moving to sit down across from me. "So, you want to kill Mikael. Fine. Let's talk."
*
"My mothers intentions are far less savage than my fathers. She'd prefer to place us all in new bodies, there by reuniting our family in some bizarre coven of extremely dysfunctional witches." Klaus rants.
"So, What, are you just gonna kill her too?" I ask leaning my elbows against the table.
"If only I could, but therein lies my predicament. If I kill her, she'll just jump into another body, and if I somehow manage to thwart that nasty little inconvenience, she'll rejoin the bloody witch ancestors and haunt me from beyond. Right now, Mikael has the white oak stake. He needs to die first." He looks up at me as I think.
"And how are you gonna do that unarmed?" I ask trying not to let my concern show in my voice.
"I've taken precautions." He smirks and pull out papa tundes knife.
"Oh goody. Papa Tundes knife of ludicrous torment. Glad that's still around." I say sarcastically while wincing as I thought back to when it was in Klaus' chest.
"You know my parents dedicated their lives to making me feel weak and afraid. I've killed them once already. I can do it again." He says angrily and stands up from his chair which makes me do the same.
"Klaus, Wait." I grab his arm making him stop. "I get it. The hurt your parents have inflicted on you for a thousand years, I understand what you are fighting against, but the real question is what are you fighting for?" Me and him look at each other before I speak up again. "Ask me to dance."
"You want to dance?" He asks like I'm crazy.
"No. I never want to dance. I'm actually terrible at it but I'm trying to make a point. There's more to life than the pain that they made you feel. A cold beer, a slow song, a good friend. There are good things, Klaus." I reach my hand over and grab his softly looking down at them. "And you need to see that, too."
I bring my hand to his shoulder as his moves to my waist and we slowly sway. He finally looks up at me and so I start talking again. "There's no real peace in revenge."
He moves his face closer as my cheek rests against the side of his face for a moment, before he moves so our noses are touching and our lips are inches away from each other. Suddenly he spins me around and stumble when I turn back to face him, to see him gone. I'm left standing there as I try and control my heart and sigh.
*
I make sure to text Davina and tell her about Klaus coming. I've been looking everywhere and even though I'm a hybrid, I'm still part witch, which means I can get tired of walking and running. I breathe heavily as I get to the cabin seeing Klaus.
"Where is she? If something happened to her, Klaus, I swear to god!" I yell at him trying to arch my breath.
"Davina's Fine. She'll wake with a spectacular headache, but given her intentions for me, she should count herself lucky." Klaus says as I let out a sigh in relief while still out of breath. "Of course if you drop dead of a heart attack, I may have to kill her on general principle."
"You're the one who ditched me at the bar. I had to hitchhike and then run in the back roads of the bayou!" I glare at him.
"Well, your perseverance is duly noted." He replies with some stupid remark.
"Oh, shut up. I am so mad at you, I can hardly speak, but I am here and it is to tell you...not to bargain with you and not to shame you but to tell you, under no circumstances will you hurt Davina, do you understand me?" I ask in a pleading sad tone.
He sighs quietly. "You have my word." I surprise myself by wrapping my one arm around him and hugging him. I pull away and look down seeing Mikael's body.
"Mikael...is he..." I ask remembering him from when he tried to kill Hayley and the baby.
"He's still alive and in complete and utter agony. I decided to take your advice and keep him that way." He looks at me and smiles as I let a small smile appear.

8 201It Sucks Being a Side Character
Beat the bad guy, save the day, get the girl. These are the three steps of success every good Hero strives for. But for Lee, those three things are an impossible bucket list. For a side character, there's no beating the bad guy, there's no saving the day, and there's definitely no getting the girl!As a side character in a typical Shonen story, all that awaits Lee is loss, cliches, filler arcs, and a whole lot of cheering the protagonist along from the sidelines. Can Lee change his destiny in a group full of walking tropes? Or will he be stuck watching from the sidelines? Only one thing is for sure, it sucks being a side character!
