《Legend of the Lost Star》(Chapter 908) B15 C24: An all-out war

The transparent barriers in front of the fifty-nine Locomotives lit up brilliantly, creating a blinding bastion against the falling stars. At the same time, the buildings below the North’s strongest force lit up, creating strands of pale light that wound around the Locomotives. The Five Lands’ semi-divinities split up to intercept the flanking spectres, while the ordinary fliers of the East and the Republic began to provide supporting fire from the rear.
Gemini watched as the Five Lands operated in unison, his breathing laboured.
“This is their first answer,” Thasvia replied quietly, before her presence expanded. “The Five Lands have found their reason to fight. Can you hear it?”
The Demon Sovereign lowered his eyelids, casting his divine sense to fill the area around him. He could sense the same burning will to fight, to resist the gift of the Abyss Sovereign.
Where did they get their determination from? What was driving them forward?
“I wonder…what’s their motivation?” Thasvia looked at the hardy little troops holding out against the ceaseless barrage of fire.
“It seems that our earlier ploy has succeeded,” said Gemini. “These people…they’re trying to protect their loved ones, convinced that Celestia’s creation will obliterate Orb. Others are trying to save those who have already entered Celestia…”
His ear twitched. “Yes. They believe that by ending this embryonic world, those who had been tricked inside would be freed once more.”
“Is that possible?” Thasvia asked.
“If Hereward doesn’t know, there’s really no point in asking me about all these,” said Gemini. “But it seems that this public relations campaign has been very successful, if nothing else. The Abyss Sovereign has been turned into the true enemy of the world, alluring the weak and the vulnerable into a false fantasy in which he alone rules. We, the people of Orb, are embarking on this crusade to end the contemptuous, detestable master of the Abyss, to end his bloody duplicity.”

The Breath-maker sighed. “I don’t think your representation of the Abyss Sovereign’s public image is accurate, though, if those curses and vows I hear right now are to be believed.”
“We can’t exactly be crass,” Gemini replied. “I had to dilute the battle cries I hear, right?”
“What for?” Thasvia asked. “Aria’s in my Divine Kingdom anyway. She isn’t going to pick up your crass words.”
“Stop trying to lead Gemini astray,” Lila cut in. “Besides, if he gets used to crass words, wouldn’t it damage the image of the great gods? Imagine if Hereward started swearing in public. Whoosh.”
“Now that you mention it, I should have tried to make Anren speak some uncouth words,” said Thasvia. “Might have stopped the Second Extermination and his megalomania.”
Gemini didn’t know what was a suitable response, so he made do by watching the Five Lands as they endured the heavy bombardment.
“That’s odd…” The Demon Sovereign narrowed his eyes.
“What’s odd?” Lila asked.
“Thasvia,” said Gemini, “can you sense the flow of energy in the Central Circle? There’s something peculiar about it.”
Her emerald-green hair fluttered as the wind picked up, and for a moment, thousands of green lines appeared. All of them were extending outwards from the gigantic tower in the middle of the continent. The green radiance was particularly striking at the tip of the tallest tower.
Gemini’s mind rapidly dissected the odd illumination of Thasvia’s working, forming multiple thoughts and opinions as the momentary illumination faded. Energy was being channelled to the centre of the continent at an alarming rate. At the same time, the numerous warnings that his thought strands were issuing told him that whatever dangers and difficulties the Five Lands would face in their approach would pale before the stronghold of the Abyss Sovereign.

“Beautiful,” Lila murmured. “But…”
The Demon Sovereign nodded slowly. “It does account for how the Abyss Sovereign is capable of expending so much energy. It’s not even his own, or the Abyss. He’s just simply siphoning it from the rest of the world.”
“The energy released from the on-going bombardment and defence would just return to him,” said Thasvia. “The forces of the Five Lands must compete in this regard, or else annihilation will be their fate.”
“Don’t worry about that,” said Gemini, his eyes fixed onto some of the Paragons and the Demigods of Orb. “Everyone saw that. Including the people that should. With that little prompt, they should be able to work something out. After all, if they can conduct a defence flawlessly…”
He looked at the reply the Five Lands were currently issuing to the Abyss Sovereign. What was that little kid, who had been driven into despair by him, thinking as he saw this scene?
“Tch.”
“What?”
“This is also affirming his path, right?” Gemini muttered darkly. “Little punk. He doesn’t actually care for Celestia.”
“As you explained some time ago, the Abyss Sovereign probably just wanted to see world peace. It’s a noble ideal,” said Thasvia, “just that he’s too extreme about it. Creating an entirely new world to curb the conflict-prone nature of mortals…that’s not just inspired, it’s also partially insane. Such an undertaking…it’s probably affected his psyche.”
Her green robes fluttered. “He might be already partially insane. You can tell from how…wrong that tower is. Just from the decorations alone. It looks like some exaggerated lair of some monstrous villain.”
“Maybe it’s on purpose,” said Gemini, before taking a glance at the black lightning that was dancing around the tower. It was the same black lightning that he had seen, at the root of the Demon God’s final inheritance, but if the Abyss Sovereign could simply harness it to make his stronghold look more ominous…
“Let’s just hope that’s the case,” said Thasvia. “If he can be reasoned with, this whole thing might end a lot more peacefully.”
“Maybe.” Gemini hugged Lila, who had been just watching the surreal battle below. “Let me hug you for a bit. I’m feeling depressed.”
Lila tilted her head. “Sure, but why?”
“Remember that black lightning I told you about?” Gemini asked.
“What about it?”
“Well…”

The Primordial
With one goal fueling him, he broke through the final barrier, reaching the apex of power and regaining that which was once lost. Trying to find a new beginning, he reforged himself anew as he awoke to memories of a long forgotten past. Memories that intersected with his new reality. His invincible soul now unchained, surprises await him as he begins his new jouney in an unknown land. I'm just writing this for fun, but i'll never drop it. This won't be something short, as I have the very long term in mind, but I'm a total noob to writing, so I most likely won't release chapters very often, at least until I really get the hang of it. But, the chapters will always be several thousand words long. At the minimum 2k, maximum like 6k... Pretty big variations, sorry. If you like it, great. If you don't, that's understandable. Regardless, if you have a read, I'd appreciate feedback for areas you think I should improve on, whether it's the use of some words or how I should write something or WHATEVER. I'm open to anything, good or bad, because with your help, it'll help make this story better. **DISCLAIMER** So you don't waste your time, I want to let you know what you're getting into, because I like knowing ahead of time before I read something. This might appear like a Xianxia novel, but it's not. It only starts that way. This is a western fantasy world and setting that many of you are familiar with. The beginning chapters might be a bit of an info dump. Some of it might seems superfluous, but a lot of information is relevant to the story. The first few chapters might also seem rushed, but I'll try to keep it exclusive to those. This is a cliche, OP MC story with the typical harem, but other than the quick start, everything else will be gradual. There will be romance, and probably many moments at that, but don't expect anything TOO detailed. If you want something really steamy, look elsewhere. References and throwbacks to stuff most likely. The setting won't be really dark or really light. Middleground, I guess. The MC is far from a young kid, but he won't totally reflect his age. I don't plan on discarding info, abilities or characters that you KNOW should come back and be around. I see it a lot and it sort of bugs me haha... but I could have oversights, I dunno. As I said, I'm a noob. That's it, really. If you're interested, welcome to my world!

Sanguine
The Coles are probably the definition of a small dysfunctional family, even if they weren’t the worst in existence; they would probably be lauded as an example of the term. The Coles were a small family though. The father, Oliver Cole, was an asshole ex-football jock who bounced around in small paying jobs after wasting most of his life drinking, drugging and whoring. The daughter, Stacy Cole, was smart, but had many issues including anger, trouble with authority, and occasional suicidal thoughts, and was kicked out of many a school for disruptive behaviour. The son, Mike Cole, was innocent, and tried his best to be kind to anyone and everyone, however his own speech impediment, and slow nature only aided people to bully and belittle him, including his own father. The Coles were indeed a dysfunctional family. At least they were, until they got to the small town near the border between the United States and Canada, Sanguine. Welcome to Sanguine. You will stay. With the exception of the first chapter, each chapter only follows one character. The first chapter is the only chapter in which I will include 'Sides' where it follows a different character. This is a short Lovecraftian story, it won't go above seventeen chapters. Note: the book cover is my first attempt, it might not even remain like it is, I was just tired of seeing the standard 'no cover' thing on it.

Children of The Sky: Heartcore
In the realm of Yggdrasil, there exist nine worlds. Each and every world has unique stories to tell, but there was one that stood out--The Floating World of Speir. In the land of Speir, the impossible does not exist; this world has given birth to thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of tales, fables, and legends. The fight for the fate of the world is a common occurrence and the neverending stories of the people which reside in it were all, by itself, always unique and interesting. Now, after many aeons have passed, the world has changed. Not only the power of magic could shape reality, technology also has the ability to change the world with just a thought. And from the world where futuristic technology meets magic, I have chosen to tell you a story, a story picked from countless others. This is the story of a boy who recently entered the prestigious, and the most powerful academy in all of the nine worlds--Yggdrasil Academy, to fufill his dream. What is his dream, you might ask. Well, allow me to show you the life of Reynard Foxtale, one of The Children of The Sky. *Warning. For those who don't like lengthy explanations or long talks, this might not suit your taste. However, the setting of my story does not adhere to most of the main stream fantasy/sci-fi settings. So, you might find my ideas unique or a little too weird and complicated or both. Whatever opinions you might have, I truly thank all of you who are willing to spend your time to read my story. *The cover (which is a picture I do not own) is not in any way an accurate depiction of the world in the story. P/S I will post this story on FictionPress as well. P/P/S I'm relatively new to this website, so if I made any obvious (to regulars) mistakes, please tell me. P/P/P/S Will update every two weeks. *Important: In Hiatus for now. **13/7/2017 Update. Check chapter nine (and maybe ten) post-chapter note.
