>> “... ter? Master...? Master...!” a cacophonous voice beckons in my ear. A sudden touch rushed over my entire body as I twitched out. “Master?”

I turned over to look whose calling. “Are you alright?” Eisheth, the one who called me out, asked.

“Huh. Uhm, yeah? What’s up?” I asked. Her quizzical gaze lures up to me, as I smile. “Uh, is there any problem?”

“No, I’m just wondered by your word, ‘What’s up’?” she answered. “Ah, it means what are you up to.” I retorted. She nods to me and looks at Kroni who is sitting and reading at the table.

“You sure you’re alright, yes?” she asked again. “Yeah, I’m fine. And... you’re the previous King’s...”

Eisheth’s eyes sneer at me. “What’s with that, Master?”

Though, I sensed the wariness on her replied, I shrugged it and walks towards the table where Kroni is. “Hey,” I called. “Ah! Master!” lifting her head, Kroni widely smiles as she greets me.

“Eisheth has been calling you for the meantime now, Master. You haven’t been responding. Is there something happened?”

Kroni asked, her smile still intact. “Ah, no...” I smile at her and sits on the chair. Eisheth quickly followed and sits beside me. “I see you learned the Great War, no?”

A sudden question popped Eisheth as she looks at me. “Hmm...? Yeah, I read that book.”

“Itaque quid de eo cogitates...?” (And so, what are your thoughts about it?)

Out of a sudden, the way she speaks changes. Kroni got surprised as she looks at her. “Hey, you’re starting so sudden.”

“Praestat magistrum linguam nostram discere, cum historiam nostram iam noverat.” (It is important for Master to learn our language, since he already knew our history...)

Eisheth smirks, as Kroni bellows softly. “This is too sudden, Eisheth! He must learn the basics first.” She protests.

“I—-I don’t have an idea what are you talking about, Eisheth... Sorry.” My voice got agitated. Yet, somewhat deep in me, there is something I feel like understanding.

“Wendigo fructum edo, quia cibus est nobis daemonum. Si mortalis eam sumat, scientiam et linguam facile percipiet.” (I made you eat the Wendigo's fruit because it is the nourishment for us Demons. Should a mortal consume it, he will attain the knowledge and grasped the language easily.)

Her eyes focus on me, as it illuminates. “Hey, Eisheth, you’re freaking me out here. Master...” Kroni suddenly stands and goes to me.

She then closes my eyes with both her hands. “Quid agitis?!” (What are you doing?!)

“De nobis didicit. Mephistopheles iuxta legionem bellum gessit; existentiam nostram. Hic vir nos ad victoriam ducere debet. Et ne nos huius Regni futura videamus.” (He learned about us. The war Mephistopheles fought alongside the legion; our existence. This man is ought to lead us to victory. And lead us to see the future of this Kingdom.)

Even Kroni speaks the language that made me confused even more. “Uhm, guys—-"

“Scias metum coacervaturum omnia peiora fore. Nunc extra castrum sumus!” (You should know that accumulating his fear will make everything worse. We're outside the castle right now!)

I don’t know what these two were talking, but I feel the tense arising. “All right, I shouldn’t rush it.”

Eisheth sighs tepidly, as Kroni removes her hands off my eyes. “What was that for?” I asked. “Eisheth’s luring you with Demonic thoughts.”

Kroni answers. I look at Eisheth as she nods at me. “Sorry, Master. I thought it would be better if you learned how to speak our language.”

I never expected this from her. Eisheth seemed composed and collected woman. “...You know, since the time you speak your language, deep inside me, there’s something I ought to understand.”

The two women looked at me. “I don’t know. Might be, I’m just imagining things? I guess?”

“Then,” Kroni calls. “Dic mihi quid dicam tibi. Tu es rex daemon.” (Tell me what I'm saying to you. You are the Demon King.)

As those words left out of her mouth, a sudden thought accumulated within my head. It feels like there’s something composing thorough; connecting each word.

Weaved thoroughly, I sensed the language perceived as it tries to get out of my mouth. Then...

“I am the Demon King.” I answered. Kroni then smiles at me as she looks at Eisheth. “The Wendigo’s fruit is having its effect.”

Eisheth mumbled, and Kroni chuckles. “Huh?” I asked in wonder. “Fructus Wendigo, olim mortalis consumptus, scientiam assequetur, et lingua daemonis loqui potest.” (The Wendigo fruit, once consumed by a mortal, will attain the knowledge and can speak the demon language.)

Once more, that processed in my brain weaved together, making me fully understand the words she conveyed out.

“Wendigo’s fruit, making me understand and depict your language?” I mumbled. The two nods at me.

“...Huh.” I grunt. “It’s just been a day, Master. I thought the effect won’t happen right away.”

Eisheth smiles at me. This is the first time I see her smile. She’s way more beautiful right now, and the radiance of candle flicking make her beauty illuminates further.

“I understand each word you said, but...” I rebutted.

“Worry not, Master. Speaking it out will be natural for you.” Kroni grins. “We should proceed in our practice now.”

“Indeed, Regina enim nostra imprimetur et plus apud te amabit.” (for our Queen will be impressed and fall in love with you even more.)

“The Queen will fall in love with me—-" I grasped out of surprise as the two grins. “Hey! Don’t make me do this to make an impression for Her Highness!”

“You shouldn’t be embarrassed, Master. We’re making this to make you the one to earn the throne.”

Their grins widen further. “I am not doing this for the Queen or the throne.” I defended. It is true, that I’m not doing this for the throne or for anyone.

“Even if you say so, we believe you are the one who must sit on the throne to be the next ruler of this Kingdom. Master—-no, Your Highness."

“We both believe you are the one for our Queen, and the one we will serve for the rest of your mortal days.”

Kroni and Eisheth both gazes at me. “And we will make sure of it. For your sake, Master... and for the prosperity of our race. We will make sure that no one will ever take the throne away from you.”

They stand and walks towards me. However, their eyes didn’t blink in a single moment. “...Utere nobis ut tibi videbitur. Nemini enim serviemus nisi tibi soli, et fides tua erit in aeternum. Dominus...”

(Use us as you see fit. For we will serve no one but you alone, and our loyalty will be for yours, for eternity. Master...)

They both grabbed my hands and kneel down. With synchronous move, they kissed my hands. “Erimus in servitio tuo, Domine.” (We will be at your service, Master)

Their heads lift up, their eyes glow as smile carved on their lips. I don’t exactly know what to feel right now. But just I have thought before, if they’re of use for me to go back to my world, I will use them as I see fit.

“I understand.” I answered, and reached on their faces. Both Kroni and Eisheth giggles and their hands touches mine.
