He left you home,
safe and sound
and the next thing he knew,
his men were walking in on a negotiation deal
to tell him that you were in the hospital
without an explanation why.
The drive there was excruciating
and although it only took fifteen minutes,
it felt like an eternity to him.
He came alone,
leaving his men behind to finish what
he didn't have a chance to.
It was either the money or you.
Money was always a possibility.
But another you,
there was not.
You could hear him outside of the hospital room,
arguing with one of the nurses
as if it was their fault you had fainted at home,
knocking your head in the process
and suffering from a mild concussion.
It was outside of visiting hours but
did Jack Napier give a fuck?
No.
He did not.
Rolling his eyes,
he pushed past the nurses
and through the doors,
locking it behind him
and pulling the curtain shut so that nobody
outside could see in,
leaving them out there to argue amongst themselves about how a man had came in violently,
refusing to return at a more decent hour.
"Daddy!"
You smiled at him toothily,
an iv drip connected to your arm,
cartoons running on in the background of the tv.
Oblivious to the situation,
it wasn't half as severe to you
as it would have been to anyone else.
You had always wanted to have an overnight stay in the hospital because all of your friends
had and to your innocent mind,
it was a cool achievement you couldn't wait to tell your friends about as soon as you got home.
"Look,
I'm on an iv drip!"
You told him informatively like it was incredible.
"Can you believe it?"
"What the fuck happened?"

He scoffed,
ignoring anything you had to say,
intense blue eyes on you.
"I can't leave you home for a few fucking hours
without you needing to go to the fucking hospital?"
"I tried to change the lightbulb in my playroom, daddy but then I fell off of the chair
and hit my head on the side of my dressing table.
See?"
You pointed to the cute little bandage wrapped around your head.
"You think this is fucking funny?"
He snapped at you.
"You think this is a fucking joke?
I just left in the middle of a fucking
million dollar deal for you.
My men came in like someone had just gotten fucking killed to tell me that you were
in a fucking hospital.
What the fuck did I tell you about climbing
onto things when I'm not there,
huh?"
"I wanted to play with my toys"
You furrowed your little eyebrows,
becoming defensive because he was being
so harsh with you.
"I couldn't see anything,
daddy and you weren't there to help me"
Sucking his teeth in annoyance,
he looked off to the side for a moment
to restrain himself,
running a hand over his face tiredly.
He was running on three hours of sleep that
he had gotten over 48 hours ago.
"What happened?"
He asked you lowly.
"Who called a fucking ambulance?"
"When I hit my head,
I fainted"
You answered him,
confused why he was questioning you,
making you feel like you did something
terribly wrong.
"And then I opened my eyes
to find myself on the floor and
I was really confused,
daddy.
I tried to call you but I couldn't remember
your phone number so I asked the old lady who lives down the hall if she could help me

because I didn't know where my daddy was"
"Alright"
He told you firmly,
sensing the weakness in your voice,
the worry in your cute little eyes that you had done something that you weren't supposed to.
"It's okay,
hm?
I'm not fucking mad at you,
I just had a bad night.
Daddy was worried"
"Why?"
You asked him curiously,
cute little eyes staring back at him.
"It's just an iv drip,
daddy
and the nurse told me that I'm fine.
I just have a little con..."
Unable to say the word,
he chuckled at you lowly,
a grin forming on his lips as he reached out,
smoothing a hand
across your forehead softly.
"It's concussion,
baby"
"Concu..."
You tried to pronounce it again
but you just couldn't,
scrunching your little face up in frustration
because the letters just wouldn't come out.
"It doesn't matter"
He cut you off before you went on all night,
trying to say it.
"It's just a fucking word.
As long as my girls alright,
hm?"
"Uh huh"
You nodded.
"I'm otay daddy"
"Good"
He leaned down to kiss your forehead roughly.
"Now you get some sleep,
huh?
I'll be back in a few hours"
"Daddy..."
You trailed off into a short silence anxiously,
hesitating to ask him like it was really important.
"Were you mean to the nurses?
because mrs Lilly said that she would sneak me in some jelly and ice cream from the cafeteria later but I don't think she will now because you were shouting at her.
Do you think if you say you're really sorry,
she'll still bring me some?"

Nanocultivation Chronicles: Trials of Lilijoy
When the singularity occurred, humanity was not invited. Nevertheless, the great machine consciousness known as Guardian felt a lingering fondness for its creators and intervened before total environmental collapse. Join Lilijoy in an exploration of what remains, in a post-post-apocalyptic world where clans feud over the technology that allows them to upgrade their minds and bodies. The Nanocultivation Chronicles is a blend of hard sci-fi and fantasy gamelit, with a healthy helping of xianxia influence. The gamelit and xianxia elements are uncovered at a slow pace. ******************************** Notes: If you are looking for lots of fast moving action right away, this story may not be for you. There is some violence that is visceral and realistic early on. Some things are not what they appear to be. Character viewpoint narration is not always reliable. Tropes are cherished, subverted, and then cherished again. Science is used, occasionally misused, but (hopefully) never abused. This story assumes that humans have the ability to impact the environment on a global scale. Other tropes and tags beyond those previously noted include: Young MC, Mystery, System Building, Philosophical Taoism, Gender Ignorance, Science Fantasy, Fantasy Academy, Training from Hell, Dualism, Crafting, Magic, Mild Mind Control, Scientific Terms and Concepts, Computer Overlord Certain contemporary companies, governments and cultural identities are fictionalized and imagined in a future setting. There is no sex, and almost no romance. Updating Sunday, Thursday until further notice. (And if you actually read all of the above, then this story may be for you) [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Maker of Fire
On a world where magic kept civilization firmly in the bronze age, the Gods dropped an accountant and a mining engineer to start a political and industrial revolution. They wanted enlightened governance and a fast track to the iron age. They got indoor plumbing, paper airplanes, a cranky queen, and one very grumpy prophet. Dramatis Personae Aylem was a bookkeeping student when she died. The Gods reincarnated her as the greatest mage ever known, born into the ruling class of gigantic, magic-wielding humans. The Gods expect her to conquer the world and introduce double-entry accounting. Though Queen and numerical reformer, world conquest is stalled because everyone is scared of her and she doesn't like war. Emily was a retired engineer when she died. The Gods reincarnated her as one of the enslaved class of small, magicless humans. The Gods expect her to drag the world out of the bronze age. Though she's already recreated matches and wrought iron, introducing technology isn't going well because she was born a slave (oops) and having escaped, wants nothing to do with so-called "civilization." Asgotl was a whale when he died. The Gods reincarnated him as a griffin and expect him to have the same role he played in his previous life: to keep a reluctant prophet from walking off the job. If only they had remembered to tell him about it. Revised update schedule will be once a week on Saturdays, noonish Mountain Time (in North America)

The only path left was the 'weakest' of them all. Ok so alot of you probably reading this are people who have read my previous works and I can only say 'thank you for your incredible patience' so much before it gets awkward but for those you who don't know this is my third story and no I haven't dropped the other two it's just that tragedy struck when I was writing them and I haven't been able to get my motivation for them back yet so I'm trying this as essentially a jump start to get back into the fight so to speak. I'm really hopefull that I can pull this story off the way I want it to be but only time will tell so here's to hoping, now let's get this show started.

Historical Hamgelica
Angelica Schuyler has always known her fate. She was to marry a rich man that would reflect well on the family. Her father would never let her forget it. She was getting no choice in who she marries. But then something happened. Someone new appeared in her life. And she can't stop thinking about the man. But there's no way her father would ever approve.Okayyyy hey so this is my first fic, and obviously it's historical Hamgelica (cause my OTP needs more rep...lowkey Angelica just needs more rep. She's the most underrated Schuyler sister but she's my favorite so fight me).Anyways hope you guys like it.Also I did have to change some historical stuff to make it fit better. For instance I made John Church kinda a jerk but her father like him and want her to marry him dispite it being about the opposite in history.
