17.5 Kanon

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. We welcome you to another beautiful morning in our backyard." Triton exclaimed excitedly from his spot on the grass.

Lacey giggled from beside him.

The kids were settled in a wide-open field hidden in the forest behind their home. It was the kid's secret spot. The grass on the field were a luscious burnt orange.

"Today, we are about to witness an epic game of Kanon." Triton continued then looked over at the rest of the gain who were gathered along the field. "On team 1, we have Queen as captain, Rockie, Maya, and K.O. On team 2, we have captain Danny, Champion and Daisy." That wasn't right. "Wait! You guys don't have enough players."

The kids looked around to realize that he was right. Team 2 was short one. They then stared over at Belle, who was sitting oh so peacefully on the grass reading a tattered manuscript.

"Ey, Belle come play with us." Rockie exclaimed.

Belle just flipped to the other page and kept reading, "I'm busy."

"You're wack." Rockie ...

"Please play with us Belle." Daisy begged giving the water mage perfectly executed puppy dog eyes. The others joined in with encouragements of their own.

It did nothing but irritate Belle until she finally slammed the book shut. She glared up at the group.

"If it'll get you to shut up."

"Yayyy!"

Everyone got in place on the field.

"Alright," Triton started, standing between the two teams. "First half is feet; second half is hands. Timeout if someone is unable to move. First team to get 21 points win. And the rules, there are none. Mother nature will pick who start off."

They all paused as the atmosphere went calm. Then a breeze brushed towards team 1's direction.

"Alright. Team 1, you start, Have fun." He bounced off the field.

Maya stood on the outskirts of the field a few miles out. She was the star hitter for the team. Her job was to get the ball as close to the Opp goal as possible, which she was good at.

"Dustin" Maya called and grabbed the gavel. She positioned it over her shoulder as she got ready.

On the other end was Triton standing behind a long canon. He yanked the string, and the canon went off.

Showtime. A yellow ball flew out heading for Maya quick. She squinted her eyes as the ball charged for her, then she swung out and hit it with all of her might. The ball zoomed through the air so fast and hard that it caught fire.

On the field, Danny sprinted towards the ball as it neared them, with Queen hot on his heels. When the ball started descending, Danny lifted his arms up to catch it. Yet, it just went through his spread arms, but then it stopped midair. Queen went to try to kick at the ball, only for Danny smirk and yank his arms down, causing his force to fling the ball towards Champion.

The fire mage jumped high then caught the ball between his ankles and landed. Maya went to guard him, but Champion faked like he was about to run head into her then shook around her. He ran up the field then spotted Daisy open. He kicked her the ball, only for Rockie to slide across to steal it. Rockie ran a bit, then turned to watch a glaring Belle, who was team 2 goalie.

He reared his foot back as it gathered electric energy and kicked the ball, sending it curving into the goal.

Team1: 3

Team2: 0

"Woohoo," Maya and Rockie cheered.

"Oh, we're only getting warmed up." Champion said with a smirk.

"We'll be doing the warming up." Queen stated back with her own witty retort.

"You're up, team 2." Triton called out.

This time Champion was on the outskirts on the opposite side.

The canon went off and rushed towards him. He jumped up, then round kicked the ball and sent it flying out.

The ball soared over their heads and straight for K.O guarding the goal.

The blonde gritted his teeth then the air around him started to spin. The ball got caught in the whirl and was flung the opposite direction. Queen caught the ball and keep her stride kicking it up the field. Danny ran towards her attempting to swipe the ball, but Queen was too swift with it. She kicked it over to Maya who kicked it to Rockie and the kid once again scored.

Team2: 0

"That's it kid." Maya shouted, clapping Rockie's hand.

Danny looked over at Champion, and the fire mage could read his expression.

"Yeah, I got it." Champion agreed and they started the game up again.

Champion kicked the ball off again. This time before Queen could get it, a vine wrapped around her feet and tripped her to the ground.

"Thank you." Daisy chirped as she caught the ball and kicked it to Champion.

Champion caught it them kicked it up field. He approached Maya speeding for him but he only sped up faster, then shook her up again. Rockie was right behind her attempting to steal the ball, but vines wrapped around his ankles too sending him to the ground.

Champion kicked the ball which caught on fire and flew passed K.O into the goal.

Team 1: 6

Team 2: 3

"Now, we're getting real." Queen said, eying Champion.

The game started up again. Maya hit the ball and it was off.
