《The Forgotten Gods》Chapter 36

So this was something new that I wasn’t expecting. I didn’t know that I could get a racial class, nor did I know that level 1 in a racial class was what a ten-year-old would get. So I guessed it made sense that they would want to train their tribe early for what they were doing.
I could likely get some additional skills with this selection. For example, if I went with hunter, I’d be able to care for myself better, same with gatherer.
Crafter would be suitable for making tools that I’d need to take care of myself, and that is good. However, without the support of a tribe, I wasn’t sure that it was a class that would do anything for me. I needed to get everything myself and then build it, and there was just too much to do to survive at this point. Add in my desire to find other people, hopefully in a town that could teach me to read, and I was sure this was a bad idea.
Warrior seems like I’d just be focused more on the combat; not sure what all a Warrior would have that a Hunter wouldn’t. But, with the goblins and that big thing around, being a warrior might be a solid choice.
Then there was Shaman. I knew it would make sense that it would be a Shaman if any wild human could cast. Since my class let me enchant spells, I might get something useful from this racial class. Perhaps even it would unlock reading since I’d think they might need it for some of the magic. If I could read then, I could open my other class skills, which would mean I could level those skills.
I selected Wild Human Apprentice Shaman.

I guessed my current gear list was so short because I didn’t have it within reach being in the tree. I rubbed my hands together when I scrolled up and saw new spells and new skills. I wanted to see what I’d to work with now. Even before I got to my spells, I saw that I now had what could be thought of like my three most important skills locked. While I was very unhappy about that, there was nothing I could do now. Perhaps there was a way to dig down into the classes I was offered so that I’d have known.

This is a Shaman ritualistic spell.
This spell is likely the most important spell of all Shamans. As such this is the first spell that new shamans are taught.
When cast this spell will make it so that the body can not be raised again giving final rest to any tribe member.
When cast on the dead it can only be cast on a single target at full length usage.
When cast at undead to weaken their hold on this world it is an area effect. This spell will stop undead healing, and cause level/5 damage (minimum of 1) per second that the undead is in the area.
Small casting 1 Square yard
Medium casting 3 Square yards
Large casting 5 Square yards
“Well Crap” I muttered. “Undead wasn't something I was expecting.”
I started to think through the issue of the undead and how I knew nothing about them. I knew what they were in TV fiction, but not what they were like here. But I was also not sure how magic was real; I just had to deal with the fact that it was. Now I had to figure out what I would do about life now that I knew that dead people weren’t going to always stay that way. I bet that I needed to start casting this on everything bigger than the fish I have been eating so that I didn’t get undead dogs or Unnts out to get me. Then I pulled up my new skills.
The three that seemed most important for me I pulled up to look at more details on. I wanted to know about what type of magic I had.
Primitive Runes Grouping magical:
Primitive Runes may be a misnomer as there is no direct visible link established between Primitive Runes and the Script used by the casters of the world. Primitive Runes are used almost exclusively by Wild Human casters. While the set is much smaller, the method of use seems to let them have almost the same level of control over magic. This being said, the Wild Human Casters seem to also have an almost completely different view and use of magic. No serious Caster has ever bothered to attempt to learn this guarded secret set of runes.
Ritualistic Healing Grouping magical:
Ritualistic Healing is both magical and non-magical in use. It will combine the use of herbs and potions along with spells. At early levels, this lets the creation of sickness wards and poultices to speed healing. Higher-level will introduce healing spells that fall under ritualistic spell casting.
Ritualistic Spell Grouping magical:
Ritualistic spell is a primitive feeling way of casting a spell. While it is possible that this method of spell casting is the early version of current human casting, it is unlikely as the Rune set is so different. Ritualistic casting requires either the use of rune stones or dance and chant to activate. Dance and chant take thirty seconds for a small casting, two minutes for a medium casting, or 10 minutes for a large casting. The dancing pulls Mana in from the area around the caster, decreasing the need for a larger mana pool. An extra ten mana per level is needed.
Casting these new spells wasn’t going to be as easy as what I’d been doing to ask my question, but that being said, it did say that I could feel a way of casting, so perhaps I could work out some other spells and figure stuff out on my own. It would also be nice if I could heal now. Even though I have fast healing, I was betting that this would speed things up, and it appeared that I should be able to help keep myself from getting sick in the first place. Also, now that I’d a type of runes, I was hoping that I could start to enchant something.
I’d have to deal with all of this in the morning when I got up. I wanted to see if any of my plans needed to change. Until then, I had to go see Sam and learn how to view what my Stats did.
Then I dreamed.

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to my first attempt at writing a novel. I am preparing to participate in the 2017 NaNoWriMo event so enjoy the first chapter as that's here early only to ensure that I have a place to post once the event starts. This means the first novel/book will have a target of 50,000 words. I'm excited to attempt this challenge despite the hurdles I will have to overcome. I do have a demanding full time job so planning time to write and make weekly releases starting in November will be my biggest challenge. Also, please accept my apologies on my cover. I'm not an artist and the only digital tool available at my disposal is the stock microsoft paint. So I did my best to create a decent cover as I did not want to steal the work of another. If there are those interested by the end of November in donating a new fan made cover then I will look into replacing the old cover.

Just a Game
“A great corruption is spreading. The people cry out for a savior. For a hero. For YOU! Come join the fight, as the chosen of World Tree! Receive the blessings of the gods, battle fierce monsters, and become the hero you were meant to be, in Arcanum Online!” It was the cheesiest commercial Ethan had ever heard, but the gameplay was enough to draw him - and thousands of others - to the fantasy world of Lazuros. It’s the sort of place that can really draw you in - a huge open world, a deep character customization system, and a feature that makes time pass slower inside the game, extending your limited playtime! It was a little strange, though. As if it was a bit too realistic for a game of swords and sorcery. The NPC’s seemed almost alive, most quests didn’t reset and monsters respawned slowly. Still, for all it’s quirks, it was a good game! Just a game. And nothing more. …right?
